During this pandemic I am ALL ABOUT supporting small businesses!! I have an alterations lady I always go to back home in CA, but after moving to UT I really had no idea who was going to be good or not. It was about 1.5 weeks before I had to leave back to CA for a wedding and I needed my bridesmaid dress tailored. I called around a few places and came across Ace Alterations. From the moment Kim picked up the phone, I knew I wanted to give her a try! She was super sweet and very reasonably priced compared to other places. It's a little shop in the Handel's/Trader Joe's plaza. Upon arrival she was really friendly greeting me and even remembered I was the one who called earlier. I showed a picture of how the dress should look and Kim did a great job giving her input as to how much I should shorten the bridesmaid dress. She ended up charging less than what she quoted on the phone which was really nice!! The turn around time was quick and she finished before the estimated finish date. Upon pickup of the dress, everything fit perfect and it was the exact length I wanted! Kim did an amazing job with the alterations, the seams looked flawless. She did a dress for me that was so hard to alter because it had 2 different straps and boning in the dress but she did it and it fit perfectly! Kim did AMAZING. I'm 5"2 and pretty petite so I have a hard time finding pants that fit me correctly. I brought in 4 pairs of pants to have the waist brought in and hemmed. They all fit me like a glove now! I've never had pants fit me so well! She works super fast and is very fair with her prices, not to mention she is super sweet! I was so impressed with Ms Kim. My daughter was asked to be in a wedding and the maids dress came from an online store. We got the dress and it definitely needed to be taken up by about 3", the body fit, but not well. It just kinda sat on her body. First off- we walked in at 5 after 3 on a Saturday. I thought she was open until 6. I was wrong. Ms Kim was so nice about it and I offered to come back another day but she welcomed us in and took time to take a look at it that day. We went back two weeks later to pick it up and the bottom hem was perfect, but my daughter had lost a little weight and the top was still just a little too big. Again, it's a Saturday and about 2 pm. We needed the dress for that Monday. We offered to take the dress and say we'd just pin it, but Ms Kim insisted we leave it because she was already planning to work late. We left the dress and came back 4 hours later (after the shop had closed) and picked up the dress. She did an absolutely beautiful job. The dress fit her perfect and I could see my daughter felt very confident in wearing it. As for price- I have no idea. I'm sure there are a number of factors that impact that. I will say our alterations weren't just a simple tuck. I think she took the shell of the entire dress out and re-created it. She was concerned about how the dress hung on my daughter and if it was even and had clean lines. I will definitely use this shop again. read more

I have been bringing in my work uniforms for about five years. Everything has been done top notch. (centered patches, hemmed pants, fitted shirts). Recently, Kim repaired seven pairs of uniform pants that were worn thin, split at the seams and abrasive holes throughout. All I needed was a rough repair but all seven pants were repaired like new. I'm new to the area, so was a little nervous about entrusting my bridesmaid dress a mere few weeks before the big day...but it honestly went without a hitch (sorry, I hate cliches but my brain is on vacation right now). Owners are polite and there is a bit of a language barrier, but I threw in some Korean and things were totally fine. Dress got altered in a few places (the pains of being so short), so the price was reasonable and was ready for pick up in one week. I needed a dress hemmed with less than a week notice and she had it completed within one business day and with excellent quality.

I ordered a technical running top at a steep discount and the first time I wore it, the zipper broke. I loved the top and I couldn't return it, so I took a chance and brought it to Ace Alterations to see if they could fix it. It is technical fabric so I think it is hard to sew (I don't sew so I'm guessing). They did!! It looked great! The fabric was a really tough color to match yet they matched it so well that I can't tell a difference in colors! The price was super reasonable, too. I took a chance and I'm so glad I did! I've been going to this place to have my dresses altered since summer 2009 and I'm always trilled with the results. It was recommended to me by the folks over at 'The Perfect Dress' close by, after buying my wedding dress which needed to be altered. The owner has excellent customer service etiquette, listens to what I'd like done, is willing to give me discounts when I take a few dresses at a time, and can do the work within a decent timeline (2-3 weeks - depending on the number of dresses and the time of year). I'm also impressed by the business hours they provide Mon-Sat 9am till 7pm!! For hemming 2 dresses it cost just under $50. All the dresses I've had her alter always look taylor-made after she's done her magic so the price is worth every penny for the end results. For someone who is on the petite-size with curves and likes body-fitting dresses, this place is a godsend. read more
