Sterling Fence is NIGHTMARE! My neighbor contracted with Sterling Fence to replace our shared fence which has just become a nightmare! To start with they were supposed to come July 25th to replace the fence, all of the neighbors impacted by this with dogs and children prepared for that time. I personally have a dog, children and a pool and it is required when you have a pool that you have a fence. My neighbor who hired them paid half the money up front two months ago. So the week they were supposed to come, no one showed up.
They showed up on Monday July 2nd and cut down the fence while my dog was standing up hanging onto it. I went outside and immediately asked them just how long they planned to have my fence down as this is the week of the 4th of July and not the time to be without a fence. They replied a couple of days.
So day 1, there are no materials, they show up, cut down the fence, cut all the fence poles including one that belongs to my fence on the side of my house! It took them about an hour and a half, meanwhile I am explaining I cannot be without a fence over the holiday and my neighbor who hired them calls them and tells them to get my side done right away. So then they sit around for about 4 hours apparently waiting on materials or something. Then they drill holes for the fence posts on my side of the yard. They put poles in, dump dry concrete (the really cheap stuff) down in the holes and all over the ground and then stick the hose in the holes. I have huge mounds of concrete now all over my yard that they chose not to clean up. Then they left.
Day 2, July 3rd, my husband calls and leaves them a message informing them we did not hire them to take down our fence and they better have another fence in it's place that day because it is unacceptable. So at 7:30am Giles pulls up, sits in front of the house for a bit then leaves. A couple hours later another truck pulls up and stays for about two hours then drives onto the lawn to apparently deliver bags of cement to where each fence post should go. Then another truck comes, they do nothing with my fence but they do drill holes and put posts in the ground for the entire back of his lot. But it gets better, our entire neighborhood had 4 foot fences, apparently my neighbor wants 5 foot fences so they put poles on my side for a five foot fence, then at the back of the yard they put poles for a 4 foot fence, they don't even bother to set the poles on the other side of the yard... This pole setting takes an hour then they leave! That is Tuesday! So Wednesday is the 4th of July and 4 neighboring yards of the originally yard they were hired to do are all exposed so everyone is having to chase down children and pets.
On the 5th, my husband informed me the neighbor is handling it and to leave it be. At this point I'm already livid, this is more than inconvenient and they are ripping off a very good man, who is a fantastic neighbor, but I decide to leave things alone and see what happens that day on the strong advice of my husband.
That brings us to today, the 6th! I have concrete power all over, no fence, and I call the fence company and their number is DISCONNECTED!!!! Apparently, he didn't pay the bill. And there still are no materials here, not even the other fence posts they still haven't set! And we find out the company never filed a permit with the city so we are in limbo trying to decide whether to put up another fence or what to do. And the only thing I know for sure is I used to have a fence and then these men showed up and cut it down and disappeared. read more
