Well... all I can say is wow do I miss my go to place "Taste of Sichuan" in Beaverton! They had a fire a few months back and we are struggling to find anything even remotely good. (We went at least once every week or so) I wish I had good things to say about Sir Crazy Kitchen. For the price of Stir Crazy Kitchen the amount of food was a joke! The flavor was lackluster and bland as all get-out! That should summarize my visit.

I'm so sad to lose my favorite Chinese restaurant. We were near Stir Ceazy for the first time since moving out of the PDX metro a couple years ago. I got so excited for my favorite Mandarin Crispy Eggplant and my husband was looking forward to House Special Lo Mein. What a huge disappointment. It looks like there are new owners and definitely new recipes. Our food was not delicious. Bland, lacking everything we loved like flavor, color, fresh ingredients. the eggplant was covered in raw onions...what? The lo mein had no protein- a few small pieces of chicken but no shrimp, beef or vegetables. The kitchen has been covered by a wall- you can no longer see the chefs cooking. In this case it's probably a good thing... They're cooking garbage back there. We left our full plates on the table and left. We paid the full price even after talking to the owner and the person at the front. They didn't seem to care.

One thing Portland area does not have good option, is Korean Chinese restaurant? Korean Chinese food is very different from regular Chinese food and in big cities, there are many choices., Recently found Stir Crazy Kitchen, and I am so glad gave it a try. Their Kanpoong chicken, not on w gloss menu, just on Korean menu is crispy and plenty spicy, sweet well caramelized. Jampong ( spicy seafood noodle soup) was also really good. Not much seafood in it thigh. Also has Korean Chinese style sweet and sour beef. Nice and crunchy ( request sauce on the side) was excellent as well. So if you are seeking Korean Chinese food, this is the best place in portland area. Next time will try their regular menu.

I recently tried this spot after hearing that they are owned by the workers at former legendary spot, China Jade. And in fact they kept all of their menu from that restaurant also. Make sure to ask for the secret Korean/China Jade menu. So had to try and was delighted to see that the quality of food stayed the same. It was as delicious as I remembered. The jjam bong portions were giant, an spicy broth was so refreshing. I highly recommend! I also noticed that the front of the house was being managed by one person, she was so kind attentive and was working extremely hard. This restaurant didn't seem too busy, an I think that's such a shame! The food is excellent with incredible pricing. Especially the lunch specials. I hope others find the time to stop by an enjoy this excellent food.

Food - Food was cold in areas and warm particularly in the middle. Service - Service was quick and friendly. 2/5 Overall - Would not recommend

Seafood noodle soup. Very good

Delicious food. We had seafood noodle soup. Delicious. Authentic Northern Chinese cuisine. The chef used to work at Lin's China Jade, which was closed after 30 plus years in business. The owners retired. Staff are very friendly.

They gave my son a key chain on the way out. Thanks!

There is one huge…read morereason, they use significantly less oil in their dishes but still use quality ingredients where the flavor stands out without the oil. Typically at most Chinese restaurants, especially fried dishes, you'll see a pool of oil at the bottom of the dish. This is not the case here, and their sauces also keep their oil usage to the minimum. The food doesn't feel as heavy, and they nail most of their Szechuan flavors well. Their service is always fast and friendly. There is a gentleman in glasses that is always happy to serve and answer your questions. He is always happy to pack your food for you to go if you have leftovers as well, which is a lovely gesture. They have very cute decorations inside, from lucky cats with fortune cookies in their mouths, or a painted wall with a Panda cooking delicious food. I'd steer clear from their soup dishes, most of them lack flavor. I highly recommend their Chopped Pepper Fish and their Jade Tofu items though. Very flavorful and not very heavy! Plenty of parking is available which is lovely for eating in Portland, do not let this spot be missed if you've never tried it!

We ordered it with no additional requests, but the owner let us know that we could adjust it to be milder or more intense depending on our preference. We also tried the spicy fried chicken. The seasoning was flavorful,l and the chicken was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The bok choy was nicely cooked with the right amount of garlic. The portion sizes were generous for the price. I'm not very good with extremely spicy food, so I ended up drinking a lot of water. The staff kept coming by to refill my glass without me even asking, which I really appreciated. Everyone was very friendly. The restaurant itself is casual, bright, and spacious.

Let me start by saying the staff are SO nice. They'll consistently come back to your table and make…read moresure everything is alright. There are booths where you order food to come cooked, and then the hot pot tables where you order the ingredients and cook them yourself. It's very interactive, and they have plenty of meats, vegetables, tofu, dumplings and noodles. You can choose the broth you want at the beginning and they'll bring out the pot. Each pot is split in 2, so you order one regular broth and then a spicy broth. They also have a veggie broth, which I really enjoy. You can grab things from the salad bar, and they have different sauces/oils you can take and add to your soup. You're able to really customize the experience. It's a fun little experiment you get to do with your friends and family. The space itself is busy with customers walking around and staff brining drinks and food, but it's not crazy. We joke that the steam from the soup is a nice facial treatment. Lol. You can end the night with an ice cream cone and lollipop in the waiting room. I've been a few times, and I will say the first time is overwhelming with trying to figure out what to do, but after that you get more confident and interested in curating a soup that's to your taste.

Once we were seated though, things went downhill. Only one person out of our four person table had done hot pot before, the rest of us were clueless. The server didn't bother to ask if we understood how to order and were super unhelpful every time we asked a question, kind of waving us off. Apparently you place an order and have to wait 20 minutes before you can place another order? What? I've been to kbbq plenty of times and have never been met with this delay. We got their original soup base and curry base. Both were mid. Not very flavorful until the very very end when we had finished cooking and were ready to leave. Maybe eating boiled meat just isn't for me, but I feel like everything was pretty bland and tasteless. The best part of the meal was the ice cream we grabbed on the way out imo. They gave us $20 off coupons randomly, said we couldn't use them that night. Probably a ploy to get us to go back, but not even with a discount like that would I go back. Straight to the trash. Save yourself and go to kbbq or the Asian buffet that's 10 min away. Disappointing night out with the fam.

Sichuan Taste was a perfect pit stop on a road trip from the South Bay up to Seattle. We rolled…read morethrough Portland and stopped for a few plates, and everything punched way above a typical highway stop. The smashed cucumber salad was super refreshing -- lots of garlic, crunchy, and exactly what you want after hours in the car. The green onion pancakes came out crispy and satisfying, but my favorite was the wood ear mushroom. They did something to it that made it insanely umami and savory, like a dish you keep thinking about later. The fried rice was solid and full of flavor, and you could tell the kitchen cared. The dining room was pretty empty when we went, so maybe it's newer or underrated, which feels unfair because the food deserves more people. Parking around there is kind of a hassle and the neighborhood isn't the prettiest, but this is a definite stop for me next time I'm in Portland.

Shoutout to everyone still working on Thanksgiving Day! Because of hardworking folks like you,…read morepeople who don't celebrate holidays like me can still eat out. I'm super grateful. Before coming, I did my homework and checked reviews on Chinese review website. The opinions were kinda extreme, some said it was terrible, others said it was amazing. Since it was only a 1 minute walk from my hotel and actually open on Thanksgiving, I went for it. I ordered jalapeño beef 小炒牛肉, veggie chow mein 蔬菜炒面, and string beans 干煸四季豆. The beef came out first, and the first bite surprised me. It didn't taste like the jalapeño beef from other Sichuan restaurants. It tasted exactly like Cantonese beef with gailan, but with green bell peppers instead. Instead of tingly spicy, it had a subtle sweetness. If you're Cantonese, you probably know exactly what I mean. The veggie chow mein was good and reminded me of late night street noodles in Guangzhou, and it also had a slightly sweet touch. The string beans were good too, and didn't have any sweetness. There was some savory minced pork in it. If you're not a strict vegetarian and don't mind a little meat in the dish as long as you only eat the veggie part, go for this one, it was flavorful. While having dinner, I overheard Cantonese in the kitchen between the chef and staff, and ahhh, that explains why I tasted the Cantonese flavor in my dishes! It also explains the two types of extreme reviews. So let me be honest, if you come here expecting the Sichuan/Hu'nan version of stir-fried beef with a strong spicy profile, you might be disappointed. But for me, it was honestly a lucky hit. I did see some Sichuan spicy dishes on the menu, but I didn't order them, so I can't say if they're authentic. But based on what I ordered tonight, I was happy with everything.
