I prepaid for a classic eyelash extension on their app for $200. I thought after paying it would take me to a landing page that shows their availability. Nope. Ok...I click around and see I can book with Amy Rojas separately. This is not a smooth shopping experience but whatever. I pick out a time that works and book it. The scheduling page says her booking is $250. Ok but why did I just pay $200 for a classic? I text and call to get some clarifications but got nothing. I assume it's an error as there is only one option I can pay for classic extensions. I get a call from Amy a week later to tell me her rate is actually $250 for a classic, what I paid for is not refundable. And I have to pay another $50 if I wanted to cancel. When I ask her why I paid $200, without skipping a beat, she says that's the rate for another technician, and says everything is clearly explained on her site. If there are two options, why does your app only show the $200 option?? -- good thing I took a screen shot so I can dispute it with my credit card. I check her site again and see she's updated her app right after to reflect the pricing change. Gee thanks for changing it after the fact. I don't want you near my eyeballs. read more

It was December and I was 3 days from an event I needed make-up for. In between texts and emails, I was booked within hours. I was informed of all fees before I signed the contract. Not only every detail was in my contract, but the person taking care of me (I wish I remember her name) made sure I knew about them upfront. My artist was Winstead and he did an awesome job. I felt much more than 5 stars. He played some music in the background. We chatted a little and in an hour I was done. My make up lasted until the end of night. Got lots of compliments. Since I was the only one getting my hair done (my bridesmaids opted to do their own hair and makeup to save having to pay for it themselves), it was hard for me to find a vendor with no minimums. I was fortunate enough to find Stylist to Go who had no minimums, and Carmen, who did my hair trial and my wedding hair, was perfect. Carmen listened to my vision and worked off of my Pinterest board seamlessly. She combined looks together to give me the look that I loved. She pinned my veil to my hair and stayed a little longer after I had gotten into my gown to make sure my veil would stay in place. Amy has been doing my hair for years. I have had my hair cut, colored, and styled by her for various special occasions. I can honestly say she is very talented, professional, and knowledgeable about what she does. She recently styled an entire wedding party I was a part of and she did a fabulous job! She arrived on time, fully prepared, and styled everyone's hair beautifully to their specifications. Everyone had unique requests for their hairstyles--from funky buns to soft waves to formal up-dos. I booked Stylist to Go for hair and makeup services for my elopement party for 9 people (bridesmaids, MOB, MOG, etc.). I must say, I'd give the stylists themselves 5*s, but the organization of the company left a little to be desired. Everyone else has left such glowing reviews that I hope this was only my experience, but thought it important to share regardless. In case you don't get through my whole saga, which I understand, the sum of it is that I didn't get a confirmation before the day before, had a hard time getting Amy on the phone, and then was double charged (but then un-doublecharged without contact). So... here's the whole saga. Good luck following along. Elopement party was on 10/17. I filled out the details sheet on 10/8 and received an email from Amy that day telling me that later that day I would receive a "final service schedule and set it along with your confirmation email" as well as a final invoice. I received neither and realized on 10/14 that I hadn't gotten the schedule or invoice. I sent Amy an email on 10/14 and asked when we were starting hair and makeup. No response. Then on 10/16, I texted and called and was unable to get Amy on the phone. At that point, it was the day before the party, and I was freaking out a bit because I still didn't know what time we were starting (or whether we were starting at all!) I found another number on the website and called that number and finally heard back from someone at 1:35p the day before the wedding with the schedule. The final invoice also came that day and it said "This payment should be received before midnight, on the day of your reserved wedding day services." So, I read that as payment after services, which is apparently incorrect, because later that day, Oct 16, 2015 at 6:15 PM, I received a notice that if the invoice wasn't paid by midnight that day, I'd be charged a late fee. I didn't see it until after midnight and because this was inconsistent with the earlier email, I freaked out and paid it as soon as I saw it even though my step mother was actually paying for the services. So anyway, services were great. Wedding complete, honeymoon complete. We told the stylists to run my stepmom's card while we were there. However, then we saw later that both my stepmother and I had both been charged for the services. I had to call Amy and it turns out that I was actually refunded through paypal but there had been zero communication of that fact. So, stylists great, communication could use some work. My least favorite part of this whole thing was during an apology from Amy, she accused me of sending my details sheet late (which I did not, and which she admitted later). If you mess something up, trying to blame it on the consumer is not a good look. I'd rather just get an apology and leave it at that. read more

Amy has been my stylist for several months now. My hair has never looked better! I hate to take the time to do my hair and she has given me great tips on how to maintain it. She definitely understands how to take care of thick, curly hair, which is a major plus. I've had stylists before who didn't know what to do with my curls, so I'd always straighten it. With Amy's help, I've been wearing it curly almost every day and people comment on how nice it looks. They didn't even know I had curly hair! Best of all is the convenience factor. I hate to leave two stars given all of these amazing reviews. I'm sure the stylists themselves are fantastic. I decided not to book with Stylist To Go because all of the extra fees kept on adding up and the price seemed way too expensive for me. Just a heads up, MAKE SURE YOU READ THE ENTIRE CONTRACT. There are so many extra hidden fees that might not be on your original quote. I'm glad I read through everything and clarified whether or not certain additional fees would be included. One fee I can't get over is the "Travel fee". On this company's website they say "We are an exclusively mobile company, offering affordable hair, makeup and lash services at your doorstep, professionally, in the VA, DC, and MD metro areas." BUT, if your service location is more than 10 miles from the Alexandria, VA zip-code 22303, they will charge you $2 per mile per artist. First off, plenty of DC is more than 10 miles from that zip code. How can a company say they service the VA, DC, and MD metro areas but will end up charging a "travel fee" for the majority of that area! And not to mention isn't this a MOBILE company?!?! AND, on top of that, if you live 10.1 miles from that zip code, they charge you for the FULL 10.1 miles, not the extra .1 miles past their incredibly, ridiculously small 10 mile radius. I've never booked hair and make-up services before, but after reading through the contract and seeing how many clauses and different fees can apply for so many things, I didn't feel comfortable giving my money away to a company like this. read more

Below is some background information in bulletin form to make it easier: Event type: Wedding Location: Lorien Hotel, Old Town Alexandria. Number of people: Myself (bride), 3 bridesmaids, Mother of the Groom, and flower girl.... All by herself. Contacting Amy: Very easy, and she responds promptly to her emails and phone calls. She always made me feel like a priority and never me feel that I should be doing this or that. Most importantly, she LISTENS TO HER CLIENTS. The trial: I had a trial hair cut at the salon where Amy works. She made me a top priority..... very impressive. I went after work around 6:00 and I stayed for about 1.5-2.00 hours. She does not double or triple book you with other clients - When you go to her, you are the priority. The wedding: The entire preparation stemmed from the hair. Amy created an agenda starting at 11:00 am for 4:30 photographs allowing enough time for all 6 of us to get our hair done and have make up done intermittently. We were done EARLY - and were not stressed for time at all due to her planning so well. Amy was professional, on task, and extremely down to earth. She takes what you ask for and brings it to fruition. My mother-in-law who is usually skeptical about how well things turn out was impressed. Recommended: Absolutely! I am recommending her to all of my friends getting married. She does not overcharge you and really makes it a great experience working with her. read more

I was beyond impressed with Stylist To Go. I ended up booking them somewhat last minute for my wedding this weekend. Amy was HIGHLY responsive and professional and was patient with my many questions. On my wedding day, Amy and Catherine showed up at my hotel with their gear in tow to do my hair and makeup and my mom's makeup for my wedding and WOW. My daughter hired Amy for her bridal attendants. The stylists were fine, but I was very disappointed that Amy continuously called my daughter during her wedding ceremony to make sure she got her money, which I had promised to pay. My credit card company had called about a potentially fraudulent charge. I told them I was at a wedding and would take care of it after the wedding. Not only did Amy call both me and my daughter call during the ceremony (friends answered our phones because we were obviously busy), but she told me that she would take legal action if she was not paid immediately, even after I gave her all the information on my credit card. The constant calls came in the midst of our joyous festivities. I am making this comment on Yelp and hope that Amy will treat other clients with more consideration during a wedding ceremony. Wost Customer service!!!! In the beginning I had explained to Amy I had difficult hair to style and certain features that are hard to manage. For the price of $113 you should get up to 3 styles of your choosing. Well, One style the lady gave me, was not of my choosing and when i said hey wait a minute, I didnt ask for this she didnt put the time or effort into giving me what I wanted. I explained there was a tutorial on line a few times if she needed guidance on how to do a certain style but ignored me. She did a quick job of something to basically shut me up. After explaining to her and showing her how to part my hair she still didnt understand. It was basically like I had one of my girlfriends playing with my hair. Now, dont get me wrong, she was nice and courteous and was on time. But for $113 I expect hair that I cant do myself... all of the styles were something I could have done myself and saved the money and the time. The worst part about it was the owner or manager Amy, after expressing my concerns to her she also ignored me and proceed to give me a sales pitch... not listening to anything I had to say, I almost felt as though she didnt even read my email. So now I am stuck with this bill for for a job I could have done myself... Yet I wasnt offered a discount for the bad service, nor an apology. INSTEAD I was slapped with a bill and said you must pay this in 24 hours or you will be changes a 10% late fee. STAY FAR AWAY, sure they are slightly cheaper than the other bridal hair places but it looks like you get what you pay for. and I am now poorer and still looking for a stylist. And if you notice all the other reviews Amy was the stylist... maybe b/c she actually works in a salon. I wonder if this review would be different if Amy had been the one doing my trial hair appointment. I just wish her customer service had been better and either A) offered another trial- on the house or B) offered a refund and/or C) actually listened to her clients concerns. read more

Amy and her team were excellent! Amy and her assistant, Leigh, arrived around 9AM on the morning of our wedding and did nine women's hair. The makeup artist, Latoya, was also fantastic, and did four women's makeup. We were all ready to go by 1PM and everyone looked gorgeous! Amy and her team were all very professional and stayed cheerful the whole morning. It got a little frantic with everyone trying to get ready together, but Amy's team was really great. They are all very friendly and made the morning really fun. Also, the quality of their work is awesome. My hair and makeup stayed perfect the entire day. I found that working with Stylist to Go before the wedding was very easy. Amy answered emails promptly and was very communicative, which was great as a bride trying to manage so many vendors. I also really loved my hair and makeup trials. Amy tries out three hairstyles for her brides, which I really liked because I actually got to see the various styles. One really nice thing about Stylist to Go is that they come to you. This was great, as we were able to stay in the hotel, rather than go to a salon. We had lunch in the hotel room and it was much more relaxed since we did not have to worry about getting to and from the salon. One last thing I liked about Stylist to Go is that Amy made payment very easy. She has an attachment for her iPad, so you just pay with your credit card right there and you get a receipt emailed to you. All in all, my experience with Stylist to Go was very positive, and I highly recommend Amy and her team for a wedding.
