A friend of mine recommended I meet with Dr. Steve Hom as my lower back was in sever pain every morning. I had ignored the pain for months, assuming it would just get better. While being treated by Steve, I described some symptoms I had been experiencing for a very long time (stomach pain, bloating, fatigue, etc). He told me what he thought was going on, and suggested having some lab work done. I did the tests and the results came back as he had expected (a bacteria/enzyme imbalance due to chronic use of antibiotics for sinus infections, stress, etc). With his support, guidance, patience and thorough explanation of how best to treat me, I reluctantly decided to do a 5 week cleanse. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Those 5 weeks were tough, but Steve answered all my questions (and I had A LOT) and told me what to expect. For over a year I have seen Steve. He was originally recommended by my previous Chiro, Dr. Aaron Gaily (I'll put the plug for him in here if you ever need an adjustment in Monterey, CA). Steve's operation is different than that of the "adjustment mill" that many chiropractors operate. He is invested in every aspect of his job and every one of his patients. I struggle to even call myself a patient; when I go in to see Steve he spends time with me, gets to know me. We converse about family, work, travel, places to eat, and everything else. I have had back pain off and on for the past 6 years. When it flares up I have a lot of trouble sleeping. I started seeing Dr. Steve about 6 months ago when I started a project to surf every day for a year straight. I have been suffering from DDD and herniated discs for many years and I knew this year was going to have it's way with my back! Seeing Steve regularly has almost completely alleviated my pain - and as a bonus has kept me from getting sick, decreased my allergy symptoms, and has managed to cure pinched nerves, tweaked muscles - you name it - from the stresses of surfing every day with no rest. He also has treated my two young boys, 4 and 6, and they LOVE him! He is gentle and fun and has really helped them from getting sick from virus or allergies. They both had pneumonia when they were younger and it damaged their lungs - giving them Reactive Airway Disease, ending up on the nebulizer with every cold.
