And don't get me started on the athletic programs when I was there. They talk about eligibility requirements for sports, but if you are a star athlete or going for a state title, that doesn't matter. The school's attendance rate, which has been on a decline for years now, dramatically declined once the deans started to tell students wandering the halls to go home. This is the same year that faculty began to worry about the declining attendance rate and expressing this worry to the students. The school's goal of 85% attendance rate? they made it unrealistic for themselves by allowing their deans to continue to antagonize rather than encouraging them to help anyone. If your student struggles academically or with authority, dont send them here. find somewhere better that wont make them feel singled out, like theyre doing bad, find somewhere that wants to help them improve that behavior. If your student is good at dealing with authority or excels academically, also keep in mind that this school is highly based in being a community. there are smaller options that provide just as many opportunities. all in all, its a fine enough school. Your child may do great things here, but certain things that the faculty do may lead them to hate school.

Mrachek I've noticed also use their website via parent/student portal for what assignments are due and what's past due, but I don't feel like it's always updated especially which assignments are going to become due. I did find it is a little hard to see what assignments my children are going to have due. I do wish that they would implement mandatory handwritten agendas for students to fill in, in every class, every day, even if they don't have anything.

Like all high schools, you get out of it what you put in (and sometimes not even then). The teachers were absolutely incredible with our autistic son. The students - amazing. I cannot tell you how impressed I was with the students. The special needs students had mainstream students volunteer with them, sometimes 3 mainstream to 1 SN. There was so many kids on the basketball team they ended up making two teams so everyone could play more. I'd go to the games and just practically cry with joy. My son had the best experience of his life with Grandview. It was worth everything we had to do to go there. I'm sorry Logan T had a bad experience. But Grandview is truly, truly wonderful.

My favorite classes were in the art building. Huge art rooms, fantastic theater (which professional companies would sometimes rent out), music and choir rooms. Such a fantastic building with student artwork hanging on the walls. I left this high school very prepared for college because I had teachers that challenged me and expected me to always bring my A-game. Go bruins!
