The Director, Assistant Director and all of the teachers are very professional, and they genuinely care for every student that walks through their doors. When the boys wake up on the weekends and become disappointed that they are not going to school, it provides us with such peace of mind knowing that they love their teachers, friends and the overall learning experience that Cadence provides. We also enrolled our son at Cadence since he was 3 months old and he is now almost 4 years old, about to start Pre-K. Ms. Mickie and Ms. Kelly are amazing. They have very high standards for the daycare and always communicate with the parents. I email them and will always receive a response within 24-48 hours, most of the time the day of. As parents, we really appreciate the communication and transparency. The teachers are the best of the best. Most of them have been there decades and they truly love the kids. We love Ms. Monica and Ms. Maria, they treat the kids like their own. It really feels like a family. I cannot rave about them enough. They also send daily updates on the activities, what they ate, and pictures throughout the day. There is Mandarin class every Tuesday, book days, yoga, arts and crafts, STEM learning, etc. We love the school and cannot recommend them enough.

I say all that to say, every terrible piece of childhood lore I have has taken place at Children's Academy. The teachers at the time showed very little regard for the wellbeing of the kids. As a matter of fact (this is just one instance) a kid tried to drown me on a field trip and the teachers unanimously decided I was lying. A kid showed me his nether region--they told me I was lying. I told them they didn't give me any orange slices during snack time when everybody else had them--they said I was lying. If I ever see Ms. Kim or Ms. Tan there will be problems. I mean on the bright side, I took a picture with a pony...although that's when we found out I was allergic but whatever the pic was cute I guess.

Additionally, some of the teachers asked about parents' professions, which felt intrusive and made us uncomfortable. The children were given large amounts of snacks every day, which resulted in our son not eating properly at home. And what they advertised as "computer class" was actually just a group of kids sitting together watching cartoons while the teacher was on her phone. My first impression was that the school was warm, safe, and had it's act together. Every staff member and teacher I met was kind and professional, and everyone seemed genuine. I really thought my twins would have a terrible time transition once they started, because they had pretty severe separation anxiety. However, they literally stopped crying at drop off after just 1 week of attendance, and I saw them smiling and having fun in the pictures sent by the school within the first few weeks. They even would cry about having to leave school when I went to pick them up to go home, and my super shy and suspicious kids were hugging the teachers goodbye within just a couple of weeks. This really speaks volumes to how the teachers and staff really know what they are doing, are engaging and building a relationship with the kids, and that my kids feel safe and are having fun. We've been attending for 4 months now, and my kids love going to school, love their teachers, and I can tell they're learning and getting stimulated everyday. My first impressions of the school and staff are all still the same even after all these months. They also cook their meals onsite, and the snacks and meals are generally healthy: the only better alternative I've seen are Korean daycares. Compared to the other American daycares - big or small - this school's menu has been the healthiest I've seen. Our child has severe allergies, therefore we had to provide extensive documentation from her Allergist notating her allergies. We also had to go through an approval process with Corporate to have her food accommodation approved. This process took 2-3 weeks prior to her even starting the daycare. On day two of my daughter being there Neshia, the Director at the facility, called me to verify what my child was allowed to eat. I thought this was strange since I had to provide comprehensive details on what she was allergic to. I reiterated over the phone what my child wasn't allowed to eat. When I picked up my daughter later in the day I found out that even though I verbally told them her allergies and also provided it in writing, they "mistakenly" served her food she was allergic to. Luckily my child is a picky eater and didn't eat the item, which could have been very dangerous. Fast forward two weeks later, I received a call from Neshia telling me there had been an accident and my child was injured at the daycare. I rushed to the facility only to find out that a bottle was dropped on my child's finger and her fingertip was severed so badly it was literally hanging off, or as the ER doctor called it, "partially amputated." As a parent I was mortified by the blood, the extent of the injury, and my child's pain. My poor toddler had to go through the trama of having her finger reattached and put in a cast. When we were looking at daycares in the area, everyone had a 3-4 month waiting list. The Sunshine House was the only daycare that had 3 toddler class openings. Now I understand why they were the only facility with availability. My daughter didn't even last 3 weeks here. The staff at The Sunshine House are the most inept, incompetent staff I've ever met. I would never recommend this daycare to anyone.
