If you are in need of business professional attire... GO HERE!!! I wish I could give this store 1000 stars. I came in about 3 weeks ago with an absolute fashion emergency. I came across Stackpole Moore Tyron and I truly believe it was a sign from the universe. I was met with a beyond accommodating, accepting, and encouraging staff. I had the honor of being assisted and styled by the owner Jody. She created the PERFECT outfit that not only fit my price range, but most importantly made me feel confident, beautiful, and ready to tackle the event I had to go to. It was all done in under 20 minutes, then I was out the door. The staff and shopping experience is the best I have ever had in my life, and I mean that. Hartford can be downright classy. Case in point - Stackpole Moore Tryon, one of downtown Hartford's few clothing stores, and certainly the most upscale of the few. With its spacious layout and expansive selection of men's & women's clothing and accessories (swanky upscale designers), I was impressed with my first visit today. I always find myself on Pratt Street, whether for meetings at Jojo's or a beer at Vaughns, and never until today stopped into SM&T. Oh, the shame! While the store could appear potentially stuffy, Nick and I found the employees to be just wonderful - so friendly and helpful (shoutout to Lauren especially)! I think the men's section may be a bit better than the women's (BEAUTIFUL clothes, shoes, belts, hats, bowties - everything) or maybe it's just that the women's clothing here isn't really my style. Or maybe it WOULD be my style if I didn't work from home and look like a slob all the time. The store has some gorgeous office-chic dresses and other women's apparel. Gotta say, it's pricy, but the quality is certainly there. read more

Places like this are unfortunately rare. Excellent selection of top quality clothing and accessories. The level of service is far above that of a chain store. I am in Hartford from out of town, and had a mishap in travel. My cologne bottle leaked in my bag and I have a meeting in the morning at 10AM. I am not easy to fit for a suit due to my size. At 3PM I was able to pick up a great suit that will be tailored and ready for pickup in the morning. I will definitely be stopping here everytime i make my way to Hartford. read more

The best. A great selection of men's clothing, shoes and accessories. The goods are top quality and carefully chosen. The service here is fantastic. They remember my likes and dislikes and often manage to find me something I wouldn't have thought to buy, but when worn, always gets me compliments. It's worth the trip downtown all by itself. Went in needing help for a special event and was SO impressed. The service was amazing -- they brought in potential dresses and suits from their outlet -- and once I found the most perfect dress, they did overnight alterations to ensure the fit was perfect. I ended up purchasing 2 outfits, instead of just 1, because the items were just lovely. Can't wait to go back. read more

Yeah. LOVE it. I wandered in SM today and walked out 300 dollars poorer but much happier. The prices aren't bad-- For example, I got a top for 80 dollars and pants for 120. What sells the store, though, is the customer service. I was dressed in yoga pants, no makeup, and hair that hasn't been tended to in days, and they treated me like i was Michelle Obama. I drank coffee; the clerks ran all over the store to find items in my size; no one tried to up-sell me or convince me to buy a 600-dollar cardigan. They admired my choices and gave legitimately good advice. LOVE. read more

This place is amazing. Walk in and step into a very upscale and elegant store. No disarray of clutter, everything is neatly stacked, folded and properly on display. This is a TRUE, fine quality Men's and Women's clothing store; something exceedingly rare in today's "Made in China" disposable marketplace and tacky "Ed Hardy-esq" trends. A place where a true gentleman can find a sophisticated suit, a unique shirt, and a lady can find elegant attire for work, play or formal soirees. They have an assortment of shoes, suits and accessories along with some very nice shirts by designers such as Etro (Not many places that carry Etro in the Hartford, CT area) The owner carefully selects the merchandise, a true man of refined taste with a good eye. While I certainly do (usually) like the service at Nordstrom, the service here is on another level. Upon walking in, you will be greeted by a true professional with a good eye. They will spend the time needed to find just what you're looking for, never making you feel pressured. The people here navigate the store knowing where each and every item is placed; and never afraid to show you all your options. They will spend time with you pairing items together until you find something that you love. While not cheap, the pricing is appropriate and very reasonable for the selection of brands and quality; as well as the service. They offer a very large selections of fabric samples for custom suits, shirts in addition to their store selection. A place like this is a true gem in Hartford. 5 stars isn't enough, they deserve double that. read more

Great high end clothing store. I was here for business for a long period last year and this became my go to place for new suits, shirts etc. Clothing is really top notch and the tailoring was expert. Staff is pleasant and helpful. I'd probably be broke if I lived in Hartford,l though because I'd spend most of my paycheck here. read more

Bought a private label suit only to notice after in house tailoring that the sleeve pitch is completely off and as a result there is significant wrinkling and creases when standing at a relaxed position. In house tailoring also isn't worth it as very little was done and I'm going to have to go to my tailor to see if I can salvage the suit. The material is nice however I have serious concerns about the construction. My JCrew Ludlow is better off the rack than the house brand at stackpole. Bluejacket is the label inside the suit and for a price that north of 500 I would avoid at all costs. It's hard to salvage a suit with nice materials when the construction is so off. Hopefully my tailor is a wizard but even if he fails I will not be returning to this once highly regarded establishment read more

OMG!!! This is such a great place. I happen to own a men's store(100 miles from here) so we are not competitors!! Let's be friends! You will find a perfect level of personal service here. The staff is warm, friendly, honest and helpful. This is honestly the first time that I found a place that offers service similar to what my own store does.l, so I got a taste of personal shopping done right. I felt at home here, part of the family. If you need something special, you are sure to find it here, or have it personalized to your needs. Jody and her husband Roy have created an atmosphere worthy of a queen, without the snootiness. Whether you are shopping for the man or the lady, it is a great place. I am thrilled to have found a gown for my daughter's wedding. The clothing here is fun. Designers are highlighted. You can be creative and funky, or traditional and classic. Went to buy a specific men's shoe (I knew the mfg and model). They ordered it. Was supposed to come in the next week. At two weeks I called. Nothing. Another week later they did call on a Thursday to say the shoes did not come in. After five weeks, I still had no shoes. And only received one phone call in those five weeks. I had to call weekly. Finally I left a message on their web site on a Friday night, after hours that I wanted to speak to the owner. I got a quick, terse reply to call the manager (not the owner). Naturally the manager was on vacation when I called that Monday morning. Learning the manager was on vacation for the week, I then asked to speak with the owner (again, but to an employee). I was told he was with a customer so he could not come to the phone. Hmmm. I thought I was a customer. I waited, no call. I drove there, walked in. My name and number were written on paper on the front counter. The owner was reading his ledger standing behind the front counter. Did not acknowledge my existence. And obviously the note to call me. No "hello, can I help you?" Overtly rude. I waited in silence, at the front counter. The salesman attended to me nicely. But admitted that the order had not been fulfilled and was not able to explain why. I cancelled my order. It was obvious I was fuming. The salesman apologized graciously. The owner still did not acknowledge me or apologize. The courtesy of a return phone call would have been appreciated. And professional. My wife placed an order for me with her iphone from Zappos. Two days later I got the shoes. I love them. And it was the same price. In this digital world, one would think that customer service would be a differentiater from ordering product on the web. It escapes me why such lack of courtesy is afforded to a first time shopper. My capstone experience occurred when, a week later, I walked by en route to the theater. The owner showed his true character. I overheard him as he was standing in front of his shop, talking to a friend, using really foul language. Nice suit, foul language, no respect for the customer. read more

I happened upon Stackpole several months ago while waiting for a friend at Citizens Bank. I didn't plan to buy a thing. But a dress called out to me. A funky yet classy one, which was also washable. One that looked like I'd bought it in NYC. Since then I've bought other items. All at a reasonable price. especially for clothes that stand out in a crowded room. The sales staff is helpful and provide suggestions that match my personal style. The store is a hidden gem. read more

One of the best clothing stores that I have ever used. They carry just the right styles and the sales people have the Tate expertise and tact to guide you to what you need, and want. I think the prices are overall very fair for the quality and styles on offer. If it were feasible I would get all my clothes from there. read more

The selection in clothes is fine. You can find all of the typical upmarket names here. They even carry Alden shoes if I'm not mistaken. I would put the place a notch above Brooks Brother in quality , if I am to compare it t a well known name. The clothes they carry while not quite my style are very well made and worth the money. The service is where my gripe is I visited them a few years ago, admittedly rather shabbily dressed, looking to purchase some grey flannel trousers. I was greeted by the most condescending salesmen I've ever encountered and I visit the infamous Andover Shop when in the Bean. It was bad enough that I decided to buy my trousers from Brooks Brothers at the mall, and I despise malls. Considering the constant downsizing the place has down since I was a youth you'd figure they'd pursue every sale, and provide great customer service, clearly that's not the case. I doubt I'll ever go there again. read more
