I continue to return annually for check-ups. They are clear regarding the pricing and don't do additional tests unless needed or requested. For instance they don't dilate your eyes if unneeded unless you request it. Side note: the online registration is convenient albeit long. The uploaded photos of your insurance card and license don't go through so they need to scan them when you arrive. Parking is available in spaces surrounding the building.

Everyone is so friendly and always ready to help. We both are currently seeing Dr May. He is awesome!! He shows he cares about his patients by listening and making sure he answers any questions in a way you will understand. He willingly explains everything that may be going on with your eyes and makes sure he follows up at your next visit. Even if there are no eye problems, he still shows care and friendliness while being professional. It is a pleasure to visit Johnston Optimetrics. I had no previous eye complications or concerns. Day 1: * Dr. Adam Bryan came into the room and greeted me as follows, "So what's up, what's up, what's new, what's good?" etc. I am not sure if this was because I am black or some other insecurity he was projecting, but the lack of professionalism in his tone and attitude were disrespectful and put me on edge. * As he reviewed the digital retinal imaging, he noticed something strange in the right eye. In his words, "We will rescan this eye to make sure there is no monster there." The rescan never happened; instead, he had me follow him out and wait for a lady to help me purchase glasses. I explained to the young lady that I would just take the eyeglass prescription elsewhere. From that point, I left the eye exam still processing rudeness and completely forgot about the rescan. * As the day went on, my right eye ("the one that may have indicated a monster") continued to feel discomfort, straining, irritation, and sensitivity to light. In the evening, I happened to notice there was an excessive amount of blood in the sclera portion in that same eye. Now, it is important to mention that I did NOT do anything strenuous after the appointment. * I called the office to speak to the on-call doctor since it was now after hours, but I left a message and never received a call back. NO RESPONSE. Day 2: * First thing in the morning, I went back to the same eye doctor to explain what occurred. The original retinal imaging device had some issues getting an image the prior day, so I asked to be rescanned with a different retinal imaging machine to make sure everything was done as advertised. It is also important to note this exam is NOT covered by insurance but at this office it is mandated. I also did not add on day 1, the technician had difficulty getting the picture of the right eye and when she did, I immediately felt a burning sensation and sharp pain on this particular side. I explained to her this was different discomfort compared to the left eye which was scanned. * Upon my revisit on day 2, I overheard this same technician tell the new technician who was now helping me, that the machine was going through updates during the time we had issues getting an image of the "monstrous eye." This is concerning if you are putting a patient on a machine that is NOT working to its full capacity. * IMHO, Dr. Bryan's approach was arrogant, accusatory and aggressive. He asked me, if I did not see the blood in my eye, "Would I be concerned?" I have said something like this before as well, but it was to my child...not a patient. This physician went on to explain that he did not see any increased pressure or inflammation but that he would treat my "symptoms" with a prescription eye drop for inflammation (interesting). * Preparing to leave, I overheard him greeting another patient with professionalism, dignity, and respect. No, this patient did not look like me. Personal Note: What Dr. Bryant didn't know is that I have 15 years of experience in the medical field, I am fully aware and familiar with processes and procedures. I was not there to be treated for anxiety or paranoia; my eye was hurting, and the eye was obviously under stress with visual evidence to support this. This physician never addressed why the reimaging was skipped during the previous day when he noticed something questionable, but instead he rushed me out to purchase glasses from his company (as he is the owner) and then had me out the door. Putting his lack of care on me as the patient is what I would consider, unethical. In addition, he charged my insurance for another visit to follow up on this issue the very next morning. A good doctor would listen, assess and evaluate. No patient feels comfortable being greeted in a degrading manner, regardless of color. DO BETTER.

Instructing if I couldn't make it to call them. I went in the day of my appointment, a 45 min drive, and was told they filled my time slot because I didn't confirm the appointment, what!!! The customer service lady hardly made an effort to correct the issue or to get me in quicker. Now I have to wait another month to see them. All I wanted to do was to replace a pair of glasses I lost. I will not be back to this location and I am looking at options to use a different company!

My exam by Ali Jaffry, OD was the most thorough and best explained examination that I've received since retiring from the US Navy as a 20-year Naval Flight Officer. He took the time to thoroughly explain everything that he checked, the condition of my eyes, and how my prescription had not changed much since my last eye exam in 2019. Selecting frames and lenses for two (2) sets of glasses was also an excellent process. The person helping me ensured that I understood what options were available and best for my eyes. The price of the first set of glasses was very low and the overall cost for both pairs was very resonable. I highly recommend the MyEyeDr in Garner, NC and will check my eyes annually in the future.

So this year when I tried to schedule appointments for my husband and myself, I was told I had missed an appointment last year. I could not get an appointment the same day as my spouse. We live 18 miles 1 way from their location. Every question I had fir her was met with the missed appointment. Repeatedly, I could not choose an appointment time. I could not get an appointment for 3 months. Again because of the missed appointment. So finally I just told h er to forget it. We would go someplace else. I rescheduled with a doctor in Fayetteville, NC with in 2 weeks. Not an issue. Im happy to say I dont have to disappoint their entire office staff ever again. Please consider a ph9ne number for messages or emergency calls. Please keep this in mind. Even my vet for my dog isn't this strict. But then I never missed an appointment with them. I refused some extra testing and signed that I didn't want it, Dr Byrd told me I needed one more test after he did his 5 minute exa, he said it was covered by my copay. the test was the testing I had refused, not covered by any insurance copay the "copay". was the 40.00 charge for the test I didn't want he just referred to the charge as a copay. I think it's very unprofessional to do that. they are 100% about up sales. I paid 119 extra for contact lenses exam and training, I got no training and my entire eye exam took less than 5 minute. I left the office feeling like I had been taken advantage of and questioning whether I needed to go to another eye dr. no change in my prescription but I can't read toad signs I can barely see out of one eye but "it's as good as he can get it" save yourself a lot of money and go somewhere else that cares about their patients
