A perfect place to relax by the fire

This is an updated review and I still give our library 5 stars. We've used it this year more than ever, mainly checking out movies and music, and of course books. My husband is an avid reader and I'm an avid music fan so between the two of us, we're coming here a lot. This past winter, we found lots of good movies to watch on the cold winter nights. I didn't know they had so many documentaries and non-fiction DVD's until I asked one day where they were. They're actually tucked away upstairs and on shelving rather than the more convenient DVD drawers. They're harder to browse through because you have to crane your neck sideways to see the titles. The automated checkout system is super easy to use and the drive through return system is a great convenience. We're fortunate to have a library for the blind on the main floor. The reservation holds area is convenient and close to the main door for easy running in to grab your hold and check it out. There's plenty of seating upstairs and down for reading or studying. There's a small area where beverages are offered with a few small tables to sit at. They have an elevator or a huge stairway to venture upstairs where there is so much more to browse through. The children's area is large with interactive computers for the kids to learn the beginning techniques of technology usage. There's a puppet theater and some large toys to play on and explore. There's even a play room where the doors can be shut and your child can play without disturbing others. They even have smaller rooms where you can take a small group of kids and read to them. The book and DVD selections for the kids is vast. A whole floor dedicated to children and adolescents... what more could you ask for! There is plenty of seating, couches and chairs to curl up in and read books or magazines and I love reading next to the fireplace. The audio book selection is nice as well. There are meeting and study group rooms.... So many amenities, too little time for one visit. Oh and I can't forget to mention their website which is filled with so much information and worthy of a peek when you have the opportunity to check it out! Also, their quarterly newsletter is filled with all kinds of news and classes and programs for all ages! The one thing parents of little ones have to keep in mind is to teach children to be quiet in a library where others who are trying to study or read. At times we've seen first hand children using outdoor voices and running around which is a distraction to those trying to enjoy the peace and quiet which a library is known for. This is usually the exception but it's a good idea to keep this valuable teaching tool in mind and offer a life long lesson of demonstrating to our little ones the proper usage of a library and to enjoy the many offerings our beautiful facility has to offer. We have one of the best libraries I've been to and we're fortunate to have it so close and well stocked and maintained.

What a great feeling and honor to walk into the City of Roseville municipal office and library!…read moreEven though I am no longer a resident of Roseville since 1993, I grew up in Roseville as a child, teenager and adult along with 10 years of "Cruising Gratiot" in my many rust bomb cars to a few hot rod fancy classics. On this check in with my 87 year-old Mother we were walking up the sidewalk to enter the building to pay her winter tax and water bill. She was overwhelmed as well as myself to see and read the bronze history plaques along our walk with memorable information, and history of our city. (SEE MY MANY PHOTOS). The flagpole was flying the American Flag, City flag, with the State of Michigan flag. The statues along the way were clean and glossy polished. Inside I photographed the library door with hours along with the plaque of board members for the city. Since my mother is having memory issues she was happy to read the current names of them to refresh herself since she worked in the City Assessors office in the 1970's. The treasurer Michael Switalski is always happy to see my Mom and myself since I went to Roseville High school with his younger sister. All the departmemts along with their employee's are pleasant and available at the counters when needed. Also in the area is the police station along with the circuit court offices. I never had to use those 2 department's or building in my young adult life and while driving on Gratiot. I was always obeying the law and speed limit on the weekends. In conclusion it's a great feeling to drive by, or stop in here to assist my Mom and remember the good old days of Roseville!

The library is very clean and organized in a way that is super easy to find items. If you have any questions at all the staff is super friendly to deal with. They still have someone check the books out for you as opposed to some libraries that have self check out. I prefer the face to face interaction because when they check you out they look over the items and make sure there is no damage and if there is, they document it. Being someone who was once charged a fine for damages to a book that existed before I checked it out at a different library, I appreciate the way Roseville performs check outs. I also see that the library tries to have some kind of event going on to try and engage with the community. Overall, love this library.

What I really love about this library is that it's an a suer convenient location that is waking distance from a lot of great bakeries and restaurants in Ferndale. The library itself is quiet but not to a deafening degree. There's some light chatter and it gets a lot of sunlight which is also a plus. The staff is super friendly and there are plenty of computers and seating available. They also have a kids corner with books, games, and other activities to keep kids occupied. I also love that there's a lot of different seating options with spacious countertops for work and individual seating if you want to study alone. Highly recommend getting some work done here or just stopping by to dig into a good book !

It is very updated so you don't get much engagement with the staff which is good for quick check out but bad if you need assistance. If you do need to speak to the person that sits at the front counter they will likely first try to ignore you and then maybe glance up and give you a clipped response. Either that or they will be too busy eating to be bothered by you. They also do not enforce many rules as there are always groups in there being extremely loud or playing loud music on their phones. I stop here because they sometimes have books or movies I'm looking for that my local library doesn't have. It is great for variety and for a quick in and out.

But the Clinton Macomb Library staff is trying to cover it up, even though I have proof. I just hope that Mr. Don Brown, Macomb County Commissioner can investigate this as he promised he would when I met him in person. I spoke to him yesterday and he indicated that I shouldn't be treated this way especially since I have proof of what occurred on 9/11. I did present the evidence to Kyle McKee this morning regarding the incident on September 11, 2024 at 11:25-11:30 am where Kim admitted that the Caucasian female Patron used profanity at me and the Librarian Kim lied to staff that it didn't occur. Even Larry lied in his response and said that it was frivolous. This is what Larry Neal, composed in his response to my grievance: "Examples of your conduct that must not continue include monopolizing the staff's time with frivolous complaints and interrupting staff trying to serve other customers" I asked Kim for help on September 11, 2024 because my prints wouldn't release. But Larry is lying and saying that wasn't true. Kim, the Librarian indicated that the Lady cursed at me because she felt disrespected by me. I have proof she said that. But Mr. Neal said it's all frivolous. Kim, Clinton-Macomb Librarian admitted to me at the copier area at 11:30 am September 11, 2024 that the woman cursed at me because she felt I disrespected her, by implying to her that she thought I took her money. This is what occurred at the main copier/printer area on 9/11/24 At 11:30 am at the copier, I told Kim, "So, is it okay that she cursed me out?" Kim said: "No it's not. What would you like me to do? I mean she. I'm here trying to help both of you" I said, but I didn't know she had money in there. Kim said: "Well she didn't apparently, she didn't. I said, I'm tired of being disrespected" Me: I can't complain because y'all tell Larry that I complain too much. I said to Kim, "she just cursed me out for nothing and if it was me". Kim said, "That's not true Angela because she felt you were being disrespectful to her. I can't get in between both of you when she left. Kim said that she felt I was accusing her of believing that I stole her money. I said that wasn't what I was trying to do. Kim said I know that. Kim said but she felt that way. I told Kim you can keep that money, I'm not a thief and started crying. She falsely told Ann that the woman did not use profanity towards me and accused me of telling the woman that she was trying to take my money. But I never said that. Kim said to Ann that the woman said I was implying that she was trying to take my money. I never said that and Kim knows that. Kim told Ann that she didn't use profanity towards me. So how can I prove that the Clinton-Macomb Librarian, Kim, was dishonest by informing Melissa and Ann, and probably you Larry that the Caucasian female patron never used profanity to me and that I brought it on myself? When I submitted a Grievance via email on September 12, 2024 to Mr. Neal to submit to the Clinton Macomb Library Board, they retaliated by threating to ban me for speaking about this. The Library Director and their Board indicated that my allegations were frivolous even though I have evidence on what Kim, Librarian stated to me. This is unfair and ethical of Mr. Neal to indicate that my allegations' regarding September 11 was frivolous when I have evidence to dispute that. You also accused me of wasting staff time when I asked for help on September 11 because my documents wouldn't come out. I never got my change back either. I have rights and for Mr. Larry Neal to not address why Kim refuse to address a Caucasian female using profanity at me is not right. It's in the Code of Conduct. I feel like as a Diabled Black female, Mr Neal is sayinf that I dont have the right to be respected.
