BLT and fries - recommend to split it!

Sign reads: Hot Girls - Good Food - Cold Beer All true. Also great service and very clean. True local bar. Dark inside, weekend bands, outdoor patio, keno, shot wheel, bikers - don't let any of that that fool you into thinking it's a rough crowd cause it's not.

I mean if you want a classic bar burger you're going to have a hard time beating this place. This will bring back nostalgia! Burger was cooked perfectly with bacon & grilled unions and on the table in about 10 minutes. Cute chicks too! No complaints

This is supposed to be a biker bar?! We were shushed at our table because we bounced a quarter?! The food was just ok. I would not go back.

The Halfass holds such a special place in my heart, that I'm not sure that a simple review can…read morereally do it justice. Sure, it sucks that that new management came in a few years ago and painted over a lot of the old scribblings. The place has luckily regained more posters & records covers, etc. to adorn the walls. You know what? The kids here are still kinda the same -- at least in all of the important ways. When I played a show here a coupla years ago, I met a super-cool gal who reminded me of a reflection of myself at 19 or 20 -- into poetry and rock and roll. We chatted about X, and I knew that the Halfass was in good hands of this next generation. This is where I ate many greasy pounds of tempeh and curly fries in school. It's also where I poured my broken 19-yr old heart out to friends working behind the counter, then used my meal card to buy and down an entire pint of Ben & Jerry's. Not too much later, I got to do my laundry (the washers were right on the other side of the wall) while watching Low. Throughout the years the EQMC consistently brings in great bands -- both local and touring. They also provided a home for the first few ever Bang! dance parties. I first spotted my current sweetheart here. I brought him along to a show here to get the official stamp of approval from a best friend while seeing Saturday Looks Good to Me. Who knows -- without the trifecta of the Halfass, the Pirate House (RIP), and the downtown A2 Kinko's, my life may have taken a very different course. But thankfully, the Halfass was and remains there -- providing delicious greasy-ass food, pretty reliably great people, and a little incubator for musicians and students with plenty of all-ages shows.

I like this place. I like the vibe, and everything. I think EQMC people are a bit snobby though. At…read moreleast, to the New Beat Happening crowd. The first show I went to here, I left bored to get a sandwich from jimmy john's. When I came back, which was nice enough that it was allowed, I came back in time for some punk to try to steal money after jumping on stage and 'rapping'. It's nice to have some of the Detroit bands out in ann arbor, but if you have a car, it's nothing you couldn't see every week in Detroit or Ypsilanti.

This place is "off the map", in a way. Younger locals know that it's a place where you can see an…read moreart opening or hear a band play. My first experience there happened to be a photo shoot that my friend Sarah did for her Alter Ego exhibition. I was very impressed by the studio space -- it was very roomy. In one part I saw Roost Roast's coffee roasting equipment (but no sign of Roost to bug him for a cup!). There was also a desk hosting a vintage typewriter and a curious manuscript. Another section had interesting tye dyed shirts? My friend Paul's spot had some equipment for music, and it was actually his band that I got to see perform later on in that space. It was very nice, you'll see familiar faces around town. It's non-smoking, but that's ok because the porch is a very cozy place to light one. You get a great view of the night sky -- plus it's juuuust far enough from downtown to be able to kick back and relax.

Love that there's a parking lot and that it's close enough to downtown for walking, but far enough that it has that tucked-away, off-the-beaten-path vibe. The porch is a cool place to hang out and strike up a conversation with a stranger. There is only one small bathroom, which is definitely a bummer, but I can deal considering the opportunities Yellow Barn affords for the talented go-getters in this town.

Many bars and restaurants nearby if you want a drink or snack before or after your show. Entry was easy as I had tickets on my phone. I purchased general admission tickets. They do have reserved seats available at a higher price point. How GA works is you get there and the attendants tell you to sit anywhere that isn't reserved. The earlier you get there, the better seat selection you'll have. We sat at the stage for one of my favorite bands. You have a little table and chairs (either two or four). It was so intimate and cozy. I loved it. The temperature was perfect. Not freezing from AC, but not muggy. Very comfortable. Sound was excellent and electrical worked perfectly for this show. They do have drinks for sale, but I didn't have anything. Other reviews mention paying low membership dues and then you can buy alcoholic drinks. They have water and cups available too. Really great experience and can't wait to go back!

She was not friendly, and not very kind, and I even saw her scouring in the bathroom later that night. So maybe she was having a bad day. But I certainly didn't do anything to deserve it. I've been to Uptown many times, usually in the evenings for dinner and live music. It's usually a…read moregood experience once you park and get inside and as long as you have the right expectations. The place is huge: dining rooms, private room, large bar area with many TVs, a stage and dance floor area, plus an outdoor patio which is enclosed for all year round use. It is usually very busy and therefore very loud especially in the bar/TV area. The menu has lots of options including for restricted diet which I appreciate being gluten free. The portions are large, you get your money's worth, even if the food itself is not super imaginative. The salads are my favorite, and are large enough to share. The Chop salad with steak and shrimp is very filling. The Greek with chicken actually comes with a good amount of toppings, not just a single beet or pepperoncini pepper on top. The service is always great and staff is friendly and accommodating. Splitting bills even for a large group is not an issue. If you're there on a weekend night for the live music, the dance floor area can get packed. The crowd and vibe depends on which band and music genre is playing. Overall it's usually a good night out, not a lot of places where you can get dinner and dance in the same location.

When our food arrived, we were both surprised at the amount of breading on the chicken and the thick sauce. Although the flavor of the dish was good, it was much heavier than we expected. I ordered the petite baked potatoes and my friend got mashed potatoes. I preferred her mashed over the baked. The green beans were fresh and yummy. Overall a fine experience, but nothing to write home about.
