I paid Simpson Sheet Metal $40k for two minisplit systems, and they helped with Sonoma Clean Power rebates. The second system had a power failure, and they deflected blame to my electrician, who eventually found a loose wire in Simpson's own equipment that caused the problem and cost $500 to diagnose. I advised Simpson it was their mistake, but they have not made an apology or response. Good job overall, but poor accountability and customer service. Today I repeated to John that my review was all true. I submitted the invoice to SCP for a SCP rebate. Simpson was not involved beyond giving me the invoice. John did not apologize for accusing my electrician for Simpson's faulty shutoff box. I was speaking calmly to John, but he hung up on me. read more

Simpson installed a second HVAC unit in my home for the prior owner. Installation included incomplete intake ducting that pulls in air from the attic instead of conditioned space being serviced!. Last August we got a new furnace 95% efficient model. We got a carrier and were able to finance it with zero interest for 12 months which made the price manageable. We relocated the furnace to the attic. Which free'd up a ton of space in our laundry room. To say I'm pleased with the results would be an understatement. Our heat and air has never worked better!! Our installer was Leo, he and his apprentice killed it on our job!!!! John the manager came out a couple of times to estimate and review our job. John ensured our permits and rebates were all properly taken care of. And the whole project flowed smoothly. Upon the completion I had a few things that I wasn't pleased with. And they came back a few times to clear up / fix my concerns. I'm not the easiest customer to deal with when it comes to these kinds of things. I have OCD and I want things 100% perfect. Less than one star if I could! All union shop?? Your install of a new HVAC system lasted three years! A bit too much plumbers putty on the gas fitting nearest the gas shut off valve and "no heat"! The warranty is only honored when you do the repair. Guess you don't care how long the customer has to wait, in the cold! Just put off the warranty work as long as you can! I wouldn't let you idiots change a furnace filter after what I've been through! read more

After the terrible 2-week heat wave in September we knew we could no longer use the excuse of nature's AC; so we decided to look into having AC installed in our home. With all the supply chain issues I figured if we called in September, we might have it installed before next summer. I called only Simpson as they installed our Carrier gas furnace 8 years ago and we have had no problems with it. Jonatan came out promptly and patiently listened to my requests for three separate estimates; adding AC to the existing gas furnace, installing heat pump hybrid or installing all new electric heat/AC unit. Within days the three estimates arrived. After we mulled over the pros and cons we decided on the hybrid heat pump unit. Jonatan quickly followed up notifying us that there was a backorder on the unit, and kept us advised of the progress. Within a couple weeks, we'd set a date for installation. The installation and conversion took place seamlessly and promptly. All of the guys who work for Simpson were kind, gracious, efficient, and patient with my questions. Bernie and I handled the ethernet switch and wifi setup seamlessly. And we were up and running by the end of yet another hot day. Start to finish, this was the BEST home improvement experience we've had locally. In late May we decided to get an estimate to put air conditioning in our home. By June 9, the equipment was installed! The bid was comprehensive and included the permits, equipment, installation and required CA testing. No surprises or add-ons. They didn't try to oversell. The staff was professional, on time, and a pleasure to deal with. When the grille for the newly installed air return didn't match the grille on the existing one, the team noticed immediately and offered to replace the existing one with one that matched. Since it was an unusual size they had to special order and return to install. I hope that we won't need any HVAC work in the near future, but if we did, we wouldn't hesitate to call them. We are very pleased we decided to go with Simpson HVAC for our new system. We had a new furnace, A/C and ducting put in the attic and they coordinated for all the old equipment and ducting under the house to be removed. For any heat pump installation (mini-splits, whole house heating/cooling, etc) consider the team from Simpson Sheet Metal. There is a difference between professionals and the others. I've worked on construction sites from Cincinnati in the east to Del Webb's Kuilima Resort on the windward side of Oahu in the west. Our home project with Simpson Sheet Metal easily matched the highest level of workmanship and coordination that I've encountered anywhere. I replaced my natural gas furnace with a heat pump system. After a thorough search of options on new heat pump systems, I chose the Carrier Infinity system for it's great efficiency rating. The experience I had with Simpson Sheet Metal was amazing in getting our Mitsubishi ducted mini-split HVAC (to replace our wall furnace & wall shaker A/C) installed last week! This week was the first real test of the A/C performance and I'm thrilled to say the system performed flawlessly and easily kept our home at a max 71 degrees while the outside was a 95+ degree sauna! One fear I had beforehand in adding HVAC was noise pollution, and this system is whisper quiet inside and barely audible outside! In particular every employee I directly worked with was top notch. John was wonderful through the quoting process despite me being a difficult prospective customer. As an engineer by trade, I put about 80 hours of research into this before reaching out to Simpson and John happily answered all of my technical questions and concerns. On the install side, Jeromie and Bernie were awesome, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. In particular I appreciated that they handled things like moving furniture out of the way and removing picture frames, dust/debris control, etc...I had taken off work the first day of install assuming I would be responsible for that part and then I ended up with a bonus/easy day off which was a pleasant surprise!  The reason I chose Simpson is during my HVAC research process I settled on the Mitsubishi system (the highest quality system on the market), and when I saw Simpson's Diamond Preferred Status in addition to being on the Press Democrat's "Best of 2019" list I figured I was in good hands. Of course I wanted a lower price, but after seeing the quality of materials and workmanship I am comforted to know we have a quality high performance system instead of a cheap system or one with inferior workmanship or less skilled/experienced installers (HVAC install work is so tedious, experienced/trained installers are critical!). The quality of materials was evident and in no place did I see cutting corners...from the sound dampening built into the return or the better R8 ducts, everywhere I looked I saw "the good stuff" being used and installed in the highest quality way. Installed the heating & A/C system in my relatively new house. The air intake for the system is a large, odd sized rectangle. Can't find air filters in the size at any Home Depot, Lowe's etc. Only Simpson carries the size air filter. And the price is premium. But the staff are always friendly and helpful. I had a crew come to my house to balance the internal ducts for more even flow through the house. The crew arrived on time, did the job pronto. When I ran our furnace during the smokey filled bad air days from the "Camp Fire" the venting seemed to pull some of the smoke inside. Since we purchased our furnace from Simpson Sheet Metal, I called for some advice on what to do to minimize this problem. Positive Experience All Around. After installing roof-top solar, we made the commitment to change out our 30+ year old propane heater for a clean-energy heat pump. Living in the country, we were fortunate to get bids from several HVAC companies. John Roncone of Simpson Sheet Metal gave us an estimate after we had received some proposals from other companies with eye-popping costs. He investigated our existing duct work and system as the others had. He felt that our duct work, while not modern, would work, and we could change it later if we felt a need. The estimate we got a day later, just before Thanksgiving, was considerably lower than other estimates for similar systems. A rebate from the sheet metal union was a plus. We chose the Simpson proposal and their great crew of workers: Bernie, Nate and Ryan (electrician) came the next Thursday to remove the old and install the new system. They were jovial with each other and pleasant and informative in their interactions with my husband and me. Equipment under the house and outside were set up efficiently and cleanly by midafternoon. The lights and outlets Ryan installed in the crawl space helped the crew and will aid future maintenance. Our new Mitsubishi heat pump warms our coastal house well, although we need a bit of patience on those mornings below 40 degrees. Simpson contracts with Archon Energy for the permitting, Title 24 HERS test, and final system inspection from Marin County. That all went smoothly. Tried calling them 2 weeks ago and left a voicemail regarding needing a new chimney cap (small job) never received a call back. Tried calling again today and told the girl who answered the phone about never receiving a call back. She said the person I needed to talk to was out of the office for the moment but would call me back when he returned. Never received a call back. Poor customer service. I realize everyone is short staffed and are busy but providing good customer service (returning calls) is important if you want good reviews and future business. Being a business owner myself I know how important customers are. Even if we can't provide service to customers that call, we still get right back to them so they can move on to the next company that can provide the service they need. Excellent service from my phone call through the invoice. I called for a furnace check up and asked about duct cleaning. Though they don't offer that service they were quick with a recommendation and phone number. The tech notion (Emilio, I believe) was very kind and professional. Asked if I had questions and described in detail the tasks he was going to perform. He asked how often I changed the air filters, about the carbon monoxide detector and recommended a second detector due to our multi level house. The service was within the 1 1/2 hour time window given during my initial call and his checkup was done within the timeframe given.
