Great view and service, however the sushi quality was absolutely terrible. Very similar to grocery store sushi. It was disappointing.

Preface: This is our first time in Europe, first time in Copenhagen, and this was the first restaurant we tried here. We are from Chicago. First off, you need to have a reservation to eat here. We did not, (party of 4) so we waited a little time for a table. Being on vacation with nothing else going on, we did not mind sitting outside for 90 minutes and having drinks on this beautifully warm July evening. The cocktails and beers were all very good as was the food. Everything was excellent, in fact, including the service which may have been a little slow but again, I think that's just because we are used to the way things are in Chicago and wouldn't be considered slow for the rest of the world. We sat outside for drinks and then inside for our meal. Both seatings were very nice. The bill seemed a little pricey but I think that's typical of Europe in general. Everyone spoke English very well and the menu was easy to understand. Considering the quality of food, drinks, and service we received, it was worth the price. We would definitely go back as this was a short walk from our Airbnb apartment to which we will be returning in 10 days. Great food & drinks! read more

This is a very modern and minimalist branch of Sticks n Sushi! My friend and I have been to the one on Nørrebro many times and on her last visit I decided to mix it up a bit and book this branch in Amager as the other branch is always too busy. It was quite easy to get to it by the Metro and as with many of the Danish restaurants, you can book online! We were impressed! This branch is more spacious, more good looking and we love the large open kitchen! The sushi was delicious as always and it was very easy to choose what we wanted from the picture menu booklet! We got some scallops wrapped in bacon, fried cauliflower, hamachi nigiri, rainbow roll, gypsy roll (recommend this!), tuna tartar, beef tataki and a trio of desserts to share. My friend is has an allergy to wheat so our server and the kitchen really took care that any components that contained flour was served separately or removed. She also got a separate pot of gluten-free soy sauce too! The food itself was delicious, as always. We would highly recommend the hamachi nigiri, the cauliflower and the gypsy roll! It is quite pricey, but you do get what you pay for and this particular branch is so beautiful that I would definitely be coming here again when I fancy some really posh sushi! read more

Let's be honest, I get all excited every time I hear new food place opening in Amager, including Sticks n' Sushi. I usually don't go to this chain for sushi but since this place is within walking distance from my apartment, I feel like I need to try. Location: Right there facing the water by Amager Strand, five minute from Øresund st. Clean style, with open kitchen, with nice bright room and with outdoor seating Food: We ordered Mini Maki Maki (half of the Maki maki menu) with Sashimi shake tataki. Food came pretty fast and they were super tasty. I guess I have to frequent Sticks n Sushi from now on. Everything was delicious and the salmon sashimi was really good. I'm usually not into maki rolls with tempura ebi but these tempura ebi tasted very good with the right level of crunchiness. Yum! The other two maki rolls topped with salmon had cucumber in the middle and I ate it without protest (for you who don't know, I'm not exactly BFF with cucumber). Service: Flawless. The staff (waitresses) were young but they were very service-minded and taught to put customers above everything. Our waitress was very patient when we couldn't decide at first what we were going to have and even when we just decided to move inside from our outdoor seating (because it was too windy) and she checked if the food was okay, she offered a water refill for me (I didn't order drink and was pleasantly surprised that she brought a glass of water for me). The only thing that is probably negative about Sticks n Sushi that it's quite pricey, but then all good sushi places in Copenhagen are pricey. Considering that the sushi were very good and the sashimi were excellent, I guess price corresponds with quality. I could always count on getting sushi from this place from now on, I suppose, yet I'm still looking forward to my next trip to Japan where we could get good sushi with cheaper price :) read more

We had a delightful dinner here. As others have noted, this is a very popular place with excellent food and attentive service. Make a reservation. We sampled many of the fish and "sticks" offerings and felt everyone of them was delicious. Brown ale beer from Møns was a special treat. One dish that was noteworthy and a pleasant surprise was the cauliflower with a delightful sauce. Also try the crispy Ebi. Highly recommended. read more

Good spot for Sushi and different kind of meat sticks. Fantastic starters. We had brokkoli, cauliflower, edame, salmon and tuna tatar. A bit of a preface, we basically had omakase so that may have affected just how good things were... Food: Copenhagen continues to deserve the recognition of having some of the best food in the world. The quality of the fish was incredible. Atmosphere: I really loved the feel of the place. The pictures represent it well, so I won't dwell on it Service: They seemed surprised an American had found this place, though to be fair it isn't anywhere near downtown. They had surprisingly good English and conveniently there was a waitress happy about the opportunity to practice it. Really great experience. Sticks'n'Sushi is my absolute favorite sushi place. My happiness for it increased when I heard that they were gonna build one 500m from my home at Amager Strand. The food was absolutely amazing, the waiters were nice - as always & the restaurant is beautifully and creatively designed. The only thing that made me give one star less, is because my sister and I waited for 25 minutes, to get our drinks the second time. We could understand and respect that the restaurant was only 1 week old, so it was understandable. But it was a little bit disappointing when they also forgot that my father ordered a beer more. But that doesn't stop me from coming to their restaurants because this tiny disappointment only happened once and it was, as I said, understandable! :-) Even in London's Sticks restaurant, the food and service was amazing! Service was amazing. They offered a hot towel for my hands before I began. The decour and ambience was mellow and hip. The speed of which the food came was tardy. Food was delicious. Not a quiet place, energry is great tho. Bathrooms were clean and nice and had lotion! Wait staff all friendly with smiles loved it. read more

I had been staying in Scandinavia for weeks with my kids and extended family when my husband had a chance to visit us in Copenhagen. We walked from the train station--it's about a 15 minute walk to this sterile, unappealing, high-rise hotel that is really off the beaten track. The restaurant is in the penthouse. Here's the thing: DO NOT just show up at this place. You will die of hunger waiting for a table without a reservation. Then again, I'm not even sure they take reservations. We were there on a Thursday evening and the place was jammed and we waited over an because you're just stuck because there's nothing else around because--did I say it's off the beaten track? The view from the hotel roof is breathtaking--take many, many photos and sit outside by the fireplace--it's great! Now the food. I speak some Swedish and understand some Danish but cannot speak it. That said, everyone in under 40 in Denmark speaks English because it is taught in school. Except for our waiter. He spoke almost zero English. It was fine though because he was as cute as a button and very nice. Other waiters translated for him. Now, in Scandinavia, they DO NOT SERVE EEL. At any Japanese​ restaurant​. That's right, sports fans: no unagi anywhere. Hrmmmph. I was annoyed by this from Stockholm to Malmö, from Helsingør to Aalborg: no unagi. And virtually no Japanese people at any sushi restaurant. 'Save the eels' or some such well-intentioned​ claptrap has caused this. If that is not is not a deal breaker for you, carry on. But here's the thing. In this restaurant, and elsewhere in Scandinavia, they inexplicably put MAYO SAUCE on the maki sushi. To my palate, this is just disturbing and sickening. But the nigiri sushi is delightful, with big luscious slabs of glistening salmon, but for some reason no yellow tail (or maybe they call it something else there). Also delish is any sashimi dish--although, TBH, I wouldn't eat any tuna or mackerel from the North Sea frankly with all the Norwegian oil refineries churning away off shore, but that's just me. If you have youngish kids, you have them eat maki because it's usually cooked--but let me tell you, spoiled, hipsterish kids like mine will make faces and become very dramatically ill if you put any kind of mayo sauce on their sushi. And they seem to make it that way all over Scandinavia. JFC. The ambiance is very enjoyable--the decor is black and sleek and minimalist-art-fanboi and I love the very cool t-shirts on the waiters. They should sell them. The shirts, not the waiters. 6.75/10 because of the mayo sauce. read more
