My wife and I like coming here for their lunch specials. The pizza is great and the salad bar is good but there has been a few times that it looked pretty bad. The husband and I love Steve's. I'm not sure if it's mostly nostalgia because we both grew up eating the cheesey breadsticks or because the food is awesome but either way we keep coming back. The cheesey breadsticks are our favorite because they are the size of a medium/large pizza with great flavor and less than $10. We pair it with two trips to the fresh and diverse salad bar and are very happy campers. The happy hour specials (discovered and frequented during grad school) are also a very good deal. As I child this was THE go to spot for pizza in Davis. That was over 30yrs ago. I went to school with Steves son Mark. We would frequent this spot as kids on weekends and I think a pizza back then was about $9. Oh it was so good. Years past and I know Steves franchised out and the others never quite stood up to the original on a consistent basis. But no matter. I always wanted to support a local business. I was in Davis the other day and had to stop in and give it a try again. First things first. This place hasn't changed at all in over 20yrs. I was hoping to see some contemporary updates. They even still had a galaga arcade game!! I will give them credit for having a fancy new soda machine. But other than that I was sad that a little updating hadn't been done. I'm now 40 and it was the same as I remember from when I was16. No matter. The pizza was what I wanted. I ordered a simple pepperoni pie just like I always used to get. And I will say it was EXCELLENT. it's was exactly how I remembered it. I never came to Steves for anything other than pizza because that's what they did best. Thanks for bringing back the original. This review isn't even about their pizza, which in its own right is amazing and you can scan other reviews going more into detail. Rather, it's their other menu options that warrant the 5 star rating. Particularly, their sliders! Those two mini-burgers are priced as a steal for how juicy, and well made they are. I always get the Mushroom Swiss sliders and I have yet to walk away disappointed by either taste or hunger fulfillment. I haven't had sliders this good outside of Berkeley. It's a real treat that they offer these in addition to their pizza offerings. read more

We like this place to bring our son at the end of the work day, watch the game and have a salad with our pizza. The pizza is ok but frankly I can't find good pizza on Davis. I wish we could have more than one trip to the salad bar and the service lacks personality at times but we're pretty extroverted. There seems to be 15 staff at any given time when there are like 4 customers but I appreciate that they support the students and local economy. We've had problems with delivery forgetting our dressing or being super late when they were short-staffed(?!) but we now enjoy going there at the end of the day. read more

I came here for dinner before leaving Davis and came with a group of five. Most of us ordered sandwiches while a person ordered pasta. As appetizers, we had their garlic bread. The bill totaled to under $20 since we had coupons from facebook. The food portion was enough to feed two people. Everyone was stuffed at the end. Food is quite delicious. This speaks volumes to me when a business reaches out to customers like this. I explained that we love their food; their veggie Phillies are incredible. Steve's has one of my favorites, the BBQ chicken pizza. I am hooked on it and I don't waiver from it if I am coming here to eat. The pizza is wonderful, cooked perfectly, BBQ warm and slightly cooked into the bread in places, cheese slightly melted, and chicken well browned. This place has a homey, old-style look on the inside, plenty of room for groups and two back-room sections. The main dining room has areas for large groups and booths for groups of 4. There is also nice outside seating that is covered and away from the street on a large porch. read more

It's also more friendly a place for kids than Woodstock's. There is no formal bar seating but the few bears they have on tap are good enough to get the job done. I had the gluten-free pizza here and it was solid overall. There are several different sizes and I went with the personal pizza, which was more than enough for one person. The crust was crispy and had decent flavor. They have a dedicated oven and utensils for the GF pizza, and the lady who took my order was helpful at telling me which topping to stay away from. Sadly, they do not offer GF pasta. The atmosphere is casual, and it's a great place for kids. It's nice to have another GF option for when I am in the area. read more

I love Steves the cheesy breadsticks are amazing but there is a very rude employee that's there quite often that ruins my time and even the food now. It's hard to enjoy a good meal with bad service. Every time I have had her take my order she is so awfully rude, bad attitude, she rolling, doesn't take the time to accommodate, and sometimes she has even looked at me while I'm waiting to get my order taken and still just stands around until she "feels" ready to pay attention to me. She's usually wearing her hair in a tight bun and I think I've heard people address her as Mikayla. Steves I am truly disappointed you would let an awful employee serve your restaurant. I love, LOVE Steve's gluten free pizza! It's the best in town at a great price and you can order a gf pizza in whatever size you want (not limited to one size like some other stores).
