Instead of accepting the constructive criticism, and maybe learning from it, he got defensive. Then I mentioned how I didn't have much anxiety coming in, until he said, "Let's get this nightmare over." He got MORE defensive. "We have anesthesia available," he said. I don't know, simply not referring to the procedure as a "nightmare," right before performing it, seems a lot easier than doing anesthesia. On a side note, but worth mentioning, before the surgery, something in our conversation led me to joke, "My dad didn't tell me about sex growing up. One day my dad said, 'You know about the birds and the bees, right?' I said, 'Yeah.' And he said, 'Good, I'm glad we had this discussion'.... That was a joke." Dr. Bayat said, "Well, here's something that's NOT a joke. The only time my dad mentioned sex was he said, 'Don't get AIDS.'" I think he also said that his dad said, "Don't be gay." So, again, words that might not put certain patients at ease. Dr. Bayat seemed alright when I first met him, a week ago. It was very disappointing to see this other side of him, especially on the day of my first root canal.

I had never had a root canal or anything like this before so I was navigating this very painful and very scary thing for the first time. I must've called 20 different offices trying to get some relief because Friday morning when I woke up, the pain was excruciating. I called the Oregon Endodontic Group and I was lucky enough to get Emily in the office on the phone. Knowing they had a packed schedule, heading into an extended holiday weekend she put me on hold two different times in attempt to help me. She was unable to guarantee me anything, but told me she would take my Information and call me if someone canceled. After many more calls, my phone rang and it was Emily. She told me she couldn't guarantee me a root canal, but that she would figure something out and told me to head down and that they would try to squeeze me in, in-between appointments. As I called many places desperately seeking help, I didn't get anyone to give me the time of day, but she (Emily) had clearly put in extra work and care to help me. As a result, she was able to get me in a chair and eventually evaluated by the Endodontist. Dr. Tarsa suggested I have the tooth extracted as she felt like there was a good chance it couldn't be saved. I actually had an appointment with another endodontist to have the root canal done on Tuesday but Dr. Tarsa clearly had my best interests at heart which I viewed as showing honesty and integrity. She doesn't do extractions so I was worried about having to wait through the weekend again as I would need to see an oral surgeon for this. Emily was back in my corner calling surgeons trying to get me in. Finally, she got an oral surgeon across town to agree to squeeze me in which was a miracle. I went across town to Three Rivers Oral Surgery and they got me in right before they closed (they stayed late for me). In a world where it is sometimes a challenge to find someone that truly care's for the customer, Emily was my savior. I could tell during my first phone call to the office. She wanted to help me. I don't actually think anyone canceled, I think she continued to advocate for me after my call and promptly called me back. If it wasn't for her, it would've been a painful and rough weekend for me. Instead, I had a pain-free wonderful weekend with my family. Words can't describe how much I appreciate her care and efforts to help me. If everyone in the medical industry had office personnel like her the world would be a better place. From the bottom of my heart Emily, thank you.

When Dr. Kreutzer introduced himself, he was very professional, his demeanor put me at ease, he explained everything we would be doing at each step, he was able to show me the x-rays of my teeth in a fine detail, and explained thoroughly my situation. AND, even though he could have gone ahead and recommended the root canal, he suggested we wait and see with a preliminary step of having my dentist do a temporary crown. Long story short I was told that I needed a tooth extracted and that I needed to have implants in place at the cost of 4k. First they said they could retreat and then later decided it wasn't an option. I needed a second opinion and sought out another dental office. I ended up at Rose City dental. (Highly recommend Rose City as well) They referred me to Endodontics Limited. I had been in a lot of pain and was told that the only way out of my pain was extraction. Dr. Elkhal worked me in same day due to my special circumstances with pain. I noticed the difference immediately. The friendly receptionist who cared about my visit. Not just processing paperwork. The calming environment was a change from other offices I had been to. Dr. Elkhal brought me in and performed an evaluation and agreed that there was an infection but due to incredible swelling and current pain he would recommend to wait until the swelling went down. His evaluation led him to believe that the root canal could indeed be retreated and he wanted to save the tooth. I was prescribed antibiotics and we scheduled. The procedure went extremely well. I have had a few root canals and this one was by far the best. Dr. Elkhal is a true professional. It comes through in his explanation of the process. He explained step by step what we were doing to and why. I have never experienced this level of service from anyone in this industry. I am a Service Manager of an automotive service department and appreciate and recognize what Dr. Elkhal and his staff are providing. I had been putting it off for almost a year but knew that the longer I delayed, the more problems might crop up. I called Endoconic Specialty Group in Gresham on Tuesday. They schedule me for a consultation the next day. After going over the process and answering all of my questions, I was able to schedule the procedure for the same day as the office had a cancellation for later in the afternoon Everyone in the office was courteous and efficient. X-rays were taken to make sure everyone knew what was ahead and I was perfectly numbed by Dr. Vaughan. (I've never had such a totally painless experience.) A protective dam was installed to help with keeping it all clean and I was offered an option when I initally tensed up at the process. (I have a pretty strong gag reflex but the dental assistant worked gently and slowly, making sure I was comfortable with the device as she installed it.) The process took about an hour. I used my earbuds and music to distract me while they drilled away. I had mentioned problems that I had endured during previous root canals and it appears that Dr. Vaughan was able to get the job done without a recurrence of these problems. I was given specific post-op instructions on pain management and we discussed when I should call my regular dentist to schedule crown prep and cleaning -- in a couple of weeks. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. I would recommend this office to anyone needing a professional and painless root canal. One day later, I have no pain. Thank you.

The evaluation was completed, x-rays snapped, and all was explained to me in generous detail. The procedure was local anesthesia and took less than an hour. They were able to do it the same day, right after the evaluation. The office was very professional. Getting "root canal" is not the boogie-man I have been led to believe - no more or less than most other dental procedures. Note that I am a retired physician. I recommend Dr. Vaughan and this practice without reservation.

They reassured me that the process will be pain free as much as possible. The assistant provided me a headphones and I plugged in to my smartphone. I put on relaxing music to calm my nerves down. Dr. Johnson came in and apply the anesthetic. We waited a few minutes to let it set in. The process took about 2 hours. During this time I was so relaxed that it was boring. After the root canal was done the assistant went over what I need to do when I get home.
