Disappointing experience overall…read more Verbal bid was given of 10k to 11k for the job over a FaceTime phone call as the project was explained. I politely asked if he could please try to keep it near the 10k. Written bid came in over 11k. (11,700$) Discussed that the bracing for the large metal stairs should probably be secured by something more than anchoring into stucco. To add proper supports the bid goes up again to over 12k. (12,800$) I would have liked a more professional experience where pricing didn't keep changing and for Christian to take the lead on making the stairs braced correctly and safely from jump. He kept saying this is simple we don't need to discuss the job so much. Also I had originally texted him to FaceTime me when he was onsite. He was on time but didn't respond to my texts. Had to wait 20 minutes for a response. He already left the job. Had to drive back to the job to be able to Facetime me. It is a large job that involves a lot of safety concerns. Was really looking for more professionalism to have the job bid correctly from the beginning and the scope of the job to be discussed throughly on time to get it created safely.

I had a pretty quick turn around request that they were able to meet and I ended up with my custom 4x4 to 4x6 post adapter. It came out better than I expected. I wouldn't hesitate sending work their way.

Today I took Dustin the neck rod out of my sister's beloved stuffed giraffe. A child had hung on the giraff's neck and broken the joint. Dustin welded a sleeve onto the neck rod and it fit over the broken stub inside the neck as if it were made for it. Perfect fix again. Thanks, Dustin! p.s. I live in Santa Rosa and drove to Fairfield for this. That's how much I trust Dustin's work and ingenuity. Seriously, anything to do with metal, this guy knows his stuff.

If you're looking for welding or similar metalwork, your search is over. Go here…read more I recently bought an old steel bike frame with a very poor repair to one of the joints: there was barely any metal holding the joint together, and there was a hole melted in one of the tubes. I was concerned that it'd be hard to get the joint properly repaired, and/or prohibitively expensive. I stopped by Custom Metal Manufacturing around opening time. The workshop is a treasure trove: minibikes, custom signs, and sculptures everywhere. Ed and Gerard were super friendly and great storytellers. Ed looked at the frame, said "I can fix that", and fired up his welding gear right away. Ten minutes of good conversation later the work was done, and at a very reasonable price. The joint is now reinforced with ample steel, and the hole is closed up. Everything I hoped for and more.

I kept 'shopping', and found Contra Costa Metal Fabricators accommodating, fairly priced. From the beginning of getting a quote, Daly City iron responded to my inquiries quickly. Their office ALWAYS picks up the phone or replies back to my email within the same day. Installation was even earlier than they projected. Felipe physically came out to my location 4 times BEFORE the install to measure and ensure the design fit our door frame. The care and detail-orientation here is amazing. He had great insights and selections when it came to the design and installation. Due to a couple small miscommunications, we had to change the paint color and remove a safety feature and the team made both changes WITHIN A DAY. Just absolutely incredible experience. The quote I received was also way more in line with what we were hoping to pay vs some other vendors. Highly highly recommend Felipe and his team.

The not so good?!?! Older fella came out and he didn't seem too happy to be here. He also had a hard time conveying any design ideas and requirements clearly. He had Hispanic accent which I am no stranger too. (I've worked and managed hundreds of Hispanic folk over the years) We finally came to some design and construction details but I felt like I was given a take it or leave it handrail solution. He didn't offer any other constructive solutions unlike another company I was also trying to get a quote from He did throw a price out there before leaving. So with that rough start I decided not to work any further with them. Too bad Oh well. I give them 3 stars for just not putting the best foot forward?
