At the time of writing this, my son has been at Park Hill Elementary for going on three months, and I cannot say enough good things about the staff, the administrators, and the school in general. There are a ton of kids that attend PHE, but they manage the chaos well. The parents are encouraged to participate, and communication has been exemplary. The only downside is that there is no A/C in the building yet, but that is in the works. Also, those little buggers keep spreading colds around and bringing them home. Other than that, great stuff!

The kids were freezing and when they tried to come back into the building to warm up, the doors were intentionally locked. When they found an open door, the teacher kicked them out. A complaint with the State of Colorado for child neglect and abuse was filed. I think Stanley used to be great but not anymore. I'm sure the recent positive reviews are from parents that fit the woke bill.

We just got back from the annual Carson Community Dinner. A spaghetti meal with as many parents,…read morekids and staff as we can find. It is held in the cafeteria and people and children are milling about, eating their pasta, smiling, chatting, laughing and just plain old ENJOYING this simple moment in time. The choir sang ... my heart grew at least 7 sizes. Smiling faces of elementary school kids, dressed up, singing in the round, singing their hearts out. It was better than any Broadway show I've seen. There were 3 young men, two 4th graders and one 5th, and they played the flute, clarinet and sax. There are no words for how cute this was and how hard these boys must have worked. Not to mention Angie Hanning, the music and drama teacher here. She is priceless and the amount of time she puts in with the children is great.Thank you Angie. We had to say good bye to our principal Gwen Gethers... after 30 years with DPS. Gwen will be nearly impossible to replace. It was one of those nights, one of those moments you have... when you "get" just how very lucky and thankful you are. This school has given us so much. I value the small class sizes, which helps teachers cater to his strengths and take note of his weaknesses. Unlike in DPS, where his creativity was stifled in the name of effective crowd control, at St. Elizabeth's, he can explore topics at length. And he is given strategies to improve on weaknesses, instead of teachers seeming to view them as character flaws. I also appreciate that this is a private school that isn't some rarified, all-white, upper class environment. The mix of families is a plus for developing him as an ethical, engaged kid.

However,…read morethis doesn't dispute the fact that the staff at St. Elizabeth's does not know how to handle situations involving bullying or learning differences. My child, that was previously in the elementary school, was not treated with the proper care that was needed for the delicate situation that was negatively affecting several kids. The teacher, dean, and head of school had no consideration for my child or me and tried to dismiss my concerns over their management of the situation. Aside from the bullying, the teachers at this school aren't equipped to deal with different learning disabilities and, unintentionally or not, isolated my child from the rest of their peers which led to said bullying situation. I've heard of several other bullying cases ranging from the elementary school to the middle school. This is a consistent issue for the Staff and Faculty at this school. The only reason this is a 2 star and not a one star is because my child that is still attending the school has shown over the years how good their education can be. However, this can never make up for the complete disregard of the safety of children attending their school. I've seen the community of this school deteriorate over the years and hoped that it would change for the better; but it has not.

We started at Montclair in 2010 and have been here ever since. The students, staff, and families make up an wonderfully diverse segment of Denver's population and have been a wonderful community for our family. I have also worked at the school the past few years fostering the Enrichment program which brings learning to life and enhances the curriculum in unique ways. Montclair focuses on Enrichment and Personalized Learning and fosters student learning in a variety of innovative ways including community partnerships, field experiences, and many guest speakers throughout the year.
