Came in with a group of 8, visiting from out of town. One of our party, a family friend staying with us who has a valid Washington State license, was checked with a black light by the owner and confirmed as legitimate. She is 25. That should have been the end of it. Instead, the owner came back and quizzed her on the capital of Washington State, as if knowing state trivia is a requirement for holding a valid ID. She's never taken a state test to live here, she just has a real license. When she couldn't answer, he refused her service and made a scene about it, loudly, in front of the whole bar. If he had doubts, the obvious move was to ask for a comparison ID or check it against another Washington license in our group. He had one right there. Instead he embarrassed a guest over a "test" that has nothing to do with ID verification, something his own industry provides actual training and guides for. We left as a group of 8 and took our business elsewhere. Reading other reviews here, this doesn't seem like an isolated incident of arbitrary, inconsistent service. Skip it. read more

I did not have a good experience on my last visit to the Post. I ordered a hamburger and wanted it cooked to medium. I might add that my father also ordered a medium hamburger. It took over 30 minutes to get our burgers. They weren't full, so I don't know what took so long. When I got my hamburger it was so undercooked, I would consider it rare. It had a fully red interior. I had trouble finding my waiter, as he did not return to check on our food. I finally flagged to him down, and told him the issue. He replied that it is just how they cook it. Now, mind you, my father's hamburger was cooked properly, and was pink only in the center. I was asked if I wanted something else. I did, but it had taken so long to get the food, that I didn't want to wait another 10-12 minutes. I sent the hamburger back, uneaten. We stopped in for dinner on a Monday evening before attending the Yelp Event in Livonia. The staff are really great - I was welcomed and seated right away. It was slow on the restaurant side, likely because it was a Monday, but the bar side was full of what looked to be "regular" patrons. Our server was really nice and very patient with my fiend and I. I ended up getting the sliders with chips. When they arrived, I started eating the first one. The buns are soft and they were served hot. That first bite was great! As I ate more into the center (these are not small patties), I found it to be slightly medium-medium well. I didn't eat the very center and didn't worry about it. Once I bit into the second one, though, I found that it wasn't cooked nearly enough so I just ate the edges since I had already ate most of the first one. Celiac/gluten-sensitive customers: beware!! As a diner with Celiac disease, I visited The Post Local Bistro and asked what items on the menu could be made gluten-free as gf items were not marked. I was told the Fried Egg BLT could be prepared with a gluten-free bun or bread but the house-made kettle chips that came with the sandwich are fried in a fryer that also fries gluten ingredients. I asked what I could safely eat with the sandwich and my server, Eva, listed appropriate options from which I chose mashed potatoes without gravy as the gravy also contained gluten. When the bill was presented to my party, I was not surprised that the gluten-free bun had a $2 upcharge (this is frequently just an unpleasant reality of gluten-free dining) but my mashed potatoes had a $6 upcharge. I asked Eva about this and she told me that sides cannot be substituted. So although I could not eat the kettle chips *and they were never served to me and were at no time on my plate*, they still wound up on the bill in addition to the plain mashed potatoes. Combined with the gluten-free bun, this made my meal cost $8 more than the menu price of $14, meaning more than half of my meal's value had to be paid over again just to make it gluten-free-friendly. Eva did not alert me to this policy when I ordered; if I had known I would have skipped having a side entirely. I could understand this policy if the choice of a different side was purely from a taste preference, but if a customer cannot eat a menu item and must make a substitution, they should not have to pay for what they have not eaten. I wrote a letter to the management of The Post Local Bistro asking them to reconsider their policy to be more accommodating of their gluten-free customers and never received a reply. Long story short--if you're gluten-free, don't eat here. The establishment doesn't care about you and will gladly force you to pay through the nose for food you can't eat. read more

I am not one to leave reviews but my most recent experience at The Post was by far the most egregious show of customer service that I have ever received. One of my friends, earlier in the night, mentioned that one of the bartenders seemed rude but I thought nothing of it. I went to the main bar for my last drink of the night (thank God, just keep reading) and I asked for an Oberon. The bartender acknowledged me and went to go help other customers- no big deal, I work retail so I know how it goes. About 15 minutes later, I am still waiting in my same spot with no drink and it seems like the bartender is intentionally ignoring me. I never once waved my card at her or called her over since it seemed like she was busy but once she made her way back over I asked once again for an Oberon (with a "please" and "thank you" of course). She went to go pour my draft and finally came back. Now, at this point in the night, I had tipped on every drink I had ordered, but on this last request I had felt ignored and pushed to the side, so I left no tip, which I have never done before. Mind you, she was giggling and chopping it up with her coworker during this time- which I understand, but you still have a job to do. While I was writing my check, the bartender was watching me the entire time, which I thought was no issue until I passed along the tab and she looks at me and says "Thanks, that's awesome" in one of the most sarcastic tones I have ever heard in my life. I decided to chalk it up to the fact that she was already having a bad night and walked off with my drink, when she came marching around the bar and fully squared up to me like she wanted to fight me. It was FULLY INTENTIONAL. Now, as someone who has been in the customer service industry for years, I understand how some customers can be rude, difficult, and downright unpleasant. Being a waiter or bartender is not always an easy job- but good service is still part of the job description. The bartender looked at me like I was nothing, a 20-something year old that was nothing but meat, and said "Thanks, thanks so much" in an even more condescending tone than she did the first time. And yes, I know I didn't tip, but I am not going to tip someone who conveniently "forgot" my simple draft beer which all was required of you is pulling a lever downwards. I am sugarcoating here the situation here, but check the cameras- the white, fake blonde with the hat and American flag shirt rudely (in a horrifically unprofessional display) outrageously confronted me about a SIMPLE, DRAFT DRINK THAT SHE OBVIOUSLY FORGOT in the most ridiculous way I have ever seen. I like The Post overall- it is typically good food, good drinks, and good vibes; however after this experience, I will never return just based on the experience I received from this singular bartender. I'm not sure if it was a ego thing- maybe she's scared of younger girls because she will never look like that again, or if she was drunk on the job (which is seems like she was), but no matter the reason, this woman has absolutely no place working with customers on any level as she is a threat to not only the patrons of the business, but the business itself. I have never in my life been treated so horrendously when I have done nothing wrong. I hope anyone that considers coming to this establishment considers this situation- based on some of the other reviews, it's not an unlikely scenario. This woman has absolutely no business being in a job that is customer-facing if she gets upset about how her poor service is reflected by a poor tip. I hate to leave a 1 star review when I do like The Post at most points- but this experience has tainted the entire business for me. The Post compares to Cheers on TV as a wonderful meeting bar and restaurant. The food is excellent in quality and quantity. The atmosphere and staff are great and friendly with a hands on management. The wait staff was well trained with a full knowledge of GF and what could be ordered cooked Ample free parking and convenient for music in the park or the movies. What a neat hangout with an interesting menu! I had the Scottish Salmon with the quinoa, kale and edamame. So delicious! The salmon was perfectly cooked. I was having a great time until a bouncer approached me and tried to grab my wrist to grab my vape out of my hand. I wasn't hitting it, It was just in my hand. And instead of using words and asking me to put it away or not hit it he simply tired to grab my wrist or the vape and told me to put it away or he was going to take it from me and have me removed. I was happy to come across The Post to order takeout during our stay at home orders. Love supporting our local businesses and not cooking too! My hubby and I ordered the salmon with edamame quinoa and a burger. I had the salmon, which was cooked just right. The edamame quinoa was so yummy too! Avoid at all costs. Place is trash now. The owner is a prick. Was drinking with friends when a passer by said something a bit out of pocket to our table. I believe it was something along the lines of "how about scooting your chair in to leave room for the rest of us?" Like what? I'm sitting here at a table and you're standing right behind it? Telling me to move in? I admittedly began to lose my temper a bit, but we told them to leave, that it was our table and our area to drink at. On Wednesdays, The Post either has Lasagna in spaghetti. All three of us ordered the spaghetti with meatballs. The dinner came with a Cesar salad and cheesy, garlic bread sticks. The bread sticks were hot and must have just come out of the oven. The quality and quantity were very good. read more

This was our first time at the Post. We were very lucky to find parking on the Main Street, otherwise I could see where parking could be difficult. We visited with a large group so we had the whole back section of the restaurant. It was a great area for a party. The back room was reserved well in advanced so I'm not sure why management wasn't prepared for us. There must have been 40-50 people in our group with a waitstaff of 2-3. They were overwhelmed with the drink and food orders and had a difficult time keeping up. This is managements fault not the waitstaff. Luckily, most of us weren't in a hurry and we spent lots of time visiting. Dave and I ordered Bistro burger meals and we really enjoyed the burgers, fries, and coleslaw. This would definitely be something we'd order again. Great flavor and very juicy and tender beef. The fries were really skinny and tasty - I enjoyed them. I also liked the fresh coleslaw. This place was so busy for a Sunday night. The women's restroom didn't have any soap and another guest said she told the staff an hour earlier. This wasn't good - We all needed to be washing our hands with soap. I also told the receptionist at the door but I didn't go back to see if it was filled. If I was basing this review strictly on the food I would rate a four but the lack of staff for a large group and soap situation in the restroom brings this review down to a three. I hope to try this place again in the future and if you like a bar type restaurant this maybe for you! read more

Started with Blackberry Coconut cocktail - coconut vodka, blackberry syrup, coconut water and a splash of lemon juice. A great refreshing summer drink! Outdoor seating was perfect at 7 pm. Had a golf outing for work not too far from downtown Plymouth. Never been for lunch/dinner and this place was suggested to us. I'm so glad it was! The angry chicken was by far one of the best spicy chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Crispy bread, all natural blackened chicken, pepper relish, habanero jack cheese, and fresh Bibb lettuce. I opted for the sweet potato fries and they were perfect. They have a nice cocktail menu with a nice variety of options. We stopped at the post during the covid pandemic after we had dinner, and it was pretty lively with a Dj standing indoors and spinning for outdoor guests. The establishment had plenty of heaters and we were able to tolerate the winter cold from 11pm-1am one night sitting at our table. The drinks were ok, it wasn't their main draw for us.
