My husband and I recently switched to this business for clothes alterations. They usually have the items ready one week later. They are closed Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. Open other days 11-6. I recently had two pairs of jeans hemmed for $16 each, two dresses altered at the shoulders for $40 each, a zipper replaced in a parka for $45, and a dress hemmed for $25. I don't know if that's fair pricing. Seems a bit high. Friendly owners who do a great job. They have two dressing rooms and a tri mirror area to try on items before and after tailoring. read more

Quick service, they took in 3 items different alteration needs and hand them done within a week time period. Everything was altered perfectly. I had some jeans hemmed and I wish they had been hemmed with the same seam I brought them in with however they still look good. I will be making this my regular place for alterations! I don't mean to sound like everyone else here, but my experience was pretty much the same as the other ones I'm reading about. I needed to make some alterations on a suit, and so I found them on Yelp and decided to give them a try. I did notice, however, thanks to my fellow Yelpers, that they have limited hours. It's something you'll need to plan around, because I really wanted to drop by on a Monday to get it going, but waited until Wednesday. Currently they are open Wed-Sat, and Saturday is just a three hour window around lunch. Check (or call) before you go in just be sure. I came in, got into my suit in one of the changing rooms, and was ready to be marked. I was having the length of the pants brought up just a bit, and the gentleman there gave me options about where to put the break, and how to think about things. He marked both legs (very helpful, as I'm told many people have slightly different lengths to their legs) and pinned everything in place. Next, we brought the sleeves of the jacket in. Again, he marked both sleeves as arms can vary in length, as well as the way your carry your shoulders. I came back a week later and picked it up. Bringing up the hem on pants - $12.50. Bringing in the sleeves on a jacket - $40. I also asked about bringing in the waist on a pair of pants, and that will run you $20. Everything looks good, and I felt pretty good about supporting a business that's in its second generation of local ownership. read more

This place used to be a good place and had reasonable prices but it has drastically gone down hill. My last 3 visits I've had to have things redone and have to wait another whole week only to find the results less than acceptable. I recently had pants tapered and hemmed and you could only see they were hemmed. I left them another week to get them fixed. The 2nd time I came back, they still looked bad and fixed them on the spot but then they decided to charge me double. I have saved all my receipts and depending on their mood or what they think they can get out of you is what they will charge. If they feel you will pay more, they add tax. Other times no tax. Friendly to your face, but they like to gouge you when they can. I'll be finding another tailor. read more

This is the best place for alterations that I've found in the Salt Lake area. I've consistently had good results over the last few years with everything I've brought to them. Everything comes back fitting how I want it to, and the prices are fair. Hem lines are straight, thread is matched, and the service is friendly and warm. Turnaround times are usually about 1 week, but can be longer if you have several items to be done. Not a ton to say about a tailor shop... but they were nice, efficient and very affordable. I purchased some jeans at Nordstrom Rack, which their in-house tailor said would take about 10 days to be shortened, and $26 to keep the original hem sense it would look much better. Naw. The very nice lady at Stitched Specialties charged me $8.50 without the original hem (which looks just fine) and had my jeans done in a week! I'll definitely be going back here! read more

My dad recommended Stitched Specialties to me when I needed to get the length of a pair of dress pants altered. They had me in and out in just a few minutes with the fitting, and I was able to pick them up in less than a week. The next time that I needed a pair of pants shortened, I went back to Stitched Specialties and received the same great service. I am about to go back to Stitched Specialties to get another pair of dress pants shortened, and I know that I will be well taken care of. I've been using this place for random alterations and repairs for years. Prices and service have always been reasonable. However I believe the business has taken a turn for the worse. I took a flannel shirt to them that was old and missing numerous buttons. I asked them to replace the buttons with new ones. They told me I would have to bring my own buttons. I thought it was kind of weird that they didn't have buttons there but whatever I went down the road and bought some buttons. They charged me nearly $30 to sew the buttons on the shirt. I wore the shirt one time and washed it. When I went to put the shirt on the second time all the buttons fell off. Yep that's right, every damn button they had sewn on, fell off. I could understand one, maybe two, but all of them? That's beyond the realm of shoddy. There is plenty of good competition in the valley. better step it up or you're gonna lose that customer base you so depend on. I guess I'll suck it up and sew my own buttons. It can't be that hard. read more

I only needed to have my measurements taken for a medieval themed out-of-state wedding and the owner did them himself because the other staff were busy. He was very quick and efficient and didn't mind that I needed 25 different measurements. He refused to take any money for the service, just wished me well with the event. Three other tailors flat out turned me away (or told me they didn't know how to do it, yeah right!), even when I told them I would pay for the service - they evidently didn't want to bother with me if they didn't anticipate a larger payday. The owner of stitched specialities was so gracious, I plan to take my clothing there for altering when needed in the future. read more

I needed to get my measurements taken for an out of state wedding. The man took my measurements right there in less than 5 minutes and handed me a reciept with all the information I need. When I tried to give him 10 dollars he said he couldn't accept, but when I want to get my suits tailored to bring them in. I absolutely will. This place rocks. read more

My legs are unusually short so ALL my jeans have to be rolled up several times. I found this place a year ago and they had hemmed every pair of jeans I own and they do a great job. This place is probably 3 1/2 stars. Most of their alterations were to my liking, however they might forget something you wanted done. Example, I took in my great great grandfather's suit coat to get it slimmed. They didn't slim it as much as I asked for, and also they didn't sew the buttons back on after I asked them to and even showed them the extra buttons were in the pocket. I've appreciated their business, but I'll be looking for new prospects. read more

I needed a lot of alterations done to some second-hand suits, and I wanted some giant boxy dress shirts tapered. The people at Stitched Specialties were super nice, patient, and did an excellent job. They knew that things had to be done in stages (get the pant waist right before doing the hems). When it was all said and done, I had some fairly complicated alterations done to a 3 piece suit, 2 piece suit, suit jacket, and 3 dress shirts. Apparently I have one leg longer than the other (nobody has paid that attention to detail before), but it's amazing what a 1/4 inch does. At the final fitting, they made a couple adjustments on the spot so I didn't have to come back. They made sure things were right before I left and guaranteed their work if it didn't look right after it got cleaned and pressed. The pricing seemed fair, although I didn't shop around. I'm very happy with them and will be going back. Highly recommended. read more

The tailor added a corset backing to my mother's wedding dress that I wore for my own wedding this past month. They were VERY reasonable in pricing, and did an excellent job on my dress. My mom and I were so scared to send her dress off for alteration, but they did a beautiful job. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars was for some poor communication and scheduling issues. When I called to set up a final fitting, the employees (multiple) couldn't find my name and kept asking if my dress was already there with them, which obviously is concerning for a customer. Then it was difficult to find a time to come in to get fitted; I work full time and am a full time college student, so my schedule is hard, but they were reluctant to find a good time for everyone. All worked out well, I would just recommend to the business to work on communication skills for ease of their customers. read more

I had the length on the sleeves of blazer altered. It was overpriced. They left a rough edge on the seam instead of folding it in so that it is fraying now. They also ironed the jacket and now it is shiny. I can't recommend them for anything important. I'm sure they are great at hemming a pair of pants or replacing a button, but that's it. read more
