I don't have children of my own at the school, so all I can review is the facilities rather than the education aspect. However, my niece and nephew are geniuses so I can only assume it's because of the education they're receiving here (haha). The facilities are awesome. I've worked in the DPS system and this school is NICE. I'm there for every concert that the Bobcat Band puts on, as well as various talent shows. They don't use an actual auditorium, but the stage that leads into the cafeteria. The stage is nice.. and we, the audience, just sit on regular chairs. I've roamed the halls and checked out the classrooms. I wish I was fortunate enough to go to school here many many years ago!!

The school has great leadership, evidenced by the teachers' professional development opportunities, their latitude to adapt the curricula based on their own style and expertise, and by so many other factors. Teachers are award winning and quite simply, they care. My daughter loves school. She told someone when asked if she was looking forward to summer, "not so much." When asked why, she said "my teachers are awesome." Beyond the amazing educators and administrators, the family involvement is amazing. I feel very fortunate to be able to send my daughters to this school!

The kindergarten teacher my daughter got actively bullied my daughter over lack of ability to read. My daughter is still bitter, luckily that teacher retired, she was never punished for her behavior. Luckily her first grade teachers actually cared and she was quickly diagnosed with dyslexia. The over all lay out works well, and there were many good teachers. The gifted teacher was amazing and made my daughters life and my sons life much easier. Over all the school was a good place for my kids to grow up, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth that the teacher who builder my daughter didn't face any punishment.

My child has been here for 2 years now and Ms.Rhonda (the main secretary) has always been nasty and rude to not just me but other parents as well. One parent loudly asked her one day "why do you always pick on me & act nasty when I'm just walking my son to breakfast? Just stop it!" I can tell the secretary was embarrassed from the confrontation and everyone around looked like they wanted to applaud that mom. It felt like she took up for us all in a sense. The teachers are resourceful and nice, I'm just baffled how the principle allows someone with such a nasty demeanor represent the staff. I'm sure there are more complaints if people had the time to write a review about it.

We started at Montclair in 2010 and have been here ever since. The students, staff, and families make up an wonderfully diverse segment of Denver's population and have been a wonderful community for our family. I have also worked at the school the past few years fostering the Enrichment program which brings learning to life and enhances the curriculum in unique ways. Montclair focuses on Enrichment and Personalized Learning and fosters student learning in a variety of innovative ways including community partnerships, field experiences, and many guest speakers throughout the year. So, I came up with a list of "thank you's" I'd personally like to offer Montclair and the DPS system. (I have edited this list of thank you's to the few I think are relative to this review and the rest I am saving for my formal letter to the school board.) Thank you for changing my child's love of learning to a detestation of school. Now, my husband (also an RMSEL graduate) and I are looking at the school for our kindergarten-aged child. While RMSEL has grown and changed over the years, I believe its core values remain the same. The key takeaways I received from my time there are life skills that have followed me into adulthood and served me well in my career--resiliency, problem-solving, and independence. The expeditions were life-changing in so many ways: they offered my first experiences with developing countries, and they required a level of self-discipline that shaped who I am today. We currently have friends whose children are in kindergarten at RMSEL, and we love hearing about their experiences. Small class sizes, meeting children where they are, and introducing expeditions at such a young age are key reasons we're excited to return as a family. As a teenager, RMSEL was a blessing to me, even when I didn't always see it that way. Returning as an adult, I could recognize how the expeditions build resilience--even when the students themselves don't yet realize it. This school pushes kids to step outside their comfort zones, and many won't appreciate the benefits until years later. The very things I resisted as a teen are now the things I credit most for my personal growth. If you're looking for a school that teaches more than academics--a place that nurtures real-world life skills that will serve your children well into adulthood--RMSEL is a truly special place.

All the teachers are committed to laying down a solid foundation for your child's educational career. Your child WILL leave MSWP with a love of learning! I often found myself wishing I grew up as a Montessori kid. I noticed that MSWP students tend to have better social skills & a very strong work ethic compared to other preschools I've worked at. Our classroom truly felt like a family. We had so many laughs & ah-ha moments. My favorite was seeing the huge smile on a kiddos face when they mastered a lesson! But even cooler was when that kiddo would be able to give that lesson to a younger student in the classroom. These classrooms are truly a 2nd home for your child. MSWP will always hold a special place in my heart and I plan on enrolling my daughter there as soon as she's old enough!
