The Sushi Lovers Roll and the Spicy Green Dragon Roll
    Jacqueline T.

We loved the sushi here! We got the Spicy Green Dragon Roll and the Sushi Lovers Roll. Both were delicious and very fresh -- the flavors worked really well together. The market it's in is really awesome. There's something for everyone and the open atmosphere is a lot of fun. Definitely a good place to check out!

Wow. I will forever remember my trip to Sushi Lovers because of the experience I had here. I started ordering out a sushi lover small - great sushi, prepared well, perfect afternoon snack. I also loved the ambience in torvehallerne. Great light coming in, very intimate and cozy. Then the exec chef from Studio sits down and begins talking to the chef behind the counter. They are sharing amazing stories and I am a foodie/chef geek so I love hearing the conversation. The chef ends up talking about a new preparation he's worked on for lobster - freshly killed and served immediately - and then begins to prepare it for him. I am just in AWE!!!! So of course I HAVE to ask how I can get one of those, too!!! I ask, he gives me the price, and my friend and I without a doubt ordered it. It was amazing. A danish blue lobster (seemed to be like the free-range version of lobster - they are more active so the meat has a firmer texture). We got to watch him (warning: graphic!) rip the head-off and then proceed to detach the tail meat with a spoon while the lobster was still twitching. it doesn't get fresher than that!! He cut up the meat and served in in the tail shell, prepared a special ponzu/plum wine sauce and added fresh micro greens. I was in heaven!! The chef then also offered to make a fresh miso soup with the rest of the lobster shell/head and serve us the claw meat sashimi style! LOVED IT! The claws were ginormous and the soup was delicious. Fresh lobster sashimi in a special preparation not on the menu, head to tail eating. A. MAZING.

Remember Shania Twain's song "That doesn't impress me much". It could be the soundtrack of this review. Short and concise. Sushi is rather boring, but not in any way bad, just lacking soul and taste. I guess it's rather odd considering they could get their fresh fish from next door (stall), but maybe it's the sushi making skill that needs to be improved. Whatever mystery ingredient that is usually there at good sushi places, it's simply lacking here, although I couldn't exactly pinpoint it out. Maybe my tastebuds are spoiled having been taken to taste finer things in life than this place, but like I said, it's nothing bad. If you're absolutely craving for sushi after looking at all those raw fish next door, you could always eat here, after all, what's Torvehallerne without a sushi place? but if you want to do yourself a favour, go somewhere else...

Visited here twice. I had sushilover roll and two salmon nigiri, tasting plater and red dragon roll for the second time. I'll say it is average i guess? it is not like they are nasty, they are neat and eatable, yet they weren't special enough to be a five star. First of all, normally, if it's seared salmon/ tuna, when you taste it, they should be hot. However, it does not taste hot at all. Yet I've seen this problem in most places in Copenhagen, so I guess that is normal? Red hot dragon roll, being their top seller as they claimed, I think the chili part was kind of too overwhelmed. I could barely taste the fish part. Sushilover roll, I think this is good, but it would be better if the seared fish on top is hot, and it would be even better if they have more mayo. They can improve. Salmon nigiri, I think they are probably the best around here? Tasting plater, this is a plate of four special nigiri. I thought this one was pretty cool. Like they made combinations of nigiri as I have never seen them before...by far, I think they are the best product of this place, yet they are a bit expensive. You can taste a mouth of oil when you had their seared salmon.. LOVE IT! this is the kind of seared salmon nigiri I want, expect the fact that it isn't warm... I would agree this is probably the better sushi bar I've visited in Copenhagen. but for its price, I think the quality can do better, they still have a way to improve. Looking for more places to beat this place up.

A go-to spot in downtown Copenhagen if you want exquisite, delicious sushi! Taste was spot on, service was world class, everything just clicked. For this review I had: Sushilovers roll Scallop Delight nigiri Pankko Breaded Scallop nigiri Kirin Ichiban Beer The sushilovers roll was the most expensive roll on the menu, demanding 135 (20 $) for 10 pieces. However, it contained everything I needed to taste on the menu, in the short time I had. Crispy shrimp & avocado topped with flame-grilled tuna, salmon and avocado seasoned pyntet with chilimayo, teriyaki sauce ands spring onions. Delicious and worth it! I had the Scallop Delight as a bonus piece because the Chef made my sushilovers roll too short (only 8 pieces instead of 10). I got the Scallop Delight and the pankko breaded scallop as substitute for the 2 pieces of sushilovers roll that was lacking. I had the nigiri freshly prepared and presented by the chef. The scenario reminded med of the movie "Jiro Dreams of Sushi". Very High Class and execution.Great way to make up for the error. The service and treatment was excellent!

This place serves amazingly tasty and fresh sushi! They serve different and amazing flavor combinations. Food: 5/5 Some of the best sushi I've ever had. They are inventive in the ingredients they put together and are super yummy. The fish is fresh and the all the ingredients mesh perfectly in your mouth for an explosion of flavor. Service: 3/5 The space is pretty small and they are extremely popular. Which means that there is a long wait to order and a potential for things to go wrong. They actually lost one of the rolls we ordered and after waiting for 30 mins, I asked about it and they were completely in shock over it. I had to ask if I could get another one and how long it would take. (I guess they don't ever lose orders?) Atmosphere: 5/5 It is located in Torvehallerne which has a very foody vibe. Everywhere you are surrounded by delicious food and people enjoying it. Apparently, you can make reservations via phone call. I recommend this if you plan to eat here after 6pm. Alternatively, you can do take-away. Value: 4/5 We had the Gourmet Lovers for 2 menu for around 400 kr and had to order another roll to feel full. But that is sort of typical for sushi... This is quality sushi at a reasonable price.

Is the place that changed my opinion about sushi. I had tried before several times, and I was never impressed. We were a group of five, so I tasted 6 different inside-outs. My advice is to go for the special rolls. For me the "Red Hot Dragon" was beyond this world. We sat on the bar, right in front of ths chefs and the service was super fast (time helped, when we left the place was packed).

    So good! Sushilovers Roll

This place is truly a wonderful Sushi find. As an avid sushi eater, I had to try the only sushi restaurant in Copenhagen's most famous market, Torvehallerne. I found the fish extremely fresh, and overall the roll I got (Sushilovers roll) was extremely good. I was able to ask the waitress, who was extremely nice to me, what type of rolls were best for what kind of a thing I wanted. Her suggestion was great. I'm very happy with my meal.

The pickled wasabi is out of this world. The chef traveled to Japan to seek out the most unique rolls and flavors. Check it out.

Tie between Sushi Lovers and Sticks N' Sushi for me in terms of the best sushi in CPH. I love going here for lunch, my favorites are the dragon rolls. The guys who make the sushi are super friendly and helpful when catering orders to specific requests. Sometimes there is a long wait, but overall love this, located in the glass market.

    San Francisco Roll to go
    Sabrina P.

I wanted something with salmon and I love roe so I got the San Francisco roll. Although it was quite good, I left feeling mildly disappointed. The roll was nearly $13 USD and left me feeling hungry. In the states, if I were ordering that much for that roll, I would expect it to either be some of the best salmon I've ever had or simply cost less. But dining out in Copenhagen--especially at Torvehallerne-- and back home may be like comparing apples to oranges. With regards to the menu, I was slightly disappointed to see a lack of creativity. Most rolls looked like rolls one would be able to find at nearly any Japanese place. Furthermore, I didn't see anything on the menu with Unagi. Next time, I may just go for another place where the dollar can stretch a little farther because this stand simply doesn't seem worth the splurge.

    Sushi - lovely
    Morten O.

Sushi Lovers is a amongst the better sushi joints in Copenhagen. They do traditional sushi but also more creative menus - try out their Gourmet menus, they are fantastic and my favourites! They are also serving Cava by the glass - a perfect supplement for the sushi. Be aware that Sushi Lovers is located in Torvehallerne so its more a Sushi bar than a Sushi restaurant and difficult for larger groups.

Although I have been walking along Vesterbrogade for so many times, somehow this place is invisible to me, only after Linnea R arranged an event to dine here that I discovered this place. I wasn't hungry enough to order the teppanyaki menu so I decided to get the sushi and sashimi menu instead and split a bowl of soba with raw egg with Mina K while the rest of us ordered teppannyaki. Oh well, how sorry I was for not choosing it. The seafood one looked absolutely divine especially when the chef was cooking them in front of us (we were seated by the teppan table). Although the price seemed a bit steep for the menu (420 dkk), you got tons of food for it as I have witnessed from my dining company's meal. You get the starter sushi / sashimi, you get the seafood teppannyaki with rice and miso soup and believe me, there were plenty of food to go around. One thing that pulls one star down from the perfect five was the SLOWNESS of the service. It took forever to get our food (well, the teppanyaki menu was a show of itself) but the sushi took a long time to appear, apparently. Even when we wanted to leave and wanted to get our bill, it took forever as well. This time it was alright because we had great dining company so we didn't mind waiting but we spent what it was like four hours in the restaurant. Sorry, I'd like my food to be faster please. Hungry! *points to stomach*

However I was pleasantly surprised and now I know where to get my Korean fix in Copenhagen when I'm feeling homesick. Since it was a very cold day, I wanted something hot and comforting. The Samgyetang menu (310 dkk) appealed to me especially since it comes with small sides (banchan). Normally this soup is eaten in the summer, but I think it also goes over well on these winter evenings. Our server brought out a whole cornish hen sizzling in the stone pot on a wooden trivet with salt and pepper on the side. Spot-on presentation! However there was no ginger or glutinous rice inside the chicken, much less jujube or ginseng. Although chicken is the star of this dish, the rice and herbs play a huge role. This was very disappointing, even though the meat was cooked perfectly and falling off the bone. Before we were served the main (Korean) dishes, we received a little Japanese appetizers. One was a spinach salad (ohitashi) and a shrimp salad with bean thread (ebi sunomono). These were very nice and refreshing but of course I would have preferred a Korean starter. Soon after came gyoza/mandu, which was good. Right before the mains came out we got the banchan, and so prettily arranged! There was seafood pancake (haemul pajeon), carrot kinpira, kimchi, potato pancake (gamjajeon), and seaweed salad. The kinpira was a bit out of place, I think beansprouts would have fit in better. Though they were a little oily, the pancakes were good. Now the kimchi was excellent! I can say this with confidence since I am Korean, I've been brought up eating kimchi, and I do make my own. You can even buy it by the kilo here. Good to know. At the end of the meal we got a scoop of sickly-sweet strawberry ice cream and a pretty but not very tasty strawberry for dessert. I would have preferred green tea ice cream or even some seasonal fruit, the latter being more common in Korean cuisine. Since it is winter I would have been ok with no dessert and just a cup of ginseng tea instead. Although the missing ingredients in the samgyetang made me feel cheated, the banchan was mostly good and so was the service. I look forward to trying more authentic Korean dishes here.

I wouldn't think this should be a problem to take your leftover food that you paid for with you, and open up a seat for someone in queue waiting to come in to get a meal. She said she had to ask the chef if I can take a container, and then she asked the chef right in front of me. He looked right at me blankly, and told her no after looking at me. I have to say that was not very nice service. To look right at my face and decide that I'm not to bring my leftovers with me., and just waste all of it. While I can see a stack of leftover containers in the kitchen right from my seat. That was just a shame because more than half of my food was left over. I have a small stomach and I can't eat all this one sitting! Wish I could! I thought I would just eat the rest of it later in the evening. But the chef said no container for you. I tried to eat a little more of it but had to leave a lot of it behind. How wasteful! That really bummed me out when he said no, as I tried to force a few more bites. I wanted to thank him for the meal because it was so delicious, but I was so irritated at that point every time I look at him. To me that was a big strike even if your food is good. I don't think I would go back there again. The waitress was friendly though. I do understand why you don't allow takeout since the art of the bowl would be compromised while walking or biking, I do think when someone has more than half of their food left over you could be gracious to give them a container to put it in. So that was really wasteful and I don't think I would come back here again but if you're very hungry and you can eat a lot of food get there early so you can get a seat otherwise it's a 40 minute wait outside in line on the street, and a very small location with no bathroom. The food was very good. The chef's rude temperment and the leftover container policy needs work.
