Dr Turvey and crew picked through my bits of shattered shoulder, piecing it together around the ball of my left arm. A large spike with screws jutting out held everything in place to begin a long, painful recovery. Sound gross? To me, it is artwork to see it in trays and how bone and tissue are growing back so quickly! The staff genuinely cares about patient recovery and you feel like you truly have the most gradients, honest crew in your corner. There are lots of reasons to need their services (I don't recommend a shattered shoulder) and this team is up to HELP you recover with cutting edge techniques and personal care.

I would encourage you to find one that doesn't require you to arrive at least 30 prior to your appointment, only to keep you waiting at least an hour before you get taken back for intake with the nurse and much more before you actually see the doctor. This office (like most) has a cancellation policy that requires payment for missed appointments and I feel certain that an hour late would constitute a missed appointment. Do doctors not understand that their patients time is every bit as valuable as theirs. When I asked why the extensive delay, I was told "this IS a doctor's office!"

I was referred to Dr. Saldanha from another Orthopedic Surgeon, because my knee was not getting…read morebetter. The referring physician was no longer doing knee replacements, so I made my appointment and sort of braced myself for the worst. Some doctors are brash, He was incredibly easy to talk to, he asked if I was OK with having PAs in the room, he looked at my X-rays, and did an exam. He was very kind when he said "Do you feel how this is moving?" (Oh, yes, I was aware!) "It's time." He didn't push, he wasn't unkind, or using a lot of jargon that went over my head; he listened to my questions and answered them with thoughtfulness and consideration. He explained why he used the Mako robotic arm to assist him in doing the least amount of damage to the interior of my leg, and that since he'd tried it, he'd never gone back. Personally, I like to know the "why" of a physician's decision. It took a few cancelled times to get into the hospital - completely not his fault. His office kept me up to date to the best of their ability, and when it finally came to be - well, it was a really dramatic difference. I can't really tell you about the surgery or the room it was done in, other than to saay I think there was a lot of white. I did have some issue with drainage for about 10 days and pain control the first two nights. For what all the surgery entailed, that's nothing. When I needed help with the drainage, I was squeezed in to figure out an alternative way of controlling the fluids. Then I was sent to a wound care specialist, not left on my own to try and mummy wrap my leg. That was in incredible held. Within a week - I felt comfortable walking my house without a walker. I could stand long enough to throw together something simple to eat. I was able to move around the house, and slowly work up to more of my normal tasks. I'm in Physical Therapy now, and Dr. Saldanha is happy with my range of motion. My scars are already fading, and I expect them to be almost invisible in a few months. When I ask questions, I get answers, not a pat on the head and a "Let me worry about that for you." If I needed to do this all over tomorrow - if the joint were to be recalled or something equally critical, so long as Dr. Saldanha was doing the surgery, I'd be on my way to the hospital tonight.

They were on time with my follow-up appointment and did not make me wait a long time. They are very busy, but the surgeon took the time to answer all of my questions. They also immediately emailed my x-rays to me when I requested them. The wi-fi in their office worked really well, and they have a sign with the password. The online patient portal was also easy to use, and they are good about communicating appointments. They also send plenty of text message as reminders of appointments. They are conveniently located right off of 620 behind St. David's Round Rock Medical Center hospital. I recommend OACT if you need an orthopedic specialist.

As I told them, they have earned their 5 stars! They are very, very nice, helpful, and professional. I waited for a little while in their nice office, but I didn't have to wait long. When I saw Dr. Burris, he had actually read my file (information submitted prior to visit)! He also had already looked at the x-Ray I got just prior to the appointment. He examined my knee thoroughly and listened to whatever I had to say. After that, Dr. Burris went through all treatment options with me after telling me that my knee problems were from severe arthritis; because I'm also concerned about costs, we discussed that as well. I chose the cortisone shots in my knee, and received one right away. No follow-up necessary until I need him again. It's rare that I can say this, but it was a very pleasant medical experience. She sent me to what sounded like an unmanned voicemail and I got no call back. My PCP called Dr. Valastro's office after I complained to her about it and her office told me they didn't get a response from him or his nurse either. Ironically, I called to cancel my appointment and let them know I'm switching to a doctor who will help me and their system hung up on me after about 10 seconds. A doctor (and nurses) who aren't there to answer any questions or help me find and correctly use assistive devices they prescribe are not worth seeing in my book.

I write this review a few years after seeing him to help other not make the same mistake I made. This doctor had both of his hands on my shoulders and was shaking me saying "There is nothing wrong with your neck! Stop saying there is something wrong with your neck, there is nothing wrong with your neck!" PTSD for years after this. It is hard to trust doctors when you see someone like this. I have severe cervical stenosis and other cervical issues clearly visible on my imaging. I had to get an ACDF fusion which relieved my horrible symptoms. Stay away from Dr Santman!
