Another trip to Jersey shore this hot July day, full sun and high dew point is good reason to visit this Stewart's on the edge of Point Pleasant! My hubs and I spent many a date night at the multiple Stewart's locations throughout N.j and always love their bottled root beer, ice cream floats and other tasty treats. I noticed a huge sign advertisement for Giffords Of Maine hard ice cream with about 25 flavors and decided to try a few dips in a banana split: Blueberry, Pistachio and Banana Cream Pie!! I'm not a big banana fan but that was my favorite. ($9) WOW, great tastes, creamy and fresh! Hubs had a root beer float and a Chicago foot long Hot dog. The root beer, of course, was good. It's required by the company. But the hot dogs were the worst I've ever had. They obviously don't buy the same hot dogs as other Stewarts restaurants. Plus I asked for relish only because I don't like mustard. The relish they have contains mustard so I had to bring it back. We had taken our kids there over 20 years ago, and it was terrible then. I have mixed feelings about Stewart's Root Beer. It's as good as it's ever going to be. From the stale ish roll to the grey slices of tomato to the last piece of iceberg lettuce (you know the one) to just a smidgen of mayo, the California burger that I attempted to enjoy took a wrong turn at Las Vegas. This burger, was not a trip down memory lane. In fact it was pure salt! The root beer, although a classic should only be enjoyed in a bottle. The tap version is super sweet. Nice friendly service. We only went there for the root beer float. The service was good, the float was ok, but then you know what you are getting Stewart root beer and a big scoop of ice cream. It was very foamy and creamy but the portion is on the small side. Also cash only. Plenty of outdoor seating. They also have food but we didn't try it. Twenty- two dollars for a footlong hotdog, onion rings and soda. Footlong was $7.50 and was served with a regular bun so I only got a little chili and onions. They added an additional two-fifty for the chili and onions, bringing the skinny hotdog to ten dollars. Small portion of about five small onion rings (probably came frozen out of a box) was six seventy five. 20 oz soda was four dollars. With tax the order came to $22.16. This is not like any other Stewart's location-in a bad way. The menu is completely unclear with what's included & the young staff members seem to not know what's included either. Our order was completely messed up & when the owner (who was on the grill in the back) inserted himself, it went downhill from there. The server immediately said that she made the error putting in the order, which never prompted any kind of apology from the owner, His angry tone & mean mug about having to add the missing elements (cheese & bacon)was mind blowing. Sitting there eating our overpriced & mediocre food (flat soda,wilted lettuce, small portions) while hearing the owner mutter under his breath made the experience terrible. The only reprieve was hearing many customers after us sounding confused as to what exactly they were getting. If you still eat here after this warning be aware that this strictly outdoor location accepts CASH ONLY. Our 4 hamburgers, 3 fries & 4 soft drinks were around $85! I would be remiss if I didn't write a review for this place. My friend was craving ice cream and Stewart's was walking distance from our hotel so we stopped by. She got the Sea Salt Caramel Truffle flavor in a cup. I grabbed a spoon to try. In my second spoonful, I bit down on something hard - it hurt my tooth. Carefully checked my mouth and pulled out a staple! Not a regular office staple but more like a harder industrial one (small though). I was shocked and immediately stopped eating and started thinking about how much worse that could've gone. I really wasn't sure what to do - we could've turned back and alerted them, but I didn't want to make a scene and hoped it was an honest accident. Definitely a go to when I'm headed home from the beach. Stewart's classic rootbeer is my favorite soda especially with a good ol burger. Park your car and wait for them to come to your car and take your order (what I love about them). I had the burgers, fries, onion rings, and hotdogs and they're always really good. Never again. So go to Stewart's waitress directs us to a table. Takes our order. Root Beer was good. Burger was small and dry. Fries were cold. That's not even the biggest problem. What a disappointment. Stewart's just "ain't" what it used to be. I guess there's no 'Stewarts' standards any more. Every operation kind of does and serves whatever they want along with Stewart's Root Beer products. Other than that nothing is the same. Loved their Coney dogs in the past. Service was so poor we ordered 3 grilled cheese sandwiches and a cheeseburger it took over an hour and a half. The grilled cheese was so tiny and the burger was thin and not even enjoyable , I would have made it better myself at home it was a complete waste and it cost $80 ?! This is the best kept secret in Point Pleasant Beach, and it's right there in plain sight! On Broadway on the left going to the beach. I remember Stewarts as a Root Beer float kind of place, and they still have those. But they have gourmet ice cream--better than anything I've had on the boardwalk or in town, and I've tried them all. We were looking for a casual dinner but fell for the temptation of the seafood sampler, and I'm so glad we did. It contained a large perfectly coated and fried filet of flounder, a crab cake, clam strips, French fries, and the best coleslaw I've ever had--and I make my own at home! Lots of tartar sauce and lemon wedges. It was a 93 degree day, and I thought we would order and bring the food home, but instead we found their covered patio perfectly comfortable, with a cooling sea breeze. We ate our fill and still had some to take home, the portions were so generous. Clearly the chef in the kitchen knows what he is doing and probably spent his culinary career in some high end places. Here you get the quality of the fancy sea food restaurants in town without the high prices. Be aware: they do not take credit cards, so come with some cash. You won't be disappointed. Not nearly as it lived up to be. My brother and I got bacon-cheeseburgers and they were cold and very dry. My father got a shriveled up hot dog that he described as not good one bit. I'll never come back.. Needed a quick bite on the way home and stopped here as it looked crowded. I've been to a Stewart's before so I was expecting some good food. Unfortunately that was not the case. I ordered a hot dog, jalapeño poppers, lemonade and a chocolate ice cream. The hot dog was scary, I can't even tell what type of meat it was made out of, tried putting ketchup on it but it was worse as you can tell the ketchup was sitting outside in the heat for a long time, the bun was also stale and falling apart. The jalapeño poppers were good but for $8 for 3 tiny things, absolutely not. The lemonade, you get a big container, with just lemons and water, no sugar or anything else so it tasted like nothing and it was like drinking water with a slice of lemon from a restaurant. Tried to give them one more chance by ordering their ice cream, nope.. I got a chocolate ice cream in a cone. The ice cream was good but you get literally one scoop for almost $7 and a hard cone that I couldn't even bite into because it taste like it sat out all day. 6/17/2013 3 photos 1 check-in here I was in the neighborhood and saw the famous orange Stewart's sign and right away it transported me back to another place and time when my children were babies and we would go to Stewart's for delicious foot longs, fries and of course that famous Stewart's root beer float with vanilla ice cream. It was calling my name and i just had to have one. We pulled in and everything looked the same other then they make homemade pierogies at this particular Stewart's . I went up to the window and placed my order. I got the foot long with sauteed onions and cheese, and some fries and a small root beer. Everything was ready in a few minutes. My hot dog was just as i remembered it. Crispy, but tender on the inside and the bun was soft and half its size. It was late so i didn't want chili, i ordered sauteed mild onions, you have a choice of mild or spicy, and sauerkraut and i added the spicy mustard that they supply on every table. From the first bite to the last It was the perfect combination ,hot dog, bun, condiment. The fries were golden and tasted great with ketchup. To wash it all down i drank that icy cold root beer it was so good. My memories now of Stewart's are as good as they were then. I can't wait to return read more

Read through the other reviews, with only a few exceptions, it is unanimous - this place is terrible. I ordered a burger, fries, and a root beer. The burger was a tasteless, frozen, skimpy patty. I wasn't sure if the meat had turned bad, but I couldn't eat it. The fries were below average. My companion's food was no better. The bill for two was $35. plus tip! For garbage food. How this place has stayed in business is beyond me. Don't eat here. Period. read more

If you want an overpriced, mediocre, incorrect food order served by an ambivalent waitress, this is the place for you! Bonus? PROS: The food here is surprisingly good! I had a hot dog, hamburger, and fries along with a drink all for the right price. They are very clean and there is a ton of parking. CONS: Despite some employees being helpful, they seemed like they didn't want to be there. It only has outdoor seating and god only knows what the bathrooms look like. Terrible service. I arrived at Stewart's just wanting to do a pick up order so I walked up to the counter. NO ONE greeted me or paid any attention that I was a customer waiting. After about five minutes I said where do I order because the lack of greeting led me to believe I was in the wrong spot. The girl rudely told me there. So I place me order and move to the side. Terrible service. Racist. Rude waitresses. We were desperate for some change (a couple of quarters) so we could park our car -- they refused to help pointblank. Even though we were paying customers and ordered food and ice-creams. Ice-creams were very ordinary. Nothing to write home about. So, that's that. We then requested if we could park our car in their premises for a fee -- they said we could for $25 per hour! Wonder if Disney Land charges this much? Also, other cars were parked there without a fee. They invented a fee, and an exorbitant one at that, just for us. Never going back there. This is the worst Stewarts I have ever visited. Ordered a grill cheese sandwich, side of cheese fries and cheese steak. Grilled cheese comes out and cheese isn't melted so I send it back. After 10 minutes grilled cheese comes back still not melted with an explanation that melting the cheese will cause the bread to burn - WTF? The bread on my cheesesteak was stale and was drowning in cheese. My son's side order of cheese fries was so small it was comical. Unless you want root beer - drive right by this Stewarts. read more

Yuck! Ice cream in the $4.50 float was freezer burnt. The hot dog was oddly very spicy and the chili on top was nasty with beans and pieces of stringy (not ground beef) and it was too sweet and spicy. Stewarts only tastes great in my memories. read more
