Their approach is to "talk" to the kids and have them fill out a "Reflection Form", which clearly accomplishes nothing--because the same kids repeat the same bullying behavior the very next week. To make matters worse, the tuition at ISD is incredibly expensive, and for that price, you'd expect a safe and supportive environment. Instead, the teachers' only response is to send emails to the parents, as if that will solve the issue. It feels like a performative, "Nutella Culture" approach: soft on the surface but lacking any real action or accountability. As a parent, it's heartbreaking to see children being mistreated while the administration turns a blind eye to the root of the problem. More and more families are pulling their kids out of ISD, and I'm beginning to understand why. If you care about your child's well-being and a safe school environment, I would look elsewhere.

"Immersion" happens twice a year, and involves a few days of "deep diving" into non-traditional subjects to accommodate the way gifted children tend to learn. The take-home workload often matches the pace of the classrooms, and parent/adult involvement is important to the overall success of children as they grow and evolve. By then, most high-risk folks will have been vaccinated. But, CA continues to put the needs of others over the social and emotional wellbeing of their students. There's talk that the kids will be able to "vaccinate their way out of wearing masks and social distancing in the fall." Some parents are not interested in this possibility until more information about vaccinating younger people becomes known. If you don't want to vaccinate your younger students, I'd look into another school.

The Colorado Academy community has helped raise our three boys. The staff is very contentious and dedicated to each individual child's development. The Montessori work is age-appropriate, engaging and instructive. There are also ample opportunities for gross motor development and free play. As a working mother, the highest praise I can give is that I never worry about my son at MAC. I know he's in good hands, well cared for, challenged to be independent and to learn, and is a happy camper when I pick him up.

Our toddler has been going to Iliff's daycare program for 4 months now. It's such a warm…read moreenvironment with experienced caregivers and teachers. It seems like all the staff in the school know her by name. Even on fussier days, her teachers are always so loving and attentive (and competent) and it's not long before she's engaged in an activity or playing nicely with her new friends. I feel so secure about having her there during the day- and I couldn't say that about a lot of other places.
