I would strongly caution anyone considering Stitch on Main for wedding attire or alterations. Our experience involved significant and repeated errors across both suits and dresses, along with extremely unprofessional behavior leading up to the wedding. Suit Issues: * All 9 rental suits arrived in the wrong sizes due to incorrect measurements taken by the shop. Several groomsmen recognized the measurements were off at the time, which is why I proactively provided correct sizes in advance, yet the suits still came in wrong. * Both fathers' purchased suits were also incorrect (pants several sizes too large, vest too small). * The groom's suit had to be purchased elsewhere days before the wedding after multiple failed reorders. * Most notably, one groomsman was given the wrong suit color entirely (the groom's color), which was only discovered on the wedding day. This is clearly visible in photos and should have been caught prior to pickup. * Groomsmen had to make multiple trips to the shop due to ongoing errors and limited business hours. Dress & Alteration Issues: * My bustle failed within an hour, forcing me to hold my dress for the remainder of the night. As shown in photos, I had to physically hold the gown to keep it off the ground, which made dancing and moving around uncomfortable and even left marks on my arm the next day. * The cups in my gown were not fully sewn, and a strap was sewn on twisted. * A visible tag showed through my dress, which I had to cut out myself on the wedding day after it was dismissed by the owner during my final fitting. * My maid of honor's dress was altered so poorly it was unwearable. * Additional bridesmaid issues included incorrect hemming, poor fit adjustments, and repeated zipper failures. Customer Experience: * When I came for final pickup, I was met with aggressive and confrontational behavior, including raised voices and items being slammed, bringing me to tears just days before my wedding. * Despite clear errors, I was told I would be charged for reorders caused by their mistakes. * After the wedding, the shop refused accountability, declined refunds, and instead contacted a groomsman directly rather than addressing the impact on us as the couple. As a group, we spent over $3,000, and the experience was stressful, disorganized, and far below what should be expected for a wedding vendor. Mistakes can happen, but the lack of ownership, professionalism, and resolution is what makes this experience especially disappointing. Highly, highly, highly, recommend. The entire staff is wonderful, the experience was everything I could have hoped for, got my dream dress and made wonderful memories in the process. It was 2021 and my stepdaughter was getting married. It took forever to find a store that actually carried formal wear. I brought the dress to Stitch on Main with only 3 weeks to the wedding for alterations. I cannot express what a fantastic job she did on such short notice! Just brought my "Mother of the Groom" dress to her for alterations. She is contacting the designer for extra material to alter the back (a little too young for me). Melanie saved the day! I was in ct for the summer with an upcoming wedding in Florida where we live . I had purchased my dress in Florida with the intent of having my dress altered there , due to unforeseen circumstances I had to come to ct earlier then expected and have the dress altered here . not knowing about stitch on main I took it to David's bridal in Manchester! what a mistake! they almost ruined my dress! i needed a few other dresses altered and posted on the local news page asking for recommendations and she was recommended,. I bring my other dresses to her not knowing that it was also a bridal shop! after telling her what was going on at David's she said when I went for the next fitting ( already had been back forth to David's 5 times and still the dress wasn't fixed right) I brought it to her and within a week she had it fitting me picture perfect! thanks so much to Melanie and her staff! don't hesitate to go in and see her for expert and complicated alterations and her bridal shop is beautiful, she has the best selection of dresses . read more

Used Yelp to get a quote for alterations near me and Stitch on Main came up! There was a very quick response from the owner as well as a price estimate. She was very responsive to my questions and very patient with me (I was very unprepared). This was a last minute job on a dress I ordered off the internet. She worked around my schedule (which is normally hard because I work during business hours) to meet me and took only a few days to make the alterations! The pricing was cheaper than I thought and the dress came out perfectly! Her shop is very cute, she is very pleasant, efficient, and professional! I know it is hard as a new business so I had to come on and give a great review! I will be coming here for all future alterations! read more

Melanie is truly a kind and amazing seamstress. From the initial phone call to the try on and then the completion of the alteration was easy, quick, and extremely well done. The price was reasonable and was done in under a week. She met all my needs for my bridesmaid dress and the dress looks untouched and perfect. I brought my maid of honor dress to be brought in, hemmed and have the back of my bra covered with said hemming scraps. I had ordered the dress overly large to accomodate my chest, as I'm quite busty and theres no give in this fabric. I went to pick it up and was visibly upset to find not one strap to cover it as requested, but two to showcase it. I pointed this out and was questioned whether I had worn the bra to the fitting, and was told that wasn't what her notes said. As i said I am large in the chest, why would I request two straps that do not hide the bra? I was then told to just go braless, which is not an option for someone of my chest size. I took the dress, because I had to go meet the bride for her fitting elsewhere. The seamstresses at the other fitting, when told about the issues, asked to see the dress and were just as flabbergasted as I was about the issue. They also pointed out that I had a lot more room than I should in the waist. I have not lost any meaningful amount of weight. I was not offered or even asked if I wanted the scrap material from the dress. and when asked if I could have them she stated she did not have them. Yes I dropped it off in late February, and it is now May, that is my own doing as I did not want to have it at my home to get dog hair all in it, so I waited to pick it up close to the date trusting that it had been done right. I emailed about the problems and was given several "I did what I was asked to do, if you have fit issues now it is not my fault." No apologies not acknowledgement of being in the wrong until confronted with evidence that I had not asked for what I was given. I had to take it elsewhere to get it fixed properly. Poor customer service skills, and an inability to take responsibility for the issue she created. read more
