They have a great playground,nice gym, there own caffeteria with fresh cooked food everyday. Hackberry has a nice library with a great librarian. They also have one of the best music programs in the state. The principal is awesome and all the staff are great.They also have some of the highest scores in the state. It took two years for my kids to get in but was worth the wait. I volunteer as a crossing guard three days a week and spend lots of time in the class room. If you live in arvada/westy area and looking for a school definetlly check out Hackberry. The only down fall is they have Half day kindergarden but just as effective as allday kindergarten.

I've had multiple meetings with the principal/teacher and even spoke with the superintendent but nothing has changed. She has been physically assaulted by a boy multiple times and we had a problem with other girls pulling at her clothing/jewelry to the point of damaging clothes and ripping a necklace off of her body. She did defend herself once but received an in school suspension for doing so. The last time I spoke to the principal he said my child was lying. I have personally watched the bullying happen and it makes me sick. I cannot believe this staff is letting my little girl continue to be bullied like this! Do not send your children here if you hope to have your children protected, this staff will not provide safety from other students.

There is a variety of climbing and sliding equipment; there are swings, a sandbox and plenty of green space to run around and be a kid.

The kids are supportive and encouraging to one another and the teachers are incredible, not only do they have a passionate love for God, they are wonderful people who go the extra mile, are excellent examples for the kids and know how to lead a classroom, firm and loving. I have seen a lot of "prettier" schools but FCA seems to be a community of people who care more about character, loving learning and glorifying God. He was amazingly kind and showed my little one that big kids aren't so scary and can be cool. After awhile a group of Gabe's friends joined- It was the cutest kindness thing ever! The teachers were great with their students playing basketball and very much involved. Everyone involved in this kiddos life is obviously doing a fantastic job and this kiddo deserves a shout out! Thanks Gabe for being a fantastic human being at such a young age! You made our day!

Sandoval Elementary seems to be one of the best elementary school choices in the Highlands area…read more The DPS system does not have an excellent reputation. My son has been attending Sandoval a few years now. Sandoval is a little strange. The classes are grouped so for example 1,2 and 3rd graders are all lumped together for 3 years. I did question this method, but the bright side is that it creates some stability in class mates and teachers. It's half Spanish speaking which I feel is a mixed blessing as well. My son is learning two languages but I am afraid he may end up a "jack of all trades master of none" but the verdict is still out. The school is kind of hard to get into, so I think the parents and kids seem to take learning a little more seriously at this school.
