We were told it was a pretty busy place, especially if you did not make reservations so we took that risk. It was a little busy around the bar but not too bad. We found a place to stand but what we noticed was that there were a lot of empty tables with reservation signs on them but nobody showed up to them during the duration of our time there (about an hour and a half). Stopped in here for cocktails before our dinner reservation at The Ledger! Easy to make rezzies via OpenTable. Cocktails are pretty premium here. While they are pretty good as far as cocktails go, they're not like Aviary in Chicago or Last Word/Peridot in Ann Arbor or Adelina in Detroit good IMHO. Also the latter (Adelina) serves similar fun tableside cocktails like the 'ice cream cone' one I got but ~$10 less. So between our 4 cocktails (2 per person), we spent ~$100. Eep. Had an amazing catch up with a friend over the best mocktails I've ever had! My friend introduced me to this swanky little bar after we grabbed dinner. It's a fun speakeasy vibe and they still had their holiday decor up when we went which was really fun. The staff were all kind. My friend and I got a mocktail each - wow! - they were fantastic! This place had a great crowd on saturday night. The DJ there was fantastic and the drinks were great. I wish the music wasn't so loud, I couldn't really have a conversation without shouting, it gave more of a club vibe rather than a speakeasy vibe. Our server was really sweet and attentive. It was one of my girlfriend's birthday and we had dinner and then decided to end the night at the Ebenezer. I heard about the Ebenezer for years but this was the first time that I had a chance to visit. The Ebenezer is a speakeasy with no password required. A little challenging to find until you find it. The light in the space is extremely dim. But the Vibe is uplifting and unexpected when you enter. There was a DJ on the night were there which was a Friday. They do have a food menu but we did not eat here. We only had a few drinks both cocktails and mocktails for our crew. The mocktail was very interesting and well composed. Music was a little loud. My husband and I made reservations specifically to try the new clarified rye drink, the Michigan Sour. Our reservations were at 9pm so well before the new change over of the late night drink menu. We came to the Ebenezer last week after the Ledger and learned about the new drink menu but since it was after 10pm, we couldn't order it. As a local we come here often, it wasn't a big deal to come back except our service was slow. By the time our server came she told us that the bartenders were overwhelmed and they were switching to the late night menu even though it wasn't 10pm. We tried to order the Michigan Sour and we were told no. We love supporting small business, but wow... what's going on here?! My cousin and I tried to go to the bar, but this place is definitely a popular destination, so I'd recommend getting there early or being prepared to wait if you want a seat! They also have plenty of tables that you can reserve. Near the bathrooms in the cabinet room, there are a couple of chairs/tables that are first-come, first-serve (they still have a waiter), and it's much quieter than the rest of the restaurant! This is where I ended up sitting, and it was great! As far as the drinks go, they are delicious and very unique! I ordered the Malbec, which was delicious and dry, and my cousin ordered the "Two Sizes Too Small", which was AMAZING (and I tend to shy away from cocktails because of how sweet they can be). We came to the Ebenezer last night, 4/18 at around 9:30-10pm. We had a group of 5 people all well over 21. The bouncer at the door checked all of our IDs and claimed my 24 year old boyfriend's ID was fake. It was his government issued ID. He held it under the black light and it was fine. He claimed because it did not have raised text it was fake. The bouncer claimed he knew what fake IDs looked like, clearly he had no clue. He refused to scan the ID and was getting into his face about his ID being fake. Absolutely ridiculous and a shame this guy must be letting underage patrons into the establishment as he doesn't know right from left. If I could give zero stars I would. Maybe start with training your door staff better to do an important job. read more

My wife and I have visited here several times always sitting at the bar and talking to the bartenders. Great atmosphere and drinks are always well made. My only criticism is that drinks can be pricey and most are very small. My last visit recently i was asked if I wanted a large cube for my old fashioned. First I recommend reservations.. and get there a little early because parking In downtown Plymouth is a little crazy. I used to really enjoy this restaurant in downtown Plymouth but my last few experiences have been really disappointing. I used to be a regular but the service, ambiance, and quality have all dropped off. Staff are inattentive and rude, drinks taste off, and the last charcuterie board our group got included bad product. I tried to give the restaurant another chance, and found out the dress code changed and wasn't "allowed" in. Make sure to check online and review the dress code if you go, and take off your coat before you enter because no hooded garments (including jackets!) are permitted. Navigation puts you on the front of the building it's in but it's actually in the basement and the door is in the back of the building! However! The waitress was super nice. The ambiance was cool. First and foremost, let me say I was Wow-ed by this spot. It's literally like stepping into a Time Machine-- like back in the 50s/60s. In a dope way! It truly is a nice vibe. The service upon our arrival was great, we were greeted warmly and given the choice of sitting at the bar or at a table. We chose the latter. The atmosphere was inviting. The chairs we sat in were super comfy and made me feel like I was kinda dining at someone's home. The food was superb. We got the Brussel Sprouts and the wings. The Brussel Sprouts dish was presented like a salad and it was super good and fresh. The wings were made to perfection. And the dranks.. whew!! They were delicious. I love a good craft cocktail. Now- this music. Baby, it was too loud for one. Then, at one point there was a rock music compilation. Which was not at all a fitting musical choice! For a setting like this, acceptable genres would be Lo-fi, electronica, ambient music (think Pure Moods CDs!), jazz, underground R&B. And it all needs to be at an overall lower volume. Certainly not loud rock music, blaring. We did mention the volume of the music as well as the selection to our waitress. But I'm not sure whoever was in control of the music got the memo. The best part of the Ebenezer is the atmosphere. It's an incredibly cool place that truly feels like you've stepped back in time into a 1920s speakeasy. You enter from an ally and are one level below the Main Street in town. It's dark inside and feels upscale. There are wonderful little nooks to grab a seat and relax. Second best thing is the quality of the cocktails. My old fashion was absolutely perfect. One of the best I've had. Our server was very nice also. It was a young 20s to early 30s crowd. I asked the doorman if there are nights with a slightly older crowd and he said Thursday-Saturday is the crowd we experienced but Tuesday and Wednesday tend to be more mid-40s and up. Now for the downside. The drinks are quite pricey. We each had 2 drinks (4 total) and it was over $70. I really liked The Ebenezer and will definitely go back. read more

I am really surprised this place has so many bad reviews! I loved it! That being said, we came on a Tuesday evening where there was just one other couple in the whole place, so it's possible it's a much different experience on a Friday night, but even still... There's a lot of fall-ish ones right now which I like. Think allspice drams...think cinnamon.... I ordered a Mr. Porter and LOVED it. My boyfriend got one that had a sparkler in it (I think it was called the Grand Sage?). So that's fuuuun. The food was great too. We got ceviche, ahi tuna crisps and truffle fries. I was kind of expecting a dinky little spoonful of ceviche, but I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portions of everything. If you park in the structure on Fleet st. the entrance is pretty clear - there's an awning and you just go straight down the hallway. Really the only downside for me is that it is really expensive, but for a special night out I think it's pretty on par with most other "speakeasy"ish places. We'll be back! read more

We have had this place on our list to visit for quite some time now. We both love the speakeasy vibe so we were intrigued. We had a special celebration so this seemed like the perfect day to check it out. The Ebenezer really lived up to our expectations! We were seated in a romantic corner. The lighting is very intimate and warm. There is something to see on every wall. Our waitress was very accommodating and prompt. She helped us pick out our first drinks. I ordered the filet which literally melted in my mouth. We usually share but I was greedy. No sharing! We got dessert drinks and a lava cake.
