Our HVAC system was close to 30 years old and badly in need of repair. We received quotes from a number of businesses, but Severson Heating & Cooling was far and away the best price and most transparent. Over the course of a couple days, with our business open, they completed all the work in a timely and professional manner. John, Chris, Seth and Dylan were superb in every way! I highly recommend them for any of your needs if you are in Sonoma or Napa County. Thank you! read more

We had an old furnace that was on it's last legs. It would boom periodically and finally made so much noise I was afraid it would explode so we turned it off. We called Severson's because I knew they were professional and been here a long time. They gave us a quote to fix the furnace but couldn't guarantee how much longer it would last. We decided to have a new furnace installed. They came with this shiny new furnace. While checking our ducts they found out little critters had made a play ground under our house! Ducts collapsing with chewed holes everywhere! YIKES! The technician cleaned and hauled out all of the old stuff. Then properly installed the new ducts and insulation. Our furnace now runs smooth and quietly! The heat is regulated perfectly! THANK YOU TEAM SEVERSON! read more

Seversen Air installed two furnaces in my historic home in Petaluma many years ago, and the units have functioned perfectly for decades. After a long run, they needed to be replaced. I spoke with Dylan about replacements, and he patiently worked with me to explain my options. His knowledge of the HVAC industry is extensive and his scrupulous assessment of my needs was thorough. His estimate for replacement was all inclusive and offered options. I have also worked with Jeremy who services the units and Nicole who is the receptionist. Both of them are thoughtful professionals and a delight to work with. All-in-all my experiences with Severson Heating and Cooling has been sterling. read more

Severson's responded to a nighttime repair around Christmas. They kept the heater running while the part was on its way. They made the correct repair, and I'm pleased with their services. I would highly recommend Seversons for an honest and complete service. read more

Furnace issues are no fun. It took 3 visits and a bit of troubleshooting to resolve the issue of my furnace that had been overheating and shutting off. I am pleased to say they did it and I paid for a new motor vs an entirely new system. Thank you Dylan and crew for resolving the 2-year issue that just kept getting worse! -Robin/Sonoma read more

Called them when our AC stopped cooling. Technician came out and said that we had lost Freon, which could only be caused by a leak in our aging system. He added Freon and injected some sort of sealant into the system. He never actually tried to find the leak. This service cost over $800.00 After about a week the system stopped cooling again. I called and the same technician came out. This time he tried to find the leak with an instrument. Couldn't find the leak. He again added Freon and another injection of sealant. He explained that given the age of our unit we most likely needed to install a new unit. I asked for an estimate for the new unit. I've not heard from them since. In the meantime I found another company and they came. They did find a small leak but concluded that there had to be a much larger leak in the system given that I lost so much Freon in just a week. I asked them for an estimate on a new unit. He worked up a written estimate on the spot. I still haven't seen anything from Severson. read more

My elderly Dad had his AC unit go out in a killer heat wave. Seth from Severson came out within an hour of my call and had the AC running to cool down the house, which had already climbed to 95 degrees. Seversons probably saved my Dad's life since the elderly are susceptible to heat. Thank you Severson for a job well done and such speedy service!!! read more

Severson installed brand new furnace and ducting in my new house. The job was well done, thorough, and the house stays very warm at a low temperature. They came when they said, finished when they said and the price was fantastic. This is my third house with Severson. I'm a lifetime satisfied customer. As I said in my previous post, Seth the owner, stands by his work. read more

Seth Severson and his team are professional, competent and efficient. I HIGHLY recommend them. Our furnace went out during winter of 2016. Seth came out to repair our furnace. It became clear that our 1989 unit was on it's last legs. At my request, Seth created a quote for both a new furnace as well as central air conditioning. His prices were fair, and I agreed to his proposal. The first thing he did was to waive his $170 repair bill on the old unit; I knew right then that I was dealing with a man that had integrity, and that wanted long term customer satisfaction! Seth's team arrived, and worked diligently on all aspects of our project, including installing new Nest thermostats, helping to improve airflow , etc. They were professional, courteous, clean and thorough. All work was done to code. I am COMPLETELY satisfied with them, and would endorse them for any Heating and Cooling project. read more

Finally got viable help after two calls and two texts and talked to a nice admin person who called back a few times to get he info and schedule. Person coming out was very helpful and answered my questions about strategies about anything needing replacement or repair or getting a new one. The person didn't recommend spending a lot (about $4500) to add a/c to the furnace. They clean furnace ducts, but the mention was I could do the same thing (I'd save current est of $500 for my 1200sf home). The activity done was taking the furnace fan out, cleaning the blades, (unbeknownst) blowing the motor out with Co2, wiping the fan bay, and (carefully) vacuuming the side filters. The charge was for 1.5 hours (min 1 hr, then .5 hr) that totaled $186 and $15 plus $5.95 shipping and $1.76 tax for the Co2 (never saw a can). If I hadn't done any consulting (I thought was free), the work should have been easily done in 30 to 40 mins. Thought I was only going to need to pay $125 for the first hour. :p. The person said estimates are free and if I bought one they would install it. Update: I called Severson about the billing for time issue and the admin forwarded the message to the person who came out and I received a call 2 or 3 hours later. They said that I was being charged from the time of arrival to the time leaving, which I was never told. When I mentioned I wasn't told that the asking about getting replacement or new systems wasn't free (as I had perceived) there was no budging about the matter. read more

Owner came out to do an estimate for a new system as I didn't want to go through another heat wave with no ac, and I never heard from them again. This was back in June. I'm only now having time to do this review. I called exactly 3 times to get a status in about a month and a half time range, and the 1st two times the secretary said she would look it up and send me an email with the estimate. The 3rd time a different woman said she could find no record of me, and offered to have him come back to do another estimate. Really? How can I trust to have a big job like this done when I can't get a simple estimate? I gave 2 stars instead of one because they were very nice and wanted to fix what happened but it really irritated me. I haven't had a chance to call anyone else yet but I wanted feedback from others before proceeding so my time wouldn't be wasted again. read more

A/C went out Saturday, late afternoon. This was the only company I called out of seven that a person answered. They had an appt for Monday, 11a. Jeremy arrived 15 minutes early! Polite, patient and efficient! And affordable!! He had it up and running within the hour and gave me tips on maintaining and operation(like don't turn A/C below 72 degrees!) . Very impressed. Thank you Jeremy! read more

Make sure you have your checkbook handy....estimates aren't free. The minute tools come out....regardless of what gets done...you will be billed. We had some really bad work done....fast....sloppy and expensive. Not sure why i paid...$600 for a ac estimate and small portable hook up. No return phone when i called to complain. Very dissatisfied. Would NOT recommend. Royal rip off. My bad read more

So lucky to have this company recommended to me by neighbors. My AC went out following a power outage (during a really scary heat wave over Labor Day weekend). I'd done all the easy things like checking circuits and changing fuses. So I called Severson this morning and their technician, Jeremy, was at my house within 4 hours. He quickly fixed the problem, cleaned up my unit, and was gone within 30 minutes. I am so happy with the service, and grateful for the quick response. read more

I called Severson when my home A/C crapped out, after I traced the problem to a burned wired in an outside "disconnect box." Severson dispatched two craftspersons, who concluded that the problem was that the box was improper and poorly installed by the builder, 6 years ago, and simply needed replacement with the correct box. When the job was finished, I offered to pay, but the lead craftsperson said a bill would be sent, mentioning "one hour", though I did observe that they had been on premises about 70 minutes. When the bill arrived, it cited two men, x 1.5 hours (OK, there's travel time -- their office is 12 minutes away, by Google maps) x $98/hr, but listed $150 for the box and about 6' of individual-conductor wire! Astonished, I did some research on the Internet, and was astounded to find that the box, DPF222RP, was cited at no more than $25 including shipping. Not believing we could be talking about the same item, I went to the local hardware store (to where, I believe, the craftsperson (not having the box on his truck) left the premises to get one) had it for around $15. I called to challenge the $150 figure but only the receptionist was available, and a few days later she called back and cited a revised figure of $60.95, without explanation -- still outrageous, but I chose to pay it, unhappily. The work was done skillfully and quickly, but I am unhappy with the heavy-thumb pricing, and will not use the firm again. read more

I do not recommend this company to anyone because of the hell I went through with them. The heater in my Tenant's condo broke down last December 2010 and I asked them to call for service. Severson came and said they replaced a transformer and charged me $231 which I paid in Jan 2011. Come Jan/Feb, the heater was not working again, so I called them to check what went wrong and if there is a warranty for the work they just did. They said it depends on what is wrong. They charged me again for $281 for an unauthorized installation of another transformer and sent me an additional estimate for $661 to replace the wiring that is bad. In the meanwhile, the heater was not working. The tenant still did not have heat and temporarily used a portable heater. I questioned the bill and did not want to go on with the $661 estimate because I felt it will be never ending repair costing $231, $281 and $661 and not sure what the next repair bill would be and asked them what is really wrong with the heater because it appears with what they are charging me would add up to, I would be better with replacing it. They said they would call me back after they talk to the guy who repaired it. On June 29 at 10pm I get a call from them telling me they will put me in collection if I do not pay them the $281. I said they never got to fix it, and I let 2 other companies come and let me know what was wrong and they ended up fixing it for me. Both companies said that there was nothing wrong with the wiring and it looked like it was tampered and disconnected intentionally. Hmmm. I wonder why Severson Heating said I need to replace my wiring for $661 when 2 other HVAC technicians told me the wire was disconnected. I told Vera, the rude woman who called me at 10pm that I was in a teleconference meeting and would like to talk to her during normal business hours after my tenants come back from vacation July 10 and I ask them for the transformer to return to Severson. She accused me of lying and that I was not on a conference call and that my tenants are not on vacation and that I have to return the transformer. After I told her, ok I will return your transformer, then she said that I cannot return it after my tenants have used it to heat up their place for 6 months. First of all, where is my old original transformer and the transformer they replaced it with that I already paid for? I have the transformer to return to them. I will be filing a complaint against this company with the Better Business Bureau for their unscrupulous way of dealing with customers and telling me that they will put me through collections. They overcharged me, want to overcharge me again and fix something that was not broken before, sold me two overpriced transformers that did not work. I feel like they are shoving it in my throat and destroy my credit if I do not pay them for a non-working product they installed and gladly return to them. Do not be victimized by this Severson HVAC in Sonoma, call Accel instead for honest and dependable service. read more

I haven't even used this company yet but I'm reviewing it based on the conversation I just had with the lady who answers the phone. I made/canceled an appointment for a duct inspection because my brother said he would look at it first. When I called to cancel, this lady was so nice, giving me a ton of information that would help my brother and making suggestions that would save us some money. I'll be calling back for an appointment to have the furnace inspected, and probably to have some torn duct repaired. I have a strong impression that this company operates with integrity. read more
