AVOID AVOID AVOID Scott Smith at ALL costs! If I could leave NO STAR I would. First and foremost, my apology for the delay in posting this review. I was busy getting appropriate and excellent treatment to repair the original injury AND fix the additional damage I incurred after seeing that QUACK Scott Smith (I won't use "Doctor" as SMITH is MENACE who should be barred from the profession). The REAL Orthopedic Surgeon I went to see - Doctor S. Brent Brotzman, MD is a fantastic surgeon whom I will be writing a positive review for shortly. But back to Smith. I was working (successfully) on getting into better shape to prepare for my son's wedding in June of 2022. I'd put on a few pounds while dealing with both my parents unexpected deaths in 2020. Around late March 2022, I went to the gym so as to add some cardio to my weight training and nutrition program I'd been implementing since January 2022. I made the mistake of adding a sprint to my HIIT walking routine without working my way up to doing it safely. I felt something like a "tear" in my right knee area. I tried treating this with ice and rest for about a month with very little improvement. I also went to Airrosti with no improvement. Finally I went to Smith per a referral from my now "FORMER" GP (thanks to his referral to this loon). Scott Smith walked into the room and said, without touching me or offering X-rays, "It's arthritis." I tried questioning this by explaining how the injury occurred but he dismissed this by saying "You poked the bear!" I said I'd like an X-ray. He rolled his eyes and said that wasn't needed as it was "obviously" arthritis. I asked how he knew. He smirked and said (paraphrased) that "as people 'age' they always develop arthritis and need eventual knee replacements. That's why we do thousands a year." I said I'd be okay with one if I could still have an active lifestyle such as rock climbing and hiking." He laughed at me and said, "Well that's not going to happen but you WILL be able to walk in the grocery store." (I was 59 at the visit with a 60th birthday coming in May...so OBVIOUSLY Smith decided I was now in the category of aged). I explained to him that I was not on any medicine, have normal BP as well as high bone density - that of a much younger average person per valid tests done recently and that both my parents had great DNA with long and vibrant lives late 80s to 90s (mom passed at 87 and dad left at 92 - both due to outside forces not their age. Smith rolled his eyes yet again and basically tried to ignore my request yet AGAIN for an X-ray. Finally, he said, "FINE..it's your money" and left the room. After getting an X-ray, A-Hole didn't come back but rather sent his minion who said he could give me a shot so I could attend my son's wedding that week without pain. I was so down and hopeless I agreed. The minion LIED btw as he hurt me with no warning in that room AND it did NOTHING to relieve the pain later and, in fact, made it worse. I was told by minion I could leave and pay at the front. I left that office demoralized and dismissed after being charged for a copy of my x-ray (one angle btw) so I'd at least have SOMETHING from that visit. Well, AFTER a painful event at my son's wedding in which we couldn't even dance together, I was referred by a friend to Dr. Brotzman who, after careful and thorough evaluation including palpation by himself and several of his medical staff AND another set of X-rays from all angles possible, found very MINOR arthritis and, LO and BEHOLD, a very severe MENISCUS TEAR (most likely made worse by not being diagnosed by that QUACK Smith!!) Oh and insult made injury, that low life menace to medicine Smith also billed me an additional $140 over the insurance for that useless shot he foisted on me. I told his billing department that he would have to wait as I was putting my money towards a real doctor to repair his incompetence! Please make sure you DO NOT subject yourself or any person you love to this brute! If I could find a way to have Smith removed from the medical profession, I would for all people's safety. Hopefully this long but detailed account of his dangerous behavior is a start. read more
