I'll be short and sweet: great tasting food at hotel prices. So, a little pricey but so darn convenient, and staff is terrific too.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Dewitt - The breakfast place where I ate my delicious food

I stayed here recently for 4 nights and it's really a crapshoot on whether you'll be able to sleep…read moreor not, depending on your neighbors. The walls are paper-thin (I could hear clear conversations from my neighboring guests through either wall) and sound carries easily through the building. The doors all auto-slam to close, and there is music piped in through the hallways which seeps into the rooms. I had a white noise machine with me and it didn't mitigate the fact that the noise was really disruptive and loud. The staff, however, is pretty great, and the breakfast is a good spread of various foods, from sausages to eggs to toast/pancakes and oatmeal. The location is fine (felt very safe) but the building is basically standalone on a piece of property, so you can't walk to anywhere interesting, even though there are shops and restaurants not even a mile away. If you'd prefer to wander or are only relying on Uber/Lyft to get around, perhaps stay somewhere else.

I stayed at this grand old building for 1 magnificent night. When I entered the hotel, I was…read moregreeted with the oh so kind desk employees. They were angels! The kind woman gave me my key card and she told me what the hotel came with like the gym and pool. I was pleased to hear about their breakfast. I'm such a foodie! After the desk operator was done talking, I went up the elevators to my room and the room was glorious! It had 2 beds, a couch and a COFFEE MAKER! I was soooo glad! A little old lady like me needs her caffeine, am I right or am I right! As I walked through, a very polite smell hit me. I couldn't place it but it was somewhat like a morning spring daffodil which smells quite delightful. I was greatly surprised to have such an omnipotent view of Syracuse through my window too! The bathroom was its own isolated room, thank god. They had body lotion, some soap, and mouthwash which I was also surprised with. This hotel had many great surprises! The shower head had some thrust to it too! The pressure felt superior against my back. I went to bed that night with cozy pillows and my husband by my side. We agreed that the mattress was fortunately very soft and gentle. I got up that morning feeling like a stress free baby. Hey that rhymes! I went down stairs to check out the breakfast and hooooo weeeee! It smelled like a blueberry exploded! The smell even had me doing a little jig! I trotted over and the smell got even better! I was happy to be loading up my plate. I got spicey potatoes, cheesy eggs, a moist chocolate chip muffin, and I even got to make my own pancakes! I was in paradise. After breakfast I went to the gym and did a nice workout to burn off the food I ate. Shortlh after, I went to the pool and did some water aerobics. The water was the perfect temperature and I had a gay old time. I took another shower with the exquisite shower head. I wrapped up my stay and packed my bags. I dropped my keycard off to the desk employee and said my goodbyes. Overall I had an amazing stay with the Holiday Inn. This place is all sorts of friendly. I 98.73% do RECOMMEND!!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at this grand old hotel smack dab in the middle of Syracuse…read more Because of it's location they do not offer parking, but there are many lots all around the area. We found one that only charged us ten bucks for the night. We were in town for a concert at the Landmark, which is literally across the street. After the concert ended, we were back in our hotel room in about five minutes. There are also tons of great bars and restaurants all within a few blocks. Our room was clean and spacious enough for two people, and the bathroom was roomy and clean.

Gorgeous, restored, modern, wonderful!…read more We had the best experience at this hotel. We got a king suite with a separate kitchen and sitting area, as we were not leaving our room much due to surgery. The room was spotless, the bed was so comfortable and there were a lot of pillows. You could have parked a Buick in the bathroom! We ended up being done with our medical appointments two day early. They were unable To refund our room (which they were not obligated to do anyway) but willingly gave us one free nights stay voucher. How wonderful is that! So accommodating and nice. The two staff ladies at the desk were so kind to us. This hotel has a "wall of fame" where you can see a few of the stars who have stayed there. It's in the heart of a city circle area where there are some shops and restaurants to walk to. Again, we were only able to leave for a bit (for our sanity) but it's location was perfect for a walk. We will definitely be back!

The place is like new or maybe it was just built recently. Furnishing was great customer service…read morewas great. Price was kinda on the high side but that's how it is.. there isn't any airport shuttle and there are no restaurants near except you can walk over to RUBY TUESDAY and hope you don't get run over on the side street. Not a highway to walk across. Not near the CENTRO line. From airport to here, take the downtown 184 to the 123 cross town and then walk 2 miles and it will cost u 2 bucks. Else uber Lyft yourself for $35

During our recent road trip, our family stayed at two different Fairfield Inn & Suite locations and…read morenoted a significant difference in the satisfaction of our stays. For comparison reasons, the other location we were at was the one in Ithaca - but this Syracuse location is our preferred location. Upon entry, you have a "Corner Cafe" for some snacks to purchase, the front desk, and then the breakfast area alongside coffee available all day. The breakfast seating area is about the same size in both hotels but I found the Syracuse location to be more comfortable as it was less cramped and less busy during breakfast hours. On the note of breakfast, the breakfast at the Syracuse location was significantly better. To compare, Syracuse had the following advantages: - Their mini fridge was available at all hours of the day, filled with individual packages of Chobani yogurt, Silk soy products (original and chocolate), milk (whole, 2%, and low fat chocolate), as well as some fruit cups and apple sauce. Versus the Ithaca location which has their fridge turned after breakfast so people couldn't access it, they had less variety and less stock. - Syracuse offers two waffle machines (with timers which were helpful), with a runnier yet fluffier waffle batter. At the Ithaca location, there was a constant line of 2-4 people waiting for the single machine and without the timer, people were often confused about when their waffles would be ready. - Overall, there are more items available at the Syracuse location: hard boiled eggs, Nutella packets, low fat cream cheese, single packets of Delight creamers, bananas, to name a few. - Despite breakfast hours being 6:30-9:30 am, the Syracuse location extends their breakfast for a bit after, keeping their stock, and leaves out stable items (i.e. the mini fridge) out for people to grab n' go versus the Ithaca location which stops stocking items in the last hour hence if you go for breakfast closer to 9 am, there's not much for you to eat. - the Ithaca location was also less organized with their breakfast. People were excited to get some cheese with their eggs, but got disappointed when they opened the container to find a compote of sorts.

This hotel has had some major renovation work done recently in some areas. For example, the lobby…read moreand breakfast area are new and very nicely done. The area where the ice machine, vending and an atm are located and the ground floor corridor are not. The corridor on our floor was updated. The elevator scared the beejesus out of me! Every time it started it 'dropped' before moving in a controlled way. Every. Time. New fear unlocked. Check. We were checked in quickly and easily, were directed to the elevator and told breakfast hours. We unloaded the vehicle and washed up a bit before heading to dinner at which point we found the sink would not drain. On our way out we asked if a plunger was available to us. I am aware most hotels only have one staff member on duty in the evenings and did not expect 'maintenance' to fix the clog. Reception had a plunger for us when we returned from dinner. (We did get the clog cleared but that was pretty gross.) The room has been newly painted with a new vanity, sink and mirror. The wall behind the mirror is tiled where the old, larger one was and a space next to the vanity, where a bigger counter top was, has been boxed in and I used as a shelf for personal care items. Bar soap on vanity and in shower, and single use personal care items on counter top. No hooks for toiletry bags. The bathroom was clean, has been updated with a new tub and surround, plenty of hot water, good pressure, no drain issue in the tub. The walls have been newly papered and a new towel shelf is over a newer toilet. Two of each towel type and a floor mat. Our room was small, with a King bed, a chair (which I do appreciate in a hotel room) that was older, worn and smelled of stale wine, a floor lamp behind the chair, closet, desk, TV, mini-fridge and coffee service. There is no designated luggage rack area or a portable one in the closet, where you will find an iron and board. Two bedside tables have lamps a plug and a USB. Wi-fi was free. The bed was comfortable with a variety of pillows, soft sheets and nice weight duvet. The heater looks like a replacement unit and kept the room cool during our summer visit. Breakfast included juice, cold cereal, instant oatmeal, waffles, two hot items (I didn't open the chafing dishes to look) fruit, yogurt, milk for cereal, bagels and bread. A microwave and add-ins like S&P and jelly are on an island in the middle of the breakfast buffet area. Staff did their jobs minimally. Not friendly, not rude, just unmotivated, uninterested. It was small things like our interactions and attention to details in the room and at breakfast. Breakfast staff seem to be reception staff so they are trying to juggle keeping the coffee pot full during a busy front desk/check-out time. I can understand their frustration. It seems like corners are being trimmed to pay for much needed updates to the property. Not sure if it has to do with the location, some event happening in the area or something else but this was the most expensive room on our trip and the smallest. Add in the lackluster customer service and attention to details and our stay did not feel like a good value.

Clean and comfortable. Dog friendly. It would have been nice to come in through a side entrance…read morewith the dog rather than going through the lobby every time but that's a minor quibble. A few burnt out lightbulbs, we told the front desk and they noted it and seemed to plan to get right on it. Nice breakfast selections. "Clean and comfortable" might not seem like a strong reference but compared to other places that cost as much and were much lower quality ......
