Steve's Bites was pretty solid. I had the Italian beef and onion rings. I think the onion rings came from a bag of frozen onion rings. That's fine. I wasn't looking for gourmet. What I was looking for is a place close to McCormick Place to grab a quick lunch so I wouldn't have to wait in what appeared to be 45 minute lines for the cafeterias and McDowell's inside the convention center. Steve's fit the bill. It was a couple of blocks away. Not crowded. And the food was above average. It's not the type of place you go out of your way to find. My hotel was just a block away from this small restaurant that was recommended by other Yelpers. The food was so good that we came here twice! They have a good selection of meat, fish and vegetarian food. The first time we ordered sandwiches and fries. The second time we ordered rice bowls. The portion sizes are large, the vegetables and salads are very fresh, and the staff keeps the place very clean. The only thing I did not like was that they put more salt on their food than I prefer. In town for a work trip and daw this place. Decided to give it a try. Ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a drink. One great burger! It's a big sized burger, patty is 6.5 oz, with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions and a sauce. So let's say with all it was a messy dripping with goodness burger! Added the lemon pepper spruce on the fries and cajun spice on the burger, man of man. Definitely a taste bud explosion! I'll be back here again in June! read more

I only feel inspired to write this review for those who are not as privileged as I. I ordered the hummus and pita bread which was priced at 5.99 on their menu in-person. As the cashier took my order, I noticed the pricing on their system was increased by around 30 cents for both my food and beverage. I thought perhaps their prices included tax for convenience but no. Blatant misinformation. Pita was fine, hummus was an extremely small serving that clearly isn't enough for the serving of pita bread. My friend also got a 6.5 oz burger which after tip/tax/ and a random 1% "metro" tax, cost him 17.34. A singular burger, for 17.34. Unless you have no other option, which you do, I recommend for you to instead visit the numerous higher quality options that are within a 100 foot radius. Moral of the story, don't lie to your "valued" customers. read more

This place was absolutely amazing. I'm not from the area, but it's an excellent choice, whether looking for halal food or not. You can tell this spot truly cares about the quality of the food. They use some of the best ingredients & they avoid cutting corners. I saw a complaint about the price, but this stuff is top of the line in quality for this type of food, and it'll fill you up.The price is reasonable and completely justified. There is only seating for nine patrons in this joint so I had to experience this dried up piece of meat 20 minutes away from this place. Ordered at 10:50PM on Friday in mid-August. The food came promptly and was hot but my fish sandwich curiously came completely plain! A slab of fish on a hoagie. WTH? I merely asked for their house sauce on the side, not for the item to be without condiments! The fries were a bit soggy as delivery fries often are but I hooked them up in my air fryer. Thankfully I have plenty of lettuce and tomatoes here to fix the fish sandwich. I would say the polish I got with peppers was tasty, the fish was an error, and the fries were pedestrian as fries go. The driver was very cool and friendly. I may try them again in a pinch for delivery because they were timely after hours which is rare on the south side. read more

Everything was perfectly cooked; the fish in particular was excellent, but the gyro was good and the crinkle fries were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. So. This is a new place in the south loop. I went in to get a sandwich about an hour ago. It's nice and clean and has a small menu, the guy behind the counter was friendly and took my order. No issue The food- I am not a picky eater by any means. This was the worst example of a Patty melt I have ever had. Period. The bread wasn't toasted? The cheese isn't melted? What were you doing for 10 minutes while i was waiting for this? I asked a few of my coworkers what they thought, everyone agrees, the food here is just bad. Just a couple blocks from the convention center. Fantastic local eats. The Italian beef sandwich was so good, but it's got hot peppers so be ready for some heat. My wife got the philly cheese steak. Italian beef was awesome. They use a better quality bread than most places that can really handle the dipping . I won't ding them for giving me cheese sticks without any mozzarella in them. Like it was dried out and there was nothing left but the shell, and it was ZERO cheese. This was the only time this happened so hopefully they just continue to serve great food. read more

I received the food I ordered yes in a timely fashion. However, I ordered 2 gyro sandwiches and received them as bowls full of rice no pitas bread but rice and cucumbers and some other vegies. Not my kind of gyro......I ordered a Italian beef, I asked for easy hot peppers but got a pile of peppers instead. They did dip it exceptionally well though. ---- An old review a week prior ---- Do not order from them. Sometimes when I order two cans of soda, they only give me one, but I am charged anyways. I did that again tonight and called them when I only got one, and the girl on the phone told me that I will have to be charged again for a delivery fee to deliver the soda that they didn't put in my order in the first place. I told her why should I pay for delivery fee when it was THEIR mistake, and I requested for my soda to be delivered to me. She hung up on me. When I called a 2nd time, she picked up the phone and hung up immediately. So I called a 3rd time and told her why is she hanging up on me and she claimed it was a "mistake". I told her that if you are not going to deliver my can of soda at least offer to return the money, but you are not going to charge me for two sodas but only give me one, but still keep the money for two. And I asked for a Sprite and a Dr. Pepper, and they delivered me a 7 Up. Oh, yeah, no ketchup for the French fries. Who eat just dry fries with no salt or keptchup? And no napkins. Poor customer service, sometimes I forget why I don't deliver from them more often when I don't do so in months time. Just go to White Castles around the corner, even though they don't deliver. ----- 7/19/2019 ---- The woman whom I had issue with said that she would refund my money for the 2nd can of soda that they didn't put in the bag within 3 days. I checked my credit card account today 6 DAYS AFTER THE FACT, and no money was returned. So not only do these people do not have decent customer service, but they keep your money. Oh, while we are here, let me tell you a story which I forgot about which happened to me with Steve Bites in February. I called them an hour before closing. Perhaps a few minutes before delivery, a female called me and asked do I have $4 to pay for the delivery man. Mind you, I paid for delivery and tip in advanced on their online website, since I paid in advance. This heffa told me that they put their money away from the register already and they don't have the money to pay the delivery guy, so can I pay him. I was like what? That ain't my problem that a business can't pay their own delivery person, and a customer shouldn't have to pay on a business behalf. I paid for delivery ALREADY when I ordered the food. Why should I pay for delivery twice? If you can't pay your own delivery driver then you shouldn't have a business in the first place, or....have a restaurant that does not deliver and only do eat-in or carry-out. When my food came, I gave the deliver NOTHING. That sh*t was not my problem. Who owns this place? These people are stupid. Makes me wonder if they created a restaurant after getting fired from their previous jobs. And they thought that working for themselves would help give them a paycheck while being sh*t work ethics. I am so glad I remembered that incident to tell you the tale. But that last incident was the last straw. They messed with the one person today to mess with !!! Whatever stupid reason not to refund my money, even if it was for a can of pop, is worth me ragging on their dumb a$$es. Don't be mad, because I am only stating my experiences truthfully.
