I cannot recommend the Biddeford Sticker Station / Jim's Auto Repair based on my personal experience. I brought in a vehicle that had passed inspections every year prior at multiple garages including "Jiffy Lube." This vehicle is my "back up" and spends most of each year parked in my driveway with very little use. Despite that, the Sticker Station person who stated that he was helping out his son for the day, failed my vehicle with what I believed were "questionable issues" along the same lines as described in other Yelp reviews. He made outrageous claims about "parts missing" from the under carriage while there was nothing wrong with the emissions. While I was there an older lady came in to complain because the plug on her oil pan had not been properly tightened or something and all of the oil drained from her system making her need to have the car towed and forcing her to pay for a "rental" vehicle. After telling the lady that there was no way she would have been able to drive off their lot with a loose plug, they stated they would "look at it" once she had it towed back to their shop. The woman was close to tears at the end of the interaction. While I don't need to be "babied" by my mechanic or any other service provider, I do expect a certain level of decency and respect when a person interacts with me, especially when I am polite to them. My significant other went to get a sticker on her car and mentioned she was going to get a vanity plate later this year. The brainiac told her he couldn't give her a sticker because she was going to change her plates months from now. Think about that. I guess every one of us that were forced to get new plates this year have invalid stickers according to this guy. read more

I recently moved to Maine and registered my vehicle today. I then proceeded over to the Sticker Station to complete my Vehicle Inspection. I have never been to this location before and pulled in front of an open bay. There were three workers standing inside and all of them just stopped talking and started to stare at me. I then exited my vehicle and walked up to the open garage and said, "Excuse me gentlemen, I am here to get my inspection sticker, I just registered the vehicle today." One of the gentlemen put a cigarette in his mouth and then proceeded to tell me, "First of all you can't park there, move your vehicle where you see the other cars." He then started to walk out of the back door of the garage bay as he finished giving me instructions. "Then grab your stuff and wait in line like the rest of the people." There is no need to be so rude. If I knew the process then I wouldn't have asked. I left the car running so obviously I am not going to leave my vehicle in front of the garage. I was polite when I asked the procedure, the least you could do is give me the same respect back, take the unlit cigarette out your mouth and look at me when you are giving instructions instead of walking away. That was all I needed to experience so I left and went to another local shop. It is just not necessary to treat people this way. If I could give negative stars I would. read more

I thought it was because I was African American! The kid was so rude. I went in for an expections and the kid points paper on the counter. The paper says inspections will start up again at 1 PM I walked in the door at 11:55 use the bathroom came out. I guess it was a minute after 12 noon. Apparently they have enough customers they don't need to be nice. I drove from Kennebunk to that dump. Never again. There is a group of us that read reviews unfortunately I did not read reviews on this place before Drive there. read more

Top notch! Good people, friendly, and really helpful. Contrary to other's opinions, these folks don't pressure or upsell. They give a thorough inspection and only identify deficiencies--which is kinda the point of a safety inspection. Minimal wait time unless you wait until the last days of the month! Very busy place, but they are straight forward by the book and fair for inspections. No appointment necessary.

Fast inspection and they never try to sell you things your car doesn't need. You can't get an oil change here. Oil change garage is probably just the closest category to inspection station. read more

I failed my inspection at the sticker station in Biddeford because my passenger side windshield wiper blade wasn't up to their standards. There are at several parts stores within walking distance of this business so I told them I would grab a wiper and throw it on myself . They told me that would be fine, but I would have to pay to have it inspected again. So I had 2 options. Pay them to reinspect the vehicle, or pay them to replace the wiper. I asked how much they would charge for labor, and they told me it would be be 12.50$, The same amount they would have charged for a second inspection. This is a complete scam, and unfortunately Maine law allows crooks like these to get away with it. I am more than capable of replacing a windshield wiper, but I didn't want to spend all day there, so I just forked over the dough and paid them 12 dollars for 30 seconds of labor. Maine state inspection laws are a joke. They allow shady mechanics like these to cheat people out of their hard earned cash. read more

The latest inspection scam happened to me at the Sticker Station in Biddeford. I have a Toyota that came from the factory with a slight tint in the windshield. It was a standard item on the car. It is hardly noticeable. The technician at Sticker Station would not do an inspection of the car unless I paid $30 for a tint certification. I am a senior citizen with not a lot of money and anyone could plainly see that the slight tint was not hampering any driving at all. How about a little common sense. read more

Don't be fooled by the positive review on this place. This place is a ripoff. Took my car to a mechanic. Told me all I needed was 2 new tires and a new sway bar. Not convinced about the sway bar, I bought new tires and took my car to the sticker station. After TWENTY FIVE minutes (knowing my car would pass) the kid comes out telling me I have a light out and gave me the run around about if I change it he'll charge me another inspection fee. EVEN though it would be cheaper to do that, by then there was a line of people behind me. Something like seven dollars for the light and $30 for labor. I'm positive he unscrewed the bulb after finding nothing wrong. I have reported this place to the BBB and am warning everyone about there shady tactics!! read more

I am new to the area and needed my car inspected. The Sticker Station failed it because of a small running light. The inspector came into the office and told me it would cost a minimum of $22 for the first 15 minutes to change the light bulb. I declined knowing that it would likely take more than 15 minutes (plus an ridiculous amount for the bulb). The inspector headed back into the garage. I called my husband who suggested just letting them do it. Car is in still in the garage, I opened the door to the garage and gestured, the mechanic returned and I told him just to do the light. I am subsequently informed that I will now owe another $12.50 for a second inspection. I am astounded. My car hasn't left the lot and they want to charge me again? Both of the men who were working at the shop were incredibly indignant and rude to me. I left the business and drove to a auto parts shop, got the bulb for $3, replaced it without incident. Both the auto parts people and the subsequent station I drove to were incredulous that my sticker had been destroyed because of a tiny lightbulb (New inspector wryly remarked "Well that looks like a serious road hazard doesn't it?). Both businesses told me that they had heard others who had similar poor experiences at this Sticker Station. Stay away or go and have them attempt to rip you off. read more

Went to get a sticker this morning and had my two young children with me. The young man who did the inspection came out and told me I didn't pass (which is fine) Now, I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to cars, so I am just asking a question to try to understand why I didn't pass so that I can tell my husband when he gets home. All of a sudden a different employee (whom I assume is the owner) starts being extremely rude/condescending to me if front of my kids. I immediately say "sir, you do not need to speak to me so rudely" and he snaps at me again. At this point I say I would like to pay and leave. The employee also threw my car keys at me across the counter. I am extremely upset and completely blown away that someone can be so damn rude to another person for no reason. I would never recommend going to this sticker station (I've been to others with much better treatment). And the the gentleman who was so disrespectful to a customer in front of her children, shame on you. read more

I just went to the Bidd. Sticker Station today aroung 11 and there was a full house. I waited my turn and when it got close to noon (closing time) it was just me and another customer left. The mechanic came in and said he'll be doing one more car since it was close to closing so I asked him if he was going to my vehicle too and he said he wasn't working over since closing time was noon. So basically I waited an hour just to be told 'tough shit I'm going home!' Really?! That would be like going grcery shopping and waitig in line for an hour then told by the cashier that the store is closing and to put all your groceries away! Not good Sticker Station, not good! I guess I'll be looking for a new inspection place from now on! read more

I wouldn't go to an Italian restaurant and order a steak, so lesson learned... Don't go to a place called the sticker station and expect a quality oil change They have recently started doing oil changes at the Biddeford location, and from my experience today, I'd say they are ill equipped to handle it in addition to inspections. When I arrived I was the only customer. They pulled me right in and got my info for the oil change in just a couple minutes. Over an hour went by before the technician came in and told me she was having trouble removing the filter. At this point other customer's who had been waiting got impatient and started complaining, and what does she do... She starts doing an inspection while my car is still on the lift. I understand she was trying not to lose business, well anymore business, since some people had already come and gone, but really? So at this point she is going back and forth between the cars and 42 minutes later TA-DA... my car is finally done. In case you missed it, that's a 1 hour 42 minute oil change. After all of that, as if it weren't enough, The technician spilled oil on belts cause a loud squeal from the belt slipping, and she failed to put the skid plate back on properly (Upon calling she admitted she still had some parts at the shop) . Do I get a sorry for the wait... NO. I get charged full price and she thanks the other people for their patience. Now I have to go back tomorrow and pray she has all the missing pieces to the skid plate and that some didn't fall out between their and work. (For a VW it can cost $150-$200 for the pieces and installation) Because of the good reputation and good experiences I'd had getting inspected, I thought I'd rather go their than Prompto. Don't make my mistake! read more
