Dinner here was quite nice, really intimate atmosphere and love the concept. The meal wasn't the most filling but was light and pleasant. The chicken teriyaki was super soft and the teriyaki flavor so powerful, though there seemed like a lot more breading than meat which was not my favorite.

Bento is a little hole in the wall Japanese restaurant with excellent service. I ordered the Tonkatsu and it was perfectly crispy. The owner is literally the sweetest lady and she is so passionate about explaining each portion of the bento and how to eat it. Make sure you make a reservation as the restaurant is pretty small. We were able to snag 2 spots at the bar without a reservation but all the other walk ins after us were turned away.

The service was short of Average...no water brought to the table until two requests. Appetizers came after main course. Utensils came after meals served. The apparent owner brought their infant to the restaurants and, the only thing worse than piped in crooning ensued, real-life crying. Terrible. They should have served a side order of Tylenol. The fried Pork was good, better than average, the dipping sauce however was a subtraction. The miso soup was not tasty...a little too pungent and overly aromatic. The side of fruit rather small but fresh.

Great quality food and fresh sushi. But you'll pay dearly for Japanese food in Copenhagen. True to Danish design, the ambiance is minimalistic with thoughtful pieces and clean lines. I love the large solid wood tables. We scanned the menu and everything looks authentic. 298 DKK for a pork katsudon bento and 398 DKK for a grilled eel bento. That translates to $54 and $79 bento box respectively. The MOST I've ever paid for a bento box! :0 Service was attentive and warm. I found it endearing that this is a family run operation and they even have their 70 year old grandma serving tea. Dōmo arigatōgozaimashita!

Great Japanese food and hospitality in a home away from home, in Copenhagen. Really good presentation and taste. The bento boxes were well decorated and great starter dishes including tea and green beans. I thought my son's spoon was lost so went back to ask. The hosts were very patient to look for it. I eventually found the spoon! Yippee. Great food. Will come back next time in Copenhagen.

You know when you get a plate of really good food, and there's this struggle to not wolf down everything so that you can enjoy each bite and delay the inevitable sad moment when you know you'll be left with an empty plate? That's how Bento makes me feel. I'm both extremely happy when the food arrives, and immediately sad that it will soon be all gone. It's messed up. Bento certainly lives up to its many stars. The decor is interesting, but not overwhelming. The service is warm, but not intrusive. The price is reasonable for the quality of food, and especially considering CPH prices. We got the sashimi meal for 350 kr. Beers are around 40-60 kr. And most importantly, the food is wonderful. Bento has beautiful presentation, their sashimi meal is easy on the eyes and the tastebuds. The sashimi selection included scallops, tuna, salmon, octopus, mackerel, yellowtail, and shrimp. The set also includes miso soup, rice, fruit, wakame salad (quite a lot of wakame really), and pickles. I'm not sure if the fish selection changes throughout the year, although I assume it does somewhat. The only slight disappointment was the size of their tuna sashimi, which is only about half of the salmon and whitefish slices. This wouldn't be a issue, except the chef purposely placed the fish in a way where your eye is fooled into thinking the tuna is just as big as the salmon and whitefish...except when you get down to it, it's not. Before the meal, you get a hot towel, tea, and edamame. Really nice extra perks. They take Dankort. But if you pay cash, its 10% off.

One and half month after returning home from a short vacation in Japan, I still find myself thinking about those gorgeous and super delicious food I had there. What a girl gotta do then? Go to Bento for a fix! Bento is one of the most authentic Japanese restaurants in Copenhagen. If you're craving for Japanese food done in the "right way", you go to this family-owned restaurant. They have two sets of menu, the lunch and the dinner menu. The lunch is more varied with noodle soups and other stuff on the menu and the price is also cheaper than the dinner, while dinner is special. I have been to both lunch and dinner service and they're both excellent in terms of service. Don't expect the usual indifferent service you'll find in most Danish cafes and restaurants, here - you'll get service the Japanese way and that means a good thing. The last time I was here to celebrate a friend's birthday, I got the tonkatsu set dinner and a tuna sashimi set that were very very good although my eyes kept wandering to my friend's dinner consisted of delicate sashimi neatly arranged in a serving "boat". Next time, I told myself and yes - there will always be a next time. Downside? It's pricey, but it's well worth it.

Solid Japanese food in Copenhagen. As previously mentioned it is a family owned business and super cute to watch grandma serving tea. Food: 4/5 Due to the fact I was sick, I did not have any sushi but we had bento boxes instead: grilled eel and teriyaki salmon. It was presented beautifully in an actual bento box. It had grilled/pickled vegetables, salad, a hard boiled egg, and rice. The sweet potato is the best I have ever tasted! The eel was delicious and perfectly cooked, so was the salmon. Good eel is soft and melts in your mouth, and the accompanying sauce should not be too sweet. This grilled eel hit all the marks. Service: 4/5 The menu has English and they speak some English. After being seated, we were presented with hot towels to wipe our hands. We were also given green tea and edamame to snack on while we waited for our food. Food here isn't rushed and should be slowly enjoyed. Atmosphere: 5/5 This place was recently renovated and the decor is very rustic chic. The restaurant is designed for you to lounge (so lounge away!) Value: 3/5 The portions are large and very filling, though on the more expensive side. Each bento was around 200-300 kr. It is definitely a place to splurge on your food.

Great food and good service (they actually check in with you from time to time). Price is a bit high, but no more so than the rest of Copenhagen. I had the dinner set with the chicken gyoza and it was delicious. The dinner set more than filled me and the fruit that came with it was fresh and juicy.

Bento is SUPER authentic and our waiter, on the older side, was a riot. The service here is above average , related to Danish standards. The environment is cozy, the home made ginger beer was fun and the Mixed Sashimi plate was awesome. Each piece of fish just melted in your mouth and rice and miso soup were included, all for 350 DKK. You also get a small green teas and free edamame right when you sit down. The place is clean and quaint and I would go back in a heart beat. I also like it way more than Issa just up the road. The only reason this place is 4 stars and not 5 for me is that I really wanted the Mochi and red bean paste desert and they didn't have it.

10 years ago I lived in Vesterbro. Here I was lucky enough to stumble over a restaurant on Sønder Boulevard run by a Japanese mother and his son. It was here that I tasted an egg omelet that left me dumbstruck with admiration - and it was this egg omelet, which later set the standard for all other egg omelets that I came to taste. Unfortunately, I moved away from Vesterbro for a while and when I came back, the sushi joint was gone. Alas! Vesterbro was robbed of a gem, and I was robbed of one of my favourite hang outs. ... until one of my friends - who is also a formidable cook - told the juiciest stories about a small Japanese place on Helgolandsgade serving the most beautiful egg omelets. Did you say egg omelet? At the first opportunity that presented itself, I grabbed my partner and went to visit Bento. And what did I see? A Japanese mother and his son running a restaurant together. The SAME mother and son! I could have jumped up and down of sheer pleasure! Instead I ordered large amounts of sushi with greater amounts of egg omelette. And miso soup. And green tea. And yum! Till this day Bento remains the best sushi restaurant I have ever visited. And the egg omelet? Better than I remembered it.

I love this authentic little Japanese! The restaurant is deceptively big but cosy at the same time. There's a bit of Japanese decoration around and has a nice family restaurant feel. The service was impeccable! As we sat down, we were asked what we'd like to drink and we ordered green tea and a Kirin. Then after we ordered, we were given a hot flannel to clean our hands and a small portion of edamame beans each to start while we waited for our food! They serve Bento boxes at 250 DKK each. We ordered a Pork Karage (deep fried pork) and a Udon with Tempura Vegetables and Prawn. They both came with a miso soup, pickles and fresh fruit. The pork came with a side salad, some tasty karage sauce and a portion of rice. They had ran out of udon when I ordered the noodles but were substituted with soba (buck wheat) noodles - even better! - with tempura aubergines, broccoli, runner beans, lotus roots and purple sweet potato pieces. There was also some pepper. On the side were three freshly deep fried prawn tempuras. Mmm! I could so eat that again! I would highly recommend this place if you want to have bento boxes. There wasn't much of a sushi menu that I could see but there are some previous reviews that mention sushi so maybe I just missed it. It doesn't matter though because I will be coming again!

Mmm. I've been craving some legit Japanese food for awhile so when I went to Copenhagen, I decided to check this place out. It's located a few minutes away from the central train station, so very convenient. I went for lunch and the lunch menu is sparse, but cheap--there are three items: I can't remember the other two items but one was the onigri and the other was some kind of katsu curry I think? I got the nabeyaki udon (85 DKK) and it was delicious and quite filling. It comes with chicken karaage, imitation crab, spinach, and half an egg, and a very delicious full bowl of udon noodles. I was extremely satisfied. The waiter is also super nice and they give you free tea! I'm such a fan tldr; cute place for some cheap, high-quality lunch!

Eel dinner. Very good. Large portion too.

Although I have been walking along Vesterbrogade for so many times, somehow this place is invisible to me, only after Linnea R arranged an event to dine here that I discovered this place. I wasn't hungry enough to order the teppanyaki menu so I decided to get the sushi and sashimi menu instead and split a bowl of soba with raw egg with Mina K while the rest of us ordered teppannyaki. Oh well, how sorry I was for not choosing it. The seafood one looked absolutely divine especially when the chef was cooking them in front of us (we were seated by the teppan table). Although the price seemed a bit steep for the menu (420 dkk), you got tons of food for it as I have witnessed from my dining company's meal. You get the starter sushi / sashimi, you get the seafood teppannyaki with rice and miso soup and believe me, there were plenty of food to go around. One thing that pulls one star down from the perfect five was the SLOWNESS of the service. It took forever to get our food (well, the teppanyaki menu was a show of itself) but the sushi took a long time to appear, apparently. Even when we wanted to leave and wanted to get our bill, it took forever as well. This time it was alright because we had great dining company so we didn't mind waiting but we spent what it was like four hours in the restaurant. Sorry, I'd like my food to be faster please. Hungry! *points to stomach*

I thought the avocado on it would be more like cut up pieces instead of more like guacamole. I thought it would be better that way. I didn't love the texture of the avocado they put. We also got the blanched spinach with the goma sauce which was tasty but I wish it was warm instead of cold! It was a pretty small portion as well. Things I really loved: the seared salmon sushi - it was very fresh & the pieces were large! We got the wagyu stick and MYYYY GOD if steak were butter than that's how I'd describe the texture. Sprinkle a little of the flaky salt on it and it's one of the best things I've put in my mouth. Things I didn't love: the miso cod stick. I've had this before elsewhere and it's been way better.
