What happened here was fairly dark. A group of young men kept taking the mic away from anyone who requested a song - including my wife, who had selected a song that was her recently deceased father's favorite. My wife's friend asked them to let her sing it, and when they refused, she raised her voice and told them to get off of the stage. The young men proceeded to call her a bitch and threatened her with violence. Immediately afterward, the same men in their 20s complained to the bouncer who then told us we had to leave. The young men who had taken over the stage for no less than three hours were allowed to stay, despite ordering little but the cheapest beers. Thankfully several strangers followed us out and apologized, but they don't work for the place so it did nothing to change my impression of the business. Don't give this place money. I'd take terrible food and poor service any day instead of consoling my wife over public humiliation. This was my worst dining experience to date, and I'm a man of 41 years who is no stranger to dive bars or sketchy venues. A bunch of drunk men screaming bloody murder at a lone woman at 11:15pm shouldn't happen anywhere. Avoid avoid avoid. read more

If you love karaoke, you gotta come here! Even though there were a lot of ppl, getting a chance to sing was pretty quick. I also loved how everyone became friends. By the end of the night we merged our group with another and were swapping stories. It was a great night! The food smelled really good. Ordered the steak tacos and they were a little bland. BEST fish filet entree so far up and down Quintana Roo! I know, it doesn't look promising from the outside! Hear me out- For survey purposes, over the past 3 weeks I have repeatedly ordered the fish filet entree with garlic that you can find in almost any seafood restaurant all over Holbox, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and even in Huatulco. Surprisingly this tourist trap looking joint delivered the best combo of taste and value. If you don't want to feel like you never left America with the music videos on blast or karaoke after 8pm in the downstairs main dining area, opt for the second floor where they play live Spanish music. They use bass for the fish, slightly charred and perfectly flaky unlike grouper that some other restaurants used. Garlic flavour definitely came through. Even the side veggies are well-seasoned yet simple. Rice was on the soggy side but it's not why I ordered this dish so no points lost there. Generous portion but not heavy! Great for lunch or dinner. I can keep going... Service is on par with the rest of island, staff speaks good English as well. Not sure if they take credit cards. Let me start out by saying that I have not tried the food. We solely stopped here for drinks. Our bartender, Ever, was awesome at keeping us "stocked." Before the needle hit Empty, we were replenished with a fresh round. And...the drink quality was better than other bars that we tried on the island. From beer to cocktails to shots -- everything was on point. Unlike many of the other places on the island. Stingray also accepts credit cards. This will save you a trip to the ATM. MAJOR TOURIST TRAP The atmosphere here is so cute and fun with being right on a busy street and the drinks are good but they come at a COST. We were there for a couple of hours and were shocked when we got the bill. There was about 8 of us and when we left, our tab was several hundred dollars that we were not expecting!!! Shots are literally the same price as a large mixed drink. They also add tip into the price but then tell you they don't to try to get more tip. Avoid this place at all cost!!! read more

One of my fiancé and I's favorite places to come together, when we visit the island! The food is excellent. I typically get ceviche, or one of their many shrimp dishes. My fiancé gets Calamares Rellenos, which is stuffed calamari. Sooo good. As for drinks, their bar is one of the best features. Drinks are great. We ordered two beers, mixed ceviche, a skirt flank fajita, and a grilled fish - the sides to the skirt flank were delicious (cooked tomato and onion as well as really good hand-cut fries) and the ceviche was large. The grilled snapper was exactly just that but good. The place just opened so the staff is a little on the noob side, but they are eager and nice, and the food is decent, both price-wise and quality-wise. The only thing that irked me was realizing after the fact that the bill was added wrong and they tacked on a 67 peso... what, tip? We tipped another 20% on top so they got a 30% tip. This place is eclectic. Fish on one end and swings at the bar on the other. The food is delicious i got the shrimp and they were enormous and delicious. My husband got the lobster pizza and couldn't stop complimenting it. My daughter doesnt like seafood or Mexican much they had a hamburger for her. As with anywhere you visit make sure you double check your bill! We caught two errors on our bill last night 1) we were charged for food we did not order (we only had drinks). 2) when we told the waiter about the food he grabbed the bill and came back with a hand written total (minus the food) that did not add up to the correct amount, it was 300 pesos more than it should have been. read more

We were staying at Ixchel Hotel just across the street and stopped in because of the their "3 tacos & a beer for $120" sign out front. This spot is solid! I had a massive lobster cooked to order and their lime soup. I can't say the the lobster was done well as it was over cooked, but the lime soup was divine. I've had lime soup on the main land, Cozumel, probably a dozen places overall. Their lime soup, which had chicken in it, was amazing. Best ever in ten years all over Yucatán Mexico. Service was ok. It was hot other than when the fan hit you, but the soup, did I mention the lime soup???? Worth a visit. read more

A great time was had at this bar/restaurant during our stay in Isla Mujeres. It seemed to be the busiest place on Hidalgo at night... especially on Thursday and Saturday nights when we were there (or nearby). They have karaoke every night and that is always a lot of fun... especially after a couple of drinks. ;) The 2nd time that I stopped by, the waiter remembered me and what I ordered the last time that I was there which was very sweet. :) Their piña coladas are very good and not watered down! The only thing that I didn't like was that the Women's Restroom was gross! They didn't have soap in the dispenser and the stall is too small! If I could give it 0 stars, I would. We came here (me and my 3 friends) on a Tuesday night since they have a band and karaoke every night at 8pm. We ordered 4 margaritas initially which we had to send back. There was no alcohol in the drinks whatsoever. When we ordered our second one there was a little bit more but not as much as other places we have been to previously. Each one had less than the next as the night went on. In total we had ordered 14 margaritas between the 4 of us, 2 orders of steak tacos, and chips and salsa (which was disgusting). At around 9:30pm, the restaurant had lost power. The night was basically over and the restaurant began to clear out. Our server, Benny, was absent most of the night. We were chasing him down to order drinks and food. We decided to leave since they could no longer make drinks or food with no power and when we asked for the check we were in complete shock. The bill was $300 USD. It said we had ordered 19 margaritas which was completely untrue. We were all completely sober and counting each drink we got as we ordered throughout the night. Benny was rude and provided basically no service whatsoever. When we asked to speak to a manager we were denied and yelled at to the pay the bill. My boyfriend and I both speak Spanish (which Benny was unaware of) and we could hear him and the other servers admitting that they were ripping us off. We ended up underpaying the bill and provided no tip. This place is absolutely disgusting and expensive for no reason at all. They under-pour on their drinks and have no problem scamming their customers. DO NOT GO HERE no matter how fun it may seem. read more

We decided to stop here while cruising the day away on our golf cart. Its a really attractive atmosphere with a family feel. We were welcomed right in and given a seat. My wife ordered a mojito, which the waiter told us was two for one. Free drinks? Bring it on. I got a Corona. The pico/salsa they bring out with chips is about the most amazing I've ever eaten. I ordered the shrimp fajitas and she ordered the chicken fajitas. They were both amazing and a great portion size. The waiter was very attentive and very nice. We got out of there for around $30. I have no idea where these favorable reviews came from. Probably people who never tried anything better on that same street. Food was inexpensive but mediocre at best, drinks decent, but the place is empty every single day and night. I don't know how they make the money to cover overhead. One of the waiters intercepting tourist trying to get their business while you're sitting at the table and he doesn't even pay attention to you any more. Then fake advertising. Before they seat you at the table, they offer anything and everything. Once you sit and order, turns out they don't have half of the stuff that's on the menu. Ok so I'm sure at first glance this place may not be inviting and I think it's the fact that it's huge and it just seems empty. BUT wow! We were so surprised to see how delicious the food is! We had the sour shrimp appetizer and it was A+ it's seriously more of a full dinner! The sauce was like a cross between Asian and Mexican so unique and tasty! I had the grilled fish 'al mojo de ajo' and it was #1 huge portion and #2 so hearty and fresh! Oh and also got a glass of wine included with my dinner for like $10 bucks are you kidding! This was better than some of the seafood restaurants in LA! Wow this place it's new but definitely a new favorite!!!! Oh my friend got the shrimp tacos! HUGE and delicious!
