Hulbert had our furnace up and running in no time. I also didn't feel like I was getting any pressure to buy a new one. Very positive experience. read more

If I could give this company 10 stars, I would. Doug replaced my furnace system a couple years ago, and I was delighted with the furnace, his recommendations for what I needed for my house, and the quality of work for the installation. It was a difficult site, and other companies were reluctant to install, but he did it with ease, good humor, and with great efficiency. On another occasion, I wrote to him about another furnace issue and he was responsive and gave me detailed advice, even redirecting me from paying him for a service he felt wouldn't actually solve my problem. In this day and age, when finding high quality and ETHICAL, RESPONSIVE and PERSONAL service is so rare, this company stands high above the rest. read more

Another 5-star review! I was desperate for a furnace replacement upon purchasing a house and these guys were super-heroes! They got someone out right away to walk me through my options and provide a quote, and then squeezed me into their schedule as I was completely without heat. Based upon anecdotal research I am satisfied I got more than a fair price. The installation was efficient and thorough, and they probably left the space cleaner than when they found it. I am so glad I trusted them for the job! read more

Hulbert replaced my furnace and AC, did a great job with highly skilled and professional craftsmanship. Jarret, Cody, Drew and Danny performed as a team with proficiency and multiple skills. Kept me apprised of their progress and explained installation and functional details. Couldn't be more pleased with it all. Kyle presented the ideal equipment for my needs and offered a good deal. Hulbert deserves 5 stars! read more

They replaced our furnace a few weeks ago. Prior to the service, they were responsive, helpful and timely. They arrived exactly on schedule, replaced the furnace, explained its functions and left the space at least as tidy as when they arrived. Kudos for service quality, reasonable prices and great communication read more

They responded quickly and took care of my tenants furnace replacement promptly at a fair price.

After having an air duct cleaner come to assess our system, it was clear we needed to update our under-house ducting. I get 5 quotes, all from reputable companies. The prices ranged from $5k to $7k for the same quality duct system. We went with Hulbert who had the lowest quote. They were also able to squeeze us in prior to Christmas which was important to us. They were communicative, prompt, professional. They sent our a team of 4 service people, on time, and 3 trucks. They were done in 5 hours, left the areas clean, oriented us to the system. Their work was permited and comes with a HERS energy rating test. I highly recommend them. read more

Doug, Kyle and their crew did an exceptional job in replacing our 30 year old furnace with a modern Mitsubishi unit with a heat pump. very happy with communication before during and after the install. They really enjoy their work and strive to make the customer happy for sure! We were recommended to them from a friend and I will pass that along to anyone I know that needs their service. read more

Wow!!! I can't say enough about this company! The most friendly and professional crew!! I had to have my furnace and AC unit replaced. They had a difficult job to put in new lines and did such a great job. They patched up my ceiling and cleaned up like nothing happened!! I would highly recommend!!! Doug and his employee Drew were just the best!! Thank you so much. Wait did I mention they came in and took care of it in one day and under the quote?!! What amazing people!! read more

Doug came out to do an inspection on a home we were purchasing. He discovered that the previous (unlicensed) contractor had created a mess under the house and the ducting was incorrectly installed and they had not removed the old asbestos fittings. Doug gave us an estimate that included the environmental clean-up. It was reasonable and he was able to schedule everything for 2 days after closing of escrow. The job is now completed. The two crews (one environmental, one HVAC) came on consecutive days, completed the work with no complaints from the neighbors, and we now have a safe environment and brand new ductwork. Recommend Hulbert Heating and Air Conditioning 100%! Reliable, trustworthy, efficient, reasonable. My four favorite things! Thanks, Doug! You're awesome! read more

Hulbert saved me literally thousands of dollars with their honest assessment of my heating problem. I have a personal rule that I always get three bids. The first two contractors didn't even inspect the entire duct system under the house, Hulbert did. They gave me a really fair price, did the repair and follow up trouble shooting and recommended that PG&E replace the very old gas meter. Problem solved. They are capable, honest, reliable and great communicators. I can't recommend them highly enough! read more

Doug is amazing!! He put in an AC unit about 2 years ago in our house. Today it wasn't turning on and I did all the troubleshooting in the manual. Still wasn't working so I called Doug. He came out today (same day) and got it up and running. He also explained a couple things that I could do next time if it happened again. Great great customer service and just an amazing local small business that I am happy to support!! read more

I'm not a review writer in general but the Hulbert crew was fantastic. I had seven bids to replace my furnace and A/C units as well as the ducts. I chose them because of the recommendation of a contractor friend and the competitive nature of their bid. The scheduling was easy and the site inspection prior to the installation day was instrumental in working out some little details. On the installation day, they arrived on time and went to work. They even brought their own work tables. The demo of the old units took most of the first day but by end of the next day I was back to having heat in the house. They had to remove all the old duct work from under the house and I was impressed with the way they separated the insulation and the wires and made very compact packages for disposal. They cleaned up everything. Such a pleasant and knowledgeable team - each with years of experience. Thank you. TerryT read more

Doug is a wonder and an exception, in a world where poor work and bad interactions have become the norm. My heater in my home in Mill Valley decided to Gove up the ghost on a cold January day. My buddy uses Hulbert HVAC and said give Doug a call. Doug could not have been nicer or more informative. Doug asked a few questions about the furnace and what it was or wasn't doing. Based on the age and the behavior of the unit, he offered two options. He said he would take a look at the unit, as well as the condition. He said that he might be able to fix it, but because of the age, it might fail anyway, wasting time and money. He did come to Mill Valley to take a look, and said the more realistic option would be to replace it. He showed me video of the condition of the unit. Once it was decided to replace the furnace, Doug sourced the new furnace and set up a time to replace it. Doug was on time with his son. They both could not have been nicer or more professional. Conclusion: Two hours later they were done, with them making sure I new how to use the new thermostat. I only would use Hulbert for any of my HVAC needs. He was awesome. Mitch B. Doug and his son to the rescue! We had an AC unit installed 2 years ago by them and it was done beautifully. Yesterday it went out during a 102* heat wave. I called first thing in the morning and they came out by 10am same day and fixed it at no charge. Said it was under warranty. I am so thankfully for quality and reliable companies and a cooler house today. Thank you thank you thank you! read more

Let me start by saying that this is the first time that I have written a review, positive or negative, for ANY contractor. Let's just say I have had my fill...enough said. That is why I felt compelled to give Doug and his crew the kudos they deserve! Last December, I met with Doug to discuss replacing my furnace and adding air conditioning. During our meeting, we discussed installing a heat pump, which is both a furnace and an air conditioner. Doug suggested that we install a Fujitsu heat pump. After examining our existing ducts, Doug said with a few minor upgrades to the ducts and installing a bigger air flow return the heat pump would be the way to go. They were energy efficient, quite, worked very well as both a furnace and an air conditioner, and (drum roll) he could install it for considerable less than the conventional furnace / air condition combination. Additionally, it was compatible to work with our solar panel system. I was somewhat skeptical, but Doug was recommended to me by a friend, so I agreed. Doug and his crew showed up on time as scheduled and completed the duct work and installation all in one day. The price of the project was $6,000.00 LESS than other HVAC companies quotes to install the conventional furnace and AC combo. The heat pump worked like a charm throughout the winter. I waited until today to write this review because I wanted wait and see to how the heat pump stood up to the extreme heat. Brilliant! My house remained at a comfortable 68 degrees over the past two days. Thanks Doug, John Murphy Novato read more

I love these guys! Doug is totally a professional. What a great guy, especially for someone who wants to understand everything! I called PG&E after the blackouts to check my heater. The serviceman came out and told me what needed to be repaired. I called at least a half a dozen havoc companies and no one was willing to quote me for the work without my paying for someone to give me an estimate. I caught Doug on the phone and he came right out. Did the fix and it is warm here again! Thank you so much for being easy and fun on top of that!! read more

I cannot recommend this company high enough!!! I contacted my home warranty company as soon as my heater went out. They contacted another company which not only took a week to come out but had deplorable customer service - then spent about 20 minutes and left without fixing it!!! My warranty company contacted Hulbert as an emergency 2nd opinion. Jeff came out same day, diagnosed the problem, came up with a plan, and promised me he'd be back 1st thing in the morning to do the work. True to his word, Jeff was back at my house by 8:45am and I had heat by 10:30!!!!! Reliable, professional, courteous, considerate, reasonable, etc., etc. If you need heating or air conditioning work, call these people first. You will save yourself a bundle of frustration, time and money!!!!! read more

I was really impressed with Jeff's service. I called the warranty company for our furnace at 7 AM, and within a couple of hours i had a technician readily available. I had to schedule for later in the day, and he met the time within 15 minutes, which is great because he had 3 jobs before mine. He was able to diagnose and fix the furnace in about 2 hours. Not only did he replace the failing part, but he also cleaned out all of the vents! Very efficient and awesome response time, with a friendly tech read more

Great experience with Doug Hulbert and his crew. They did a great job with our Mini Split System install. Fast, Efficient and Clean. Highly recommend! read more

Doug and his crew installed an AC unit for my family nearly 15 years ago, and he remembered details of the job all these years later. I remembered how happy my wife was once we had that thing running, as she was initially adverse to the investment. So when it was time to replace the 32 year-old furnace and rodent-compromised duct work in our current home, Doug was one of three bids I received. His attention to the specifics of my particular set up, as reflected in his bid, showed a certain expertise that I appreciated. Not a one-size-fits-all perspective. For a reasonable cost he offered to set up the system in case I wanted to add zone heating at a future date (separate wireless thermostat for upstairs, with dampers that direct flow to specific parts of the home). Since it would cost incrementally more to have him come back to do it later, I just ordered the whole enchilada. Glad I did...no longer am I heating/cooling half the house when no one is using that half! If you are going to invest in a new system, and have a two-story house, add zoning. As for his crew, foreman Dan and his crew were courteous, communicative, and efficient, and left the job site clean and organized (that's a big one for me, and says a lot about their work ethic). read more

Hulbert Heating & Air Conditioning - New Bryant 2-stage furnace with 86k BTU and 96% efficiency. - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Cotati, California

Hulbert heating and air installed an air conditioner in her house. They came by and gave her a quote for the work. It was reasonably priced and Doug was very professional. My grandma is a bit of a worrier about things she doesn't understand and during the installation she started to ask If things needed to be fixed or replaced (especially her water heater for some strange reason). Anyways, long story short they assured her everything else was in good working order and there would be no benefit to her if she were to replace the water heater. Super honest and fair. I would recommend them to everyone who could use their services. read more

Same day service... House was freezing and new thermostat didn't help. Doug came out and cleans out spider webs in my furnace pipes and voilá, Heat! Kinda funny really. I loved everything about working with Doug and team. They're smart, knowledgeable, honest, helpful, down to earth, and completely trustworthy. They made a potentially complicated situation with code challenges (that they inherited--and that included a new city inspector) simple and affordable. Reasonably priced, very quick installation, and SUPER nice guys! Very happy with our new AC and their service!

Doug and his team did a great job installing a ductless, wall mounted heating and cooling system in our 3 level water tower. Great overall service at a reasonable price. Thank you Doug and Danny. read more

After fighting with the warranty company to finally get someone to come out days before Christmas, these guys came in early in the day, diagnosed the issue, swapped out the faulty circuit board in the attic heating unit and were out in extremely fast order. As first time homeowners, and fairly naive to many of the first big projects- we literally interviewed 5 companies for our new furnace system (crazy, I know!). From the moment we met Doug, my husband and I had full confidence that Doug and his crew would do an incredible job and they did! He took the time to walk us through every selection and understand the 'ins and outs' of it all. He went way above and beyond to help us get the best deal on the top product, and get the system put in before winter. His team was thorough, quick, and clean. Without a doubt, we will continue telling everyone we know to hire Doug and his team!! Thank you, thank you!!! read more

After having Moore come out to do a tune up and inspection, per a Home Depot deal, they told me the unit wasn't working. The rep gave me a quote to replace what they said was a seized compressor on my a/c unit I called Doug for a quote for the same thing. He came out the next day and told me there was nothing wrong with the unit and that it was running fine. He was very honest, he could easily have confirmed Moore's findings and I would have used him to repair it. Honest, ethical, competent. That's as good as it gets in business read more

Doug Hulbert and his team are the best. Doug is fair, honest and true to his word. If you need HVAC, you need look no further than Doug. We had one HVAC company red tag our 15 year old heater, make us use space heaters in January and try to sell us a $15,000 heater. Doug came over, inspected the units and floor vents, made a few adjustments and the system worked for many years after. We later .over to an older house and Dour installed new heat and air, dual zone as and registers at an incredible price. He is a man of integrity and will treat you well. read more

Doug installed a gas furnace in our 1883 farmhouse, which had previously been electric. Since the installation was in summer, we didn't realize we had some heating issues due to the configuration of an older switchboard. After we got estimates from three other companies we selected Hulbert. We are so glad we did! Best price, great equipment, friendly and professional installers. We received our estimate from the president, not a slick salesperson. We were given options, not pushed to buy up. The work was scheduled a few days after we called. Four gentlemen showed up, shook hands and introduced themselves. They had the furnace and the air conditioner installed and the inspector here all within one day, cleaned up and were careful in our yard.
