Throughout the planning process there were so many little behind the scenes details she saved me time on which I am so appreciative! I will miss seeing her monthly on our planning calls! I don't plan to get married again anytime soon but I do hope our paths cross again! I am speechless about her help from the rehearsal to the very last minute of shutting down the after party!! The top 3 highlights that people mentioned to me on the wedding day were 1. Dad's speech, 2. Florals, 3. How hard she HUSTLED!!! My bridesmaids and close family constantly approached me on the wedding day with sentiments of "wow, she's good!!" She exceeded our expectations and anticipated our every move! I have close family in the hospitality business (who are the harshest critics about everything in the event planning world) and were over the top satisfied with her commitment and follow through to make the day as seamless as possible! I am sure there were many hiccups that day that were not brought to my attention and for that, I give Lindsay full credit! I was able to relax, be present and have a B+ personality that evening instead of my typical A- for all things attention to detail! I felt completely comfortable 'handing Lindsay the reigns' and entrusting she would handle everything as necessary, which she did!!!

We had the privilege of working with Susan and Johnna. Susan is a visionary who can help you dream big and tap into your imagination, and Johnna makes all your dreams realities. Our event was held at 1970 N Lincoln (formerly Stanleys), which has been closed for almost a decade. Susan and Johnna were magicians and made the venue come to life, ensuring we had the epic dance party we envisioned. No detail was left unattended, from the creative catering to the security to the coat check to the lighting, the DJ, the party's flow, and then some. After the event, there was an issue with our bus company in which one bus never arrived. BCB was able to get a last-minute bus to come, all without letting me know, so that I could enjoy the party and not stress. I cannot recommend them enough. I only wish I had another party to throw so I could work with them again. When we had to pull the trigger on our big fat 500 person Indian wedding, Olga worked with us to design a whole new mini outdoor wedding this August. She helped transform a little outdoor gazebo into a beautiful wedding mandap, and truly worked with us on every detail until the last moment. She was very helpful when we had to postpone and let us move our deposit to a different day with no issues. When I asked for extra decorations last minute, she went out of her way to make it happen for us. I will definitely be using Olga and Prestige decor for all of our future events!

It was such a relief to know that the vendors were reliable, professional and had experience working with Kerrie. I am super indecisive so I can't tell you how much time this saved me. The end product was beautiful, classy, and more stunning than I could have imagined. WARNING: DO NOT TRUST SONYA I hired Sonya in May 2020 as a…read morefull-time planner to help me plan a wedding for Aug 2022. I worked with Sonya for 4 months before I terminated the contract. In the 4 months, Sonya did not do anything except e-mail some venue options. I found Sonya to be highly unprofessional and dishonest. Sonya does not communicate and kept making excuses for not being able to accomplish any tasks. I got frustrated with her lack of progress and started planning my own wedding. It took me only 3 weeks to tour multiple venues and book one. Sonya would send me venue options via e-mail but never followed up or scheduled tours. She blamed the venues and claimed they were not responding to her. Weeks would go by and I would hear nothing from her. I checked up on her every 2-3 weeks to even get any information. After 3 months, she calls me saying she found a venue. She tells me it is within my budget and allows outside catering. She askes me to send me my availability to schedule a in-person tour. I send her my schedule and don't hear anything back. Two weeks later I call her and ask what happened. She again makes excuses that the venue isn't responding, etc. A few days later she e-mails me a contract for the venue with no information except the attached contract. The contract did NOT match anything Sonya told me over the phone. It was double the cost and did not allow for outside catering. I asked Sonya and she said it was just an "example" of a contract for me to see (what?) and that she will work it out with the vendor. Guess what? Never heard from Sonya again about this venue. We communicated to Sonya about our concerns with her work she never addressed them. I got frustrated and decided to contact venues on my own. In two weeks, I set MULTIPLE in-person venue tours and within 3 weeks I secured a venue that was within my budget and had flexible catering options. I fired Sonya after that. I did not have any issues contacting venues or hearing back from them. Sonya was being dishonest. I asked her to refund my deposit and she has not. I have filed a formal complaint to the BBB. Because of Sonya wasting 4 months, I was not able to secure the date I wanted. TLDR - Sonya took our deposit and accomplished nothing for 4 months. She barely communicated and she did, it was constant empty excuses and lies. She has refused to refund us. Because of her negligence I was not able to get the date I wanted at my venue.

I was able to give her a proof of concept to develop the unique paper print and she turned it into a forever treasure that is hung up in our home . A very cool unique thing but we gave our Chinese characters of our last names and she made it into a press and we got to keep it as a keepsake. Every once in a while I do a search online to see if there's one I should follow on Instagram, because I love buying cards, and I like to support small businesses, so that works out pretty well, right? I've searched for letterpresses in Chicago more than once. More than once in the last couple months, even, when I was trying to decide where I wanted to purchase my holiday cards. Somehow I've only come up with one or two, and Starshaped Press was not one of them--though I live less than half a mile from where it's located. I lucked out and found Starshaped two days before their annual open house. Perfect timing. The studio is in this really awesome Art Deco building that of course I've seen in the neighborhood but have never had reason to enter. We got there right at noon so we could beat the crowd, and Jen was a gracious host. She had samples of her work out, consisting of pieces decorating the studio as well as prints and cards for purchase. (I ended up spending... way too much money). She also had delicious cookies for us too! She was so open to any question we had, and showed us how the press worked. She had set up many examples of the letterpress dies set in various designs, and they are so incredibly intricate. There may be hundreds in a single print of all sizes. I loved seeing those set up with an example of the pressed item next to it. Starshaped Press also has a print club, which is a subscription service where you get printed goodies from the press on a monthly basis. There are a few different options so you can choose based upon your budget. I signed up for the print club and will get my first this month (January 2022), and can't wait! It was suggested that I might want to get my own holiday cards printed at a letterpress--perhaps Starshaped Letterpress--and I find that idea quite intriguing. Review 641 - January 23, 2022 22/2022

Prices are about the same as what you'd pay at shops like Papersource or Papyrus. The entire back of the shop is dedicated to custom invitations if that's your style. I wasn't shopping for anything in particular, but I could have easily spent $100 here on various zip bags (a yellow bag proclaiming, "Make Every Day an Adventure,") candles, notepads, lip gloss (lychee macaron!), and writing instruments.

I can't belive I went through the effort of setting up a meeting with my fiancee (who's work schedule is pretty hectic) and my mother (who lives out of the country), only to never receive a response back. Horrible customer service! We ended up ordering our invites at Pulp & Ink, which I HIGHLY recommend. Jeff was wonderful to work with and he was able to have a proposal for me by the end of our consultation. Can't beat that!

Every day since we wed, we've raved to each other about how pleasant the day went and how seamless everything was--especially as we've listened to nightmare stories of friends + family trying to plan weddings during COVID. We first met with Becky in March after confirming our date with Chicago's city hall. She was super professional over Zoom and answered all of our questions about the order of the day, what we should bring, and what to expect from her. In addition to her beautiful photography skills, we also decided to work with her hair and makeup team for our wedding day. She connected us to everyone we'd be working with and the whole process went so smoothly. Becky was available via email and text starting from the day we reached out all the way to the moment we met her at city hall. She always responded within hours--super helpful for us--and no questions were left unanswered. She also had a great grip on the logistical aspects of navigating city hall during COVID, which was super handy. On the day of our wedding, our makeup artist, Carla, arrived at our hotel at 6:00am and did our hair and makeup perfectly, based on the pictures we sent in advance. Becky met us at city hall at 9:00am sharp and after getting hitched at the courthouse, took us to several (probably 10-15?) different locations downtown to shoot... plus one spot in Wicker Park we'd specifically requested to have photos taken. My partner and I asked her to coach us through poses and Becky was brilliant, asking us to walk towards her laughing, sneak up on each other, hold kisses for a few moments, and spin in ways that made our clothes shine. Nothing felt awkward or forced. Thus far, we've only received the preview photos from our elopement, but each one is an absolute stunner and SUCH an accurate portrait of our love. OH! And I have to mention, Becky thinks of EVERYTHING. Rain was forecasted on our wedding day, and Becky came equipped with two clear umbrellas. She also brought a tote filled with water, tissues, and gum. It was the perfect place to store my purse and our treats for later plus Band-Aids for when our shoes got pinchy. If I could get married all over again, I'd choose Elope to Chicago in a heartbeat. Becky, the owner and photographer behind Elope to Chicago, was one of our top two choices when we were finalizing new elopement plans this summer. She won our business because she was so helpful and helped us solve dilemmas!! We hadn't really explored venues here -- all we cared about was outdoors with some shade from the sun, and safe for our handful of guests -- so we valued her suggestions and flexibility with nailing down a new location, time/date, and an officiant. Prior to our wedding date, we had virtual meetings to plan out the details of our outdoor ceremony and photo session. We discussed our COVID safety precautions in detail -- what we were doing, what our 4 guests were doing, what our official and photographer would each be doing to make it as safe as possible for all involved. We also met with our officiant Jill, who helped us write our vows and personalized our ceremony based on what she learned about us. On our wedding morning, everything was EASY and my biggest stress was doing my own hair and makeup because Elope to Chicago took care of everything else. Our photos are AMAZING! I didn't have much of a floral vision, so I needed all the help I could get. After meeting with Patty and discussing different ideas, she asked if we had a theme for our wedding. At the time, we also didn't have much of a theme, other than wanting to highlight the city of Chicago through the skyline. So, I showed Patty our wedding invitation and she immediately had an idea for our centerpieces. She showed me a large clear vase (and floating candle) with a cut-out of the skyline that wrapped around the vase and I immediately fell in love with the idea! She then added flowers and greenery around the vase to complete the look. It was the perfect look for our big day, and the centerpieces looked so amazing at our venue! On the day of the wedding, Patty arrived on time with the bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages. All the flowers looked so fresh and elegant. I could not have asked for a more perfect look! She also added a small charm to my bouquet in memory of my grandmother and it was beautiful. Patty even stopped by our church to ensure everything was perfect, even though this was not a part of our contract. She truly went above and beyond and I am forever thankful for talent and kindness. Patty also offers other services such as day of coordination, and other wedding details. Although I didn't need to use those services, I am sure she is as exceptional with those services as she is with the florals. Patty is a true gem. She is kind, knowledgeable, creative, and passionate about helping to make your wedding day truly the best day of your life. Thank you Patty!!!

I was having a smaller wedding and honestly, my goal was to spend as little money as possible on flowers because I didn't feel like they would make much of a difference in a wedding as small as mine. Patty set me straight and showed me how much these things can make a difference especially in a wedding like mine. I spent more than I had originally intended, but I will tell you that the end result was worth every penny. Patty had some great ideas and is extremely creative. I met with her to plan everything and gave her some basic ideas such as colors and themes and she turned that into the most beautiful wedding I could ever imagine. So many of our guests complimented us on the decor and flowers and we gave away the centerpieces because we hated to see them go to waste. Everything was just perfect the day of too. I had to worry about nothing and all of the other vendors commented on how great she was to work with. I would definitely recommend Patty and use her again. She was a pleasure to work with and she is not only florist, but really an event designer who will make yours shine. One note is that they do not take credit cards, but they were very flexible with payment scheduling.
