Stacey is a magical paper fairy. Stationery and paper goods feel like an easy thing to overlook when wedding planning, but you have no idea what Stacey can do. Steracle's services from Save the Date envelopes to our wedding invitation to all the day-of goods made a tremendous impact on our wedding, and we had numerous guests praising the attention to detail throughout our events. A large credit for that goes to Steracle. First off, we were trying to use Minted for our Save the Dates, and when they messed up all of our envelope addressing, Steracle was able to quickly turn around custom envelopes. That remained a constant theme throughout. The team was extremely responsive, turning around many many revisions very quickly as we proofread every single comma. Second was our wedding invites. We had this crazy idea to try and create a book for the invite, similar to special editions of famous books that evoked memories of fairy tales. It was just a vague concept, but Stacey and team took that idea and ran with it, creating the invitation of a lifetime. We actually cried when we saw it, and it will be forever placed on our bookshelves as a memento. Numerous guests sent personalized praise for these invites. A quote from one of them: "This is so refreshing in the days of e-invitations. Very very beautiful and elegant design. What a GORGEOUS wedding invitation!!!!!! The invitation reminds me a lot of the fairy tales I used to read growing up. The invitation brought back the romance of weddings. Nowadays people try to save time and (especially) money by sending e-invitations and those make me sad because there is something special about receiving an actual invitation. And this one blows all invitations out of the water. It sets the stage for a royal wedding." Needless to say, the bar had been raised for the rest of the paper goods, and somehow Stacey and Steracle met them. We had four separate events, and the team crafted unique feels for each event. They took certain themes and motifs and blended them across all events while maintaining the unique identity of each of them. Stacey kept coming up with brilliant ideas that made every element feel personalized, creative, and completely unique. Our wedding menu somehow had a 3D butterfly effect, and she took our love of fantasy books and created a completely custom fantasy-inspired map for the food stations at our reception. There were so many other brilliant design choices that we can go on and on about the quality and craft that Steracle illustrated. We want to keep all of these items as mementos, and we are probably going to be using our bar menus in our home going forward. It might be easy to overlook stationery as a crucial part of wedding planning, but trust us, if you go with Steracle, you will see the impact it can have and how it can elevate your entire wedding. We worked with Stacey to create a design for the invitations that reflected the couple's personality, and carried over the designs for all other printing including signs, place cards, etc. Everything looked so cohesive and added to the overall design that was desired. Stacey at Steracle Press is such a creative genius. I have to admit, I have never been one for "printed goods" (much to my mom's dismay). So I was not overly enthused about any of the printed items going into the wedding planning process. But, my planner stood back and let Stacey change my mind. I cannot say enough great things about Stacey and Steracle Press! My fiancé and I designed our own four-piece wedding suite and spent a great deal of time searching for the perfect company who we felt could adequately fulfill our letterpress, gold foil, and edge painting needs without gouging us on price. Stacey was quick to respond to our initial inquiry from the get-go, providing us with an organized quote which allowed us to see how much each piece - and printing detail - would cost. I live in Manhattan, but as luck would have it, I happened to be working in Chicago at the time that I was shopping our invitations around. I immediately jumped at the opportunity to visit Steracle's studio and was SO impressed with the quality of their work and ample list of options and examples that Stacey was able to provide for us. She helped us make important decisions and provided insight from years of experience that you would never receive when playing an order through an online company. (For example, she veered us away from using the thick stock that we wanted for our RSVP postcards because she said the paper had been destroyed by the USPS during transit in the past. None of the other companies I spoke with mentioned this - likely because they didn't care what would happen once the invitations left their shops. Stacey cares!) Throughout the entire production process, Stacey was extremely communicative, flexible, and talented! The custom map that she whipped up for us is fantastic! This is my first review on Yelp because I was that impressed with Stacey's talent as an artist, her service and the product for my wedding. First and foremost: Stacey is an artist and that is clear the second you see the final product. Steracle is likely Chicago's best kept secret when it comes to wedding invitations. That being said ... Service started at her art studio in Humboldt Park. Right when you walk in you'll see an old fashioned letter press that she uses for her craft. It looks like it's 100 years old and it is incredible that she still uses that old-school craft for her invitations. We sat down and shared our style as well as what we were doing for our wedding. We then looked through several dozen hard copy examples before moving forward. One of the things that really impressed me is that she draws a map of your wedding stops - with historic landmarks and everything - and presses it on a card. It looked really amazing when we saw the final product and many of our guests were very impressed with it. Mock ups were emailed to us and she provided feedback as well as catering to our minor requests with enthusiasm. This included minor color adjustments and spacing, wording, etc. All of this was done with ease. Stacey was so easy to work with, too. She was very prompt in returning messages, emails and made herself available to our hectic schedule. This was a plus because as many of you know, not everyone you deal with when getting married is like this, especially when you deal with multiple vendors. If you are looking for nice to incredible wedding invitations, I sincerely feel this is the only place you should go. Many of the places my wife and I researched were very pricey and nowhere near the quality that Stacey was offering and her price point was so much more competitive. She's very smart in that she mocked up an on-the-spot design while we met with her for the first time. Hook, line and sinker! Just the small details that got our brains working. And honestly, that design she came up with was 90% of what is on our printed wedding invites! I was familiar with Vanessa's work (I've had several friends go to her for various projects) and I knew that when my time came to splurge on some beautiful wedding invitations that I would end up going with her. I was blown away by how happy I was when we were through. I sent Vanessa my ideas (via dozens of photos on Pinterest covering colors, themes, fonts, etc) in advance of a meeting at a coffee shop. At my consultation Vanessa had clearly studied the imagery I had provided and she was able to help me define what the common elements were. She also brought samples of card stock, envelope styles, and samples of previous projects she had done to help me zero in on what I wanted. I really appreciated that she was able to see my vision, not only through what I gave her in advance, but also through her questions. She thought of many things that I hadn't considered (cost of total postage by the end of the project, for example). She helped me pick out details that would make my invitations unique and showed me what areas could help me save a little money. Very soon after our first meeting she gave me three original designs (including the RSVP cards and envelope design) and was very receptive to my changes. The final product was also delivered within a reasonable turnaround. I really can't recommend Vanessa and Steracle Press enough. Planning a wedding can be crazy but it's lovely to work with people who are amazing at what they do. I planned my New York wedding from Chicago. After my fiancé (now husband) and I went to Paper source and Papyrus and a few other places that showed us the same books over and over again, I felt crazy because I couldn't find anything that I absolutely loved. I got the idea that maybe there was somewhere that I could have them made exactly like I imagined them in my head. After a quick google search I found Stacey. I went to her awesome studio and she showed me some of her great designs. I picked and chose elements that I really liked and we came up with exactly what I was looking for. We had an issue with one of my ideas and it's functionality. But she worked with the materials and made it awesome. She addressed each invitation, a process that we went back and forth on for a while since it was difficult to get my guests' correct addresses. But Stacey was so accommodating, always available to talk or meet up, even after hours. The invitations were mailed out and many guests called me to tell me how beautiful they were. A WEEK before the wedding I finally got the final head count. Stacey printed out escort cards in the shape of flags which were placed on sticks and into mini-succulent plants for each guest. She also made menus with each guest's name on them for a 2-in-1 place card/menu...which I thought was brilliant. All-in-all, they were mailed to me overnight to NYC where I received them in enough time to get them to the florist/venue. Stacey and her team are very creative and their work is beautiful. They seem to really care about each of their clients and they do their best to accommodate. Her prices were surprisingly less than those cookie-cutter designs at the stores AND she went above and beyond the call of duty.
