He took one look at my problem and said "Yeah, I think I can fix this... give me a minute"... then about 20 minutes later he had me saying "Oh my God I cannot believe you just fixed that!" I was in and out in about 40 minutes. My trip was saved! Not only is John an incredibly able craftsman, but he is also a really nice person. He had me bring the piece by and he showed real interest in it. His knowledge was so helpful and he also gave me a lot of tips on refinishing it, should I decide to. John knows tons of people in the industry, which is very helpful. I came back a day later and he had gone above and beyond welding the loose pieces. He had found about 5 other weak spots and fixed them. Pfunder Metalwerks is the best - I would look no further for excellence in welding. Made the appointment, Chris arrived, listened to our concerns, saw our needs. Took his initial measurements, a few days later we received Onspots bid. Chris let us know it might take as long as 4 to 6 months. We'd already been in the home 38 years, what's a few more months for something we need. Chris came back for a second measurement (measure twice, cut once), then one additional time to to select the handrail style, end cap (whatever it's called) and primer color. He was going to meet me at the job site on a weekend but end up rescheduling because he wasn't feeling well. However, he did go on his own later during the week and gave me a written estimate. We mainly corresponded via text and spoke a few times on the phone. When I texted him to ask how the new guard rail will look, he texted me a couple pictures of sample rails. It looks like other people here have had a better experience, so perhaps our handrail project is too small or not enough profit. Several of the welders in the area have been pretty flaky, so perhaps there is a shortage - Sanchez Iron Works is the only one to follow through with a final quote out of 4 people I talked to about our project. I hate to knock any small business, but feel I need to be honest about my experience to help other people trying to get projects done.
