Dr. Edgar was thorough and did a preliminary assessment for a root canal repair. Unfortunetly, his front office staff and office manager were dishonest about being "in-network" for my dental insurance. Fortunetly, I realized it before I had the root canal repaired. When I raised the dishonesty with the office manger and receptionist, they they smirked and sent me a threatening bill. Do not trust this office to be honest about their billing and do your due diligence before you submit to any services. read more

I was told up front that the maximum I would pay was $1,391 + $285, and that any difference would be refunded once insurance processed. I paid that figure in full before treatment. Afterward, the office added new charges and demanded an extra $150 that had never been disclosed. These post-procedure charges were not only unexpected but also considerably higher than what other endodontists in the area charge. When I questioned this, instead of honoring the original quote, they sent the balance to collections. This lack of transparency and integrity is unacceptable. read more

Really great experience and I am terrified of dental work. Dr. Edgar was able to identify the tooth in question and recommended a root canal. He numbed me up incredibly well. The injections were fast and flawless, I didn't feel a thing during the entire procedure. He worked very quickly and kept me abreast of the phases of progress as he completed them. Within about 45 minutes I was on my way. His assistant even gave me 3 advil before leaving to mitigate discomfort after the anesthetic wore off. All of his staff is super helpful and they had already contacted my insurance with a quote. The pricing was very transparent. I would recommend him any day of the week. read more

Went in this morning and as as my dentist suspected, I needed a root canal. So I had one done. I'm home now (before noon) and on reflection, it was an ok experience - for dental work ha ha. The dentist and his medical crew are exceptional. I couldn't ask for a better experience while in the chair. One of the office employees could use a class in empathy and when to keep her thoughts to her self. I'll never forget being told they would have to bill my insurance next year because they were only able to do most of the work this year. Not only does that mean I have to put other teeth on the back burner (for a year) but I had to pay for the work right before Christmas while they, the insurance, gets to wait. Her comment of "this is what happens when you wait until the last moment" was beyond antagonizing when each treatment is more then my rent. My partner and I have been prioritizing our care with that in mind and they had to be seen before I could at Norendo no less. She has the horrid job of asking for a lot of money from people but she could learn to do it with some heart and understanding. I get it I ran into the end of the year; I wasn't even thinking it was going to be possible this year. I'm pain free after the work they did yesterday but embarrassed by how I was treated on the way out. read more

Worst experience ever. He didn't numb me sufficiently and I was in terrible pain and told him. Finally he gave me second shot to numb but didn't wait for numbness to kick in. About 2 years ago (yes, that long ago) I noticed a small swelling in my gums. It was more annoying than painful, but I had just moved and was in search of a job, and all that jazz, so I put off having it checked out. Well, when I finally made it to a dentist and lo and behold, it was a massive tooth root abscess and needed a root canal... awesome. My regular dentist gave me a referral to Dr. Edgar's office, so I made an appointment to go see him. I made my consultation appointment and we set a date for the procedure, despite the damage and severity of the infection, Dr. Edgar assured me that he was confident we could save the tooth... Now, I work in the medical field, even though it's veterinary medicine, so I tend to be that annoying client who calls and has about 100 questions (sorry...). I just like to know what I'm in for. Every time I called, with a new question, the staff was so kind and accommodating, and they answered my questions. If the receptionist I spoke with didn't have the answer, she had someone who did call me back within a day or so. The day of the procedure, I was pretty damn nervous, I had no idea what to expect. Dr. Edgar was so nice, his technician (whose name I have forgotten because I am terrible), was great and they both addressedall of my concerns. We had a lovely conversation about Disneyland, pets, and joked about how they might use some of my veterinary distraction techniques (for when I give puppies and kittens their shots) on my when they give the the nerve block injection (pat my head, pet my nose, etc.). A little humor goes a long way for me. Even during an especially challenging part of the procedure, I never lost faith in Dr. Edgar's confidence, and when we got through it, it was even more awesome! I think I even gave a few "woohoo's" through all of the instruments sticking out of my mouth. These guys work strictly by referral, and I could not be happier that I was referred to them by my regular dentist. I was refused treatment because I put up opposition to the 3D X-ray he's so adamant to use. Apparently I made his blood boil because he said I had his adrenaline going. He is more focused on up-selling an X-ray that's not covered by insurance than using tools provided and paid for to take care of obvious problems. read more

I have a complicated case with lots of trauma to my teeth and mouth from a major accident and he really took the time to try to figure out the best course of action. I had a dental emergency with tremendous pain even after max-ing out on Ibuprofen and acetaminophen. I called Dr. Edgar on Sunday evening and got a called back within 30 minutes. He scheduled me for his office the next morning at 7:00 AM. Root canal therapy certainly is no fun. Dr. Edgar and his assistance were very gentle, professional and knowledgeable. I had a severe infection, and they still couldn't get me in for a month. I didn't realize that it was solely an evaluation. After the 'evaluation' it then took two weeks for them to perform the surgery. At that point my tooth was a total loss, and I was in excruciating pain. You know root canals are never fun. Never exciting. Never cute. Especially when you have "funny shaped roots" like this one. But, if one must canal a root, have Dr. Edgar canal that root. I have a lot of dental anxiety and found out I needed a root canal. My regular dentist referred me to Dr Edgar and I couldn't have been happier with the care I received from him. I was scheduled within a week of my initial phone call. Their registration process is done on ipads, which was pretty neat. His dental assistants were really friendly and helpful. Dr Edgar explained the procedure thoroughly and answered all my questions, including addressing several questions about dental anxiety. I was scheduled for the root canal a few days later and the process was virtually painless. I didn't think I'd be able to get a root canal without nitrous but Dr Edgar doesn't use it. Instead, I used oral sedation that worked out perfectly. About a week later, I was having some pain with biting. I called his office and they were booked up but were able to schedule me in to be seen right away. If you need a root canal, I'd try Dr Edgar. The office is nice. The staff were friendly and very professional. I was really impressed with Dr Edgar. I wish he could be my regular dentist! read more

Highly skilled and equipped with all the equipment needed to make a root canal as pain-free and effective as you could find in Portland. Here is one example: My lower molar was not numbing up completely with traditional anesthetic. I braced myself for PAIN and he whips out a brand new bone numbing tool and seconds later (and no injection pain) I am completely numb.
