I have been coming here for over 20 years and the service never disappoints. When you literally have to wear contacts and glasses, you want to be comfortable with your surroundings when discussing eye care. The customer service is outstanding.. always has been. I've finally carved out some time to write out this review. I see the reviews below mine are very few and not one a Yelp Elite so you can decide on their authenticity in review. This was my 1st and last time shopping at Sterling. It's really just the same sad story...supporting a black franchised owned business and receiving piss poor service and product. Not all businesses match the statement. However, Sterling does. I only scheduled an eye exam here because I've purchased directly from Dear Emery a few times and was told from a colleague their frames are sold at Sterling too. I needed an eye exam for this benefit year and thought why not get some frames too. The eye exam was quick and the optometrist was older, appeared experienced and nice. I expected this part to be quick because my vision has not changed much in my contacts or eyewear. After the exam, I was escorted to view and try on frames from another staff member, Lynnay (sp?). I shared with her the style and brands I was going for. We checked out Dear Emery but the ones I wanted was sold out. So then we tried on my 2nd choice, Cazal. Cazal is super hard to find in stores in the area because they are exclusive and not many stores have partnership with a distributor for the Germany-based brand. Their frames are very eclectic, edgy and statement pieces. I found one I wanted after trying a few pairs and began my ordering process. I chose the frame and the transition lens. They were very costly even after going through insurance with a balance of around $1200 left. Now this is where my experience went downhill. I received a call a wk later telling me I could come in to pick up new glasses. I arrive and Lynnay took the glasses out the case and told me to try on. I can't make this up y'all. They really tried to give me glasses that were the used/on display glasses with the inside serial number and brand name gone from people trying on. I immediately told her how dare they try to sell me this used frame and new lens. She said well they are clean because they sanitize every pair after try on. Y'all!!! If I wanted Goodwill, China would have went to Goodwill. Fast forward. I was very firm in they either get this mess straight and order new or refund me my money. She jumped on the phone and called her manager Lolita and explained what happened. I did not receive an apology or anything which leads me to believe they sadly do this to customers on a regular. And the customers just don't know SMH. I've worn glasses and contacts for the past 30 yrs and never been sold a used floor frame. Now why would I do that and essentially be paying $1200 for just a lens? I could have somebody on the street make that! I called Lolita the next day to provide feedback on the situation and of course she replied in a passive aggressive way which I expected. Brushing it under the rug, talking over me and so insincere in her tone and response. The "new" and correct glasses finally arrived after an additional 2 wks. I should have expected nothing less. It is in Iverson Mall. The snickerdoodle shop will give you more quality and service than them. Get your luxury glasses elsewhere. Trust me. read more

I've always believed that eyeglasses should go beyond being mere medicine for your eyes and venture into accessory territory (dress up your face!) without covering up your natural beauty. Purchasing a pair of frames shouldn't be a chore; it should be as exciting and as exhilarating as shopping at the mall. Let's face it (pardon the pun), there's something magical about finding that one spot where you known for a fact that you're gonna find exactly what you're looking for. The hard part is just finding it! I admit that I am one of those guys who takes a half century to make a decision, especially with eyewear. I'm wearing plastic frames on my face for 18 hours a day; you'd best believe I'm making sure that I look absolutely dapper. The problem that I have when going to other eyeglass places is the lack of virtues that make my experience...flawed. For one, patience. Ever feel rushed when choosing frames? Do you find yourself settling because you just want to find something and get the heck out of there? Were you happy with your purchase? Me neither. Another virtue, honesty. I'm a typical dandy. I need frames that compliment me without being distracting. I need the employees to be honest with me when I ask: "Does this look fine?" I don't want to hear: "All of them look good on you." It's okay to be real with me. It won't hurt my feelings. It shows that you care and that you're professional about it, too. Those virtues I found at Sterling Optical. Now, let's be truthful: I am gushing over this business because it's the first time I've been treated like family and not like a customer, you know what I mean? I was in that shop for maybe an hour looking for the perfect frames, and the employees were so patient with me, even assisting with making selections. Special shout out to Lewis for his patience ("I'm not going anywhere") and Moreland for his honesty ("Do you want to look basic or do you want to look fabulous?"). The owner is. A. Treasure! Seriously, her professionalism and attitude should be an example for all business owners. She was very welcoming and possessed a wealth of knowledge about what "works." Service was very good and quality of lens also very good. But the pricing is too high. Spent $1400 on a pair of glasses! Will definitely look elsewhere in future for more competitive pricing. Also be careful that the Tysons store does not allow returns or exchanges, unlike other companies. read more

I was really impressed with the customer service both my husband and I received at Sterling Optical on Branch Avenue. Lewis was very knowledgeable and helpful. My husband had a bad experience with having ordered glasses online and the Optometrist was on point with his eye exam and they both assured him they would get his prescription right. Also met the owner who was very pleasant also. Its nice when you're given preferential treatment, we felt special and will only go there from now on. read more

I have had the absolute worst experience ever! I have been trying to find a number to place a complaint and it is non-existant. I got incorrect insurance information from the beginning so my insurance did not cover(I was told it did) The prices are high and they offer no refund If you are mishandled they have your money and there is no recourse. read more

I had the BEST experience EVER at Sterling Optical @ Iverson Mall. The doctor and staff were A-MAAAAZING! Beautiful store and GREAT staff. The eye exam was surprisingly quick and without stress. Also, I was unsure of the style of eyewear that I wanted and was immediately assisted with genuine recommendations based on the shape of my face and my expressed style preference. I went in today to get an annual examination before I have my Lasik touched up. I got there early because I was sure I had to fill out paperwork as a new patient. From the time I walked in until the time I left, I received phenomenal customer service from Lewis and Lolita. This was by far the best service I've received from an establishment in a while. Sterling Optical in Iverson mall is by far the best optical place I've been too in a very long time. Wait time was excellent. Customer service was exceptional. I was referred to them and I'll be honest my first thought was this is going to be terrible. Fooled me. They have a great selection of glasses. The my didn't try to sell me anything unnecessary. In this time of COVID, good customer service can be tough of course. It took a long time to get the glasses done and to charge $25 to send finished glasses in the mail when one is trying to distance themself for safety is absurd and taking advantage of customers for their own selfish benefit is shameful. The package was 5 times the size it had to be and would cost only $8.75 to send like I received. Terrible service and rude employees esp when one is charged almost $500. read more

I recently visited this location. My insurance company referred me. I was very pleased with the level of service received there. The opticians were very knowledgable. They explained every eye glass treatment to me as well as they had a very nice selection of frames. The doctor was professional and caring. I even found out I could finance my glasses without any interest. My glasses were done the same day. They even invited me back for a trunk show. The prices were affordable I highly recommend them. Had an horrible experience. I had an eye exam August 8th was not notified that my contacts was on back order. I was told that it should be there 9/1 and they received a discount on the shipping. I called on 9/2 and was told that I will receive a call back in 20 minutes. I never received a call back. I called again today 9/4 and I was fed up. I was told my contacts will be here 9/8. I then told the rep that im frustrated and I would like a refund. he then told me my contacts were in for my left eye. I asked what can I do with that. He told me he can not give me a refund even if they are at fault. Ive been a pt with sterling optical since I was 16 yrs old and I never experienced bad service. Now that I'm over 40 I didn't want to admit that my vision was getting worse. I've worn glasses since grade 5 and they have always been part of my personality. I went in for an exam only to be told that it's time for progressive lenses. What are those? That is the PC word for bifocal. As long as there was no definitive line on the lens--I would adjust and accept them as a part of growing "wiser". The team @ Sterling helped me transition into my new lenses and frames with black tie customer service. They also suggested that I get the lenses tinted slightly and they were so right. My wife loves them, my family loves them, my co-workers love them. These are my 4th pair of frames and lenses from Sterling since 2013. They have all the latest styles to get you noticed.
