The…read morelibrary is but a few blocks from its' old location where they had outgrown the older, smaller building. The library is situated in a beautiful park setting. They have everything you can think of from a bookstore, outside seating, copy area, computer room, fireplace with cozy seating to children's area. The personnel are knowledgeable and friendly. We purchased books from the Friends of the Library bookstore as well as browsed books that were lining the many rows of shelves of books. I especially enjoy reading the magazines and newspapers. If you are in the area, stop in, relax and read for a bit.

We decided to stop in because we heard they have tonies box to rent out. The second floor on the right side is a massive children's area. They have tables and chairs. They have a lot of little toy areas that they can play with. They have an imaginary play puppet area too. When you check out, they have a self checkout where you can scann the card and then the items. They have bags to check out too for carrying the books in. You can print a receipt which will tell you when items are due back. I also took a photo just in case. The desks have people working there that are super helpful. They answered so many questions. My husband went to the other side up top and looked at some books while the kids were playing. They also have activities and storytime classes that you can attend. Staff is friendly and the building gets the job done. My only question - why are you locking the drop boxes on days the library is closed? The drop box exists outside of the library so that you can interact with it without having to visit the library. The library being closed should not impact being able to drop off a book in a bin outside the library. What are we doing here? Stop that.

Despite being located right next to the police station there are signs EVERYWHERE warning you to not steal, to beware of thieves, etc... Message delivered Warren, you have sketchy library patrons. The building it is housed in does have a gorgeous entrance with high ceilings and plenty of windows. They have a tiny isle in the back of used books for sale but for this library you need to drive a few miles to visit their Friends of the Library to purchase books, dvd's, puzzles, etc. They did have one motorized scooter, which my mom could utilize. They have nice wide isles for navigating the scooter. There was plenty of comfortable seating. I saw one printer and copier located at the front entrance. They have a free public parking garage for you to use, which is very nice during inclement weather.

I go Tuesdays Thursdays for water areobics and on Fridays with my grand children, the pool staff look out for bullying and there can be alot, but like I said the bullies adults and children are dismissed out of the pool. I…read morevisited the center twice within the last two weeks to get information about swimming lesson registration for my children. Unfortunately, both times the experience was unpleasant. The employees at the front desk were rude, unhelpful, and unfriendly. Today, I waited for around 15 minutes while one employee kept looking at her computer and another was on the phone. Even when I finally asked for assistance, the response and attitude were not welcoming or professional. As a city community center that serves families and residents, I believe staff should be respectful, cooperative, and willing to help people with basic questions. Instead, I left feeling upset and disappointed by how we were treated. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving customer service for families visiting the center.

I'm jealous of everyone who gets to grow up in the Rochester area with this library in their town!…read moreDon't get me wrong, I love love LOVE my local library that I grew up with, and I've definitely visited a ton of libraries throughout my lifetime, but Rochester puts most of those to shame (excluding those truly massive, major city libraries) with the sheer size, volume, organization, technology-forwardness that is contained within these walls, and I love it so much! As an adult living in Rochester, my experience with the library is probably a bit different than it would be as a kid, but I've been working hard to take advantage of all the Rochester has to offer me as much as I can! Naturally, I have a library card and check out books regularly from here. They have a great system of organization of their books in the building, so it's easy to browse my areas of interest (fiction, young adult, romance, etc. - all on the second floor) and their online system for you to check your account and peruse the entire catalog/place holds is also great! It could be a bit more user friendly, but it's overall really intuitive to navigate! I have yet to visit the Bookmobile, which a lot of books I typically want are located in, but placing a hold on books and getting texted when your holds are available for pickup has been so easy. You get to designate where you want to pick up your books and I have mine set to the library's drive thru and it might be my favorite thing that the library has to offer! The drive thru is set up SO nicely. I've come here with random people in my car as well and they always remark on this too as a unique feature that not many libraries have to offer. To pick up books, I'll buzz in to the circulation desk and someone will come to the window to help me, but just to return books, there's an automated slot that opens when you hover a book near it, exposing a conveyor belt for you to place books on to return. The returns are processed basically immediately, so it's truly all so efficient, which I'm absolutely obsessed with! Not to mention, the library is located in such a beautiful area of downtown Rochester. There is a whole pathway that wraps around the back of the library and follows Paint Creek, which you can take into the heart of downtown or all the way to the municipal park. I've walked this path many times, and I always love the portion that passes by the library because the library has put all these informative / interactive signs up and has some seriously beautiful landscaping all around it for people to enjoy. The beautiful surroundings also make the library such an ideal place to STUDY because they have literal floor to ceiling glass windows that you can park yourself at a table in front of that look out into the trees. As an adult, I do try to find as many opportunities to come here to study or work as I can because I just want to utilize every excuse to come here. I love this library so much!

What a great feeling and honor to walk into the City of Roseville municipal office and library!…read moreEven though I am no longer a resident of Roseville since 1993, I grew up in Roseville as a child, teenager and adult along with 10 years of "Cruising Gratiot" in my many rust bomb cars to a few hot rod fancy classics. On this check in with my 87 year-old Mother we were walking up the sidewalk to enter the building to pay her winter tax and water bill. She was overwhelmed as well as myself to see and read the bronze history plaques along our walk with memorable information, and history of our city. (SEE MY MANY PHOTOS). The flagpole was flying the American Flag, City flag, with the State of Michigan flag. The statues along the way were clean and glossy polished. Inside I photographed the library door with hours along with the plaque of board members for the city. Since my mother is having memory issues she was happy to read the current names of them to refresh herself since she worked in the City Assessors office in the 1970's. The treasurer Michael Switalski is always happy to see my Mom and myself since I went to Roseville High school with his younger sister. All the departmemts along with their employee's are pleasant and available at the counters when needed. Also in the area is the police station along with the circuit court offices. I never had to use those 2 department's or building in my young adult life and while driving on Gratiot. I was always obeying the law and speed limit on the weekends. In conclusion it's a great feeling to drive by, or stop in here to assist my Mom and remember the good old days of Roseville!

RPL has a substantial collection of books, magazines, and papers - I cannot find an exact figure, but compared to the size of Royal Oak PL, it's about 3/4 the size, bookwise. RPL also offers an extensive online presence, both on site computers linked to a digital library and other catalogs including full text of local newspapers, which are also available for at-home viewing using your library card as a login. The one thing that RPL falls short on is with events. Now, they do have a strong summer reading program and a great once a month book sale (which I highly recommend. There's some treasures here), they don't have much in the way of arts. After being at Royal Oak PL and seeing that they have performing arts in an auditorium, as well as special guest writers, playwrights, musicians, film screenings (which RPL has also, but geared mostly towards children's cinema)... RPL just can't hold up to some of the other libraries in the area. Of course, I can't mention Detroit PL because it's king considering events AND selection size. Still, RPL is a great place to find books, whether you're a kid or an adult. It's the place that made me love to read - bring your kids here and maybe they'll become bookworms too!

24 Hour Library…read more Kresge has been my dwelling place for late nights of cramming. The library has wonderful amenities that are available for students as well as guests. I love the interlibrary loan and the writing resources for students. The library website can be the best resource a hard-working student can have. Library OneSearch is a new search engine that features everything from the library catalog and other library databases. OneSearch also includes scholarly content publishers and view results ranked by relevance. The library is now open 24/5 for OU Students from Sunday through Thursday and closes at 2 on Fridays and Saturdays.
