I've had a rough 2025 and I apologize for neglecting my Yelp friends. I had a detached retina and then a wicked shoulder break.... which brings me to TXOrtho. Dr Turvey and crew picked through my bits of shattered shoulder, piecing it together around the ball of my left arm. A large spike with screws jutting out held everything in place to begin a long, painful recovery. Sound gross? To me, it is artwork to see it in trays and how bone and tissue are growing back so quickly! He has personally followed up with me multiple times, really listens and we have a great course of action on how to move forward. Big shout out to Bridget who is amazing and super helpful. I had a very disappointing experience here. I had an accident on Tuesday, September 9th, and fractured a bone. I went to this orthopedic office on Thursday, September 11th. From the beginning, the receptionist was rude, and despite the very expensive visit, I didn't receive any real help or emergency care. They only took one single X-ray from one angle, which did not clearly show the fracture. They left me with a huge splint that was hurting me, but they didn't remove it, adjust it, or offer any solutions. All they told me was to come back in two weeks, which was shocking given that I was in pain and had a clear fracture. When I went to another orthopedic clinic, they took multiple X-rays of my entire hand, arm, forearm, and fingers. Those images showed not only the fracture but also that the bone had shifted and expanded because I had not received proper treatment in time. The new doctor immediately gave me two options: get a cast or have surgery. I chose surgery, and I'm grateful he took my situation seriously. I cannot believe that this office didn't even provide a proper diagnosis, present me with options, or create a treatment plan right away. The corporate billing people have lost a patient. No matter how many times I tell them, the billing issue is their software, they don't do anything about it. When I leave a message to discuss, they never return the call. I am not planning to go to any ortholinestar practice because this has happened every month for over 6 months and the people always have to transfer me after they demand I make a payment. Billing department for Doctors side is very dishonest. They steal money from the physical therapy side to cover what you owe them when its 2 separate different billing companies. My bill was changed 3 times in less than 24 hours when i called and questioned a particular payment. All they want to do is argue with you and say your wrong. It all stems from a visit almost 5 months ago that I nor the insurance company was billed. They just billed them yesterday. 2 phone calls to my insurance and they told me what was done. Today its still been a hassle and now they aren't responding to my messages. I made another phone call today and got another person who is going to investigate it. This is not the first time this has happened. Who's to say they haven't done this to other people. As for my Dr and Physical Therapist no issues with them both are great people. I was supposed to have back surgery with another doctor there but with this how can they be trusted. read more

Avoid Texas Orthopedics. I'm a prior patient and 8 years ago when I needed surgery and follow-up, the care was great. Fast forward to today and the entire practice has changed for the worse. I had a knee issue come up and needed to get seen/evaluated. I logged in, scheduled an appointment online (with a new doctor for a new problem), and completed the medical history questionnaire. Fast forward to today: I show up, check in, and am informed that they need me to fill out more paperwork, including medical history. I mention that I did my history online and get a blank stare, and a repeated assertion. Fine. Give me the paperwork. "Where can I send the link?" You don't have paper forms I can use? "No." I'm in a medical office and all I have is my phone. There's a reason I did the online history. There's a reason I don't want to sit, squint and answer the same questions again on a tiny mobile device... it's a horrible experience for me as a patient. It's clear their policies are meant to benefit their staff and disregard their patients. That's sad, and it's not how they used to be. I left. I looked at other nearby practices and was able to book an appointment as a new patient within 24 hours, so I'll still get care. Where I spend my money is a choice. My therapist both Alex and Mayci have been amazing. I am so excited that they ended up sending me to a facility that was a little further than I wanted to go. I have no issues with the care I have received from Dr Vilas Saldanha. But over the multiple years I have visited this office, I've been treated very rudely by office staff. Not just once, but nearly every time. They are condescending, argumentative, and appear to hate their jobs and resent the patients. The office manager at the around Rock location is particularly rude. I don't know her name, however. The staff in the PT area are kind and courteous and friendly and always a pleasure to deal with, but on the physician side they are a crew of downright unpleasant and rude people. Do better! These patients are not here because it's fun! read more

Arrived 10 minutes early. Waited an hour for a 9am appt. Not sure what level of competence one must be to honor commitments, but it would seem that bar is way too high for these people. Better of going with a real medical outfit that actually employs schedulers and office managers with experience and knowledge of patient scheduling. Without question the highest level of incompetence imaginable. I have seen emergency rooms in county hospitals that were more efficient. Actually walked out because there is no way I would allow incompetence like this to work on ingrown hair let alone my spine. Dr Alex Cruz is one of the best Orthopedic Surgeons and I would highly recommend him if you should ever have back problems . He operated on me 6/21/23 and I'm still recovering but so far so good . Dr Scott Smith is incompetent. I went in for a hamstring injury and after two X-rays he told me I didn't tear anything and there was nothing to be done except ice and rest. After suffering immense pain all weekend I messaged him and asked if the X-rays were correct because of the pain and location of all the pain, not just the hip area. He said I had a tear and the X-rays were correct. Remember on the visit he said I had no pain!? Liar Over the weekend I looked for my own remedies and compression was suggested. It helps tremendously and he never told be about compression He also said he wouldn't prescribe a temp handicap placard because I wasn't handicapped. I can't walk without assistance. I am handicapped temporarily, I have had one for a broken foot before. This is not much different. Update Thursday (6 days after injury): I got a 2nd opinion today and I wish this would've been the first doc I had chosen and not Dr. Smith. I went to an ARC Orthopedic doc and he was so amazing. I didn't even realize how bad the x-ray tech at Tx Orthopedics was till I had to have x-rays again today (because Tx Ortho failed to send my x-rays to ARC or ARA, as I had requested on Monday). The tech I had today was so nice, he explained the entire procedure so well, he listened to me when I said a certain position for my leg hurt. The girl at Tx Ortho said to straighten my leg and I could not without severe pain but she didn't care. They also put on my record I was standing for the x-rays and I was not standing, I couldn't stand. That sounds like improper coding to me. Back to the amazing ARC Ortho doc, he not only explained the injury much better, he actually showed me the x-rays and where the muscle was torn from the bone (yes it could be surgically fixed, but Dr. Smith said there was nothing he could do, BS!) Anyhow yes it will heal on it's own and since using my hamstring is not in my profession (not an athlete) I chose not to have surgery. The amazing doc did tests for range of motion, points of pain and explained thoroughly to me why it hurt in the places it did. Dr. Smith, never touched me nor did he even show me my xrays! WTH? I am SO glad I got a 2nd opinion and although I've been to many great Tx Ortho docs at the Quarry Lake location, I'll never, ever go back to the Round Rock office or Dr. Smith again! Not only did he and his office lie to me, they have no bedside manner or true care for their patients! read more

I am floored at how bad this place is. I work out quite a bit and have knee and SI joint problems and needed to talk to a doctor to see if there was anything I could do to help the main when it flares up. Making my appointment and seeing the doctor was fine. The doctor himself was great. The majority of my appointment was spent discussing the possibility of me having rhemitoid arthritis even though I had been tested twice in the past. He agreed it was a longshot, but still we tested. I got the results, it was negative for RA just as we suspected. I contacted the doctor through the portal with some very specific questions: Confirm I do not have RA as the bloodwork implies? What type of brace should I get when I have pain flare ups? What is the best OTC course to follow when my pain flares up? And lastly, is Osteo-biflex a good evidence-based supplment? A front desk admin responds on behalf of the doctor and gives me a bunch of generic answers, not really addressing my questions and then goes on to recommend TUMERIC. I went to this MD because I wanted evidence-based recommendations. So I went back and forth with this front desk admin asking for the doctor to weigh in, and was told that NONE OF THE DOCTORS at the practice will respond to any questions on the portal. Period. That if I have questions, including my super basic ones, I needed to make a second appointment. I just got the bill for my visit, it was over $700 and I have nothing to show for it. This last go-round with the front desk admin - I asked for evidence-based research to support the tumeric recommendation. I was told they couldn't provide me any on the portal, but to go search mayo-clinic. Y'all, avoid this place. I'm sad. The doctor himself seemed great, but once you're out of there it's front desk admins giving out really bad pseudoscientific medical advice. RUN. read more

Went in for a broken 5th metatarsal. Dr Taylor talked to me briefly about my options. Sent in a nurse to help suggest a walking boot. The nurse was kind and helpful. Sat with me on my Amazon to pick out the best boot because that was the cheaper option opposed to purchasing one through the facility. HOWEVER I have been billed for the boot I did not purchase through them. It's an absolute circus trying to get anyone on the phone for answers. Billing was zero help because it was signed off by a doctor. You can't get anyone on the phone at the physical location. Being charged $487 for a boot I did not buy. Left multiple messages with the office manager. Nothing. Self pay at your own risk. I will be there tomorrow in person for them to make this right. What a shit show... read more

Dr. Cruz did a great job repairing my elbow after a car accident. His office staff was exceptional in handling my paperwork with insurance.

Visited them twice and they been helpful from getting a referral to the service. I be been dealing with some tendon issues in my wrist that made rest after weight training painful. I received two injection in my wrist which helped for the most part. Hopefully permanently if not they have more options that we've discussed. read more

For Dr. Stockton - two enthusiastic thumbs up for his care with chronic ankle issues. He and his team have been very helpful throughout this lengthy process of at-home physical therapy, pain relief (without meds), and orthotics. The pain is almost a NON-issue and mobility has returned to almost normal. Dr. Stockton is also very respectful and never non-dismissive as some doctors can be. I've been there 3 times and 2 have been blown calls requiring second opinions. I rolled my ankle but it wasn't healing like it should. They didn't really listen to me and sent me on my way at the follow up. When it still wasn't healing, I went to Dr. Jeffrey Lamour and he agreed it was more than a sprain and sent me to get an MRI. Turns out I have Osteochondritis Dissecans from the injury. Later, I was running on a treadmill and felt immediate, intense pain. I went in the next day when it was swollen and they told me it was just arthritis. I got a second opinion with Dr. Brotzman and he listened first, then moved my knee around and felt a catch. He said it was pretty clearly meniscus. Got an MRI to confirm and scheduled me for surgery right away! (Another time I went in for neck pains and they told me that, too, was arthritis. Full disclosure, I haven't gotten a second opinion but this does seem like a lazy answer they like to turn to.) Everyone was perfectly friendly, but to get a solid diagnosis, I wouldn't recommend going here. read more

The two stars is simply for the amazing service from Dr. Cruz himself. When you (finally) see him, he is prompt, thorough, kind, and compassionate. The staff is everything but. Their lack of communication is extremely frustrating. I've never gone in and waited less than 30 mins. And only after answering a survey after my first appt did I see a change in the communication of that wait. But now, my appt that was scheduled this Friday was "canceled." I've been waiting 7 weeks for this appt. Glad I called to confirm. She said she'd put it back on his appts but now I know I'll really be waiting that 30 mins I always do. My question is- why would you cancel without letting people know? It's still not showing up on my appts in my portal. So it probably isn't actually scheduled. Another thing that's irked me from the very first appt, they wait until literally the day before to verify insurance. Every single office. I book our weeks in advance, always. And then have to scramble around with my insurance that day before my appt to correct any mistakes they've made. They made a $200 mistake last month that I'm still waiting on reimbursement for. Just all around terrible communication, terrible accountability, terrible service. Worst experience I've had at a doctors office in a long time. read more

I had knee replacement in June 2021 and still have pain, instability, and swelling. I drove 1 1/2 hours to see Dr Saldanha in January. After I was already in the office, they said he was in surgery and the PA came in and took some info. Made another appointment for 2 weeks. Before I got there, they called and said they were canceling. Told them I would wait for him to get there (2 hours) and he just took information. Made the 3rd appointment and saw him for about 10 minutes. Getting info was like pulling teeth. He wanted me to see Dr Kancherla in two days. Just received a call that he was canceling. I asked to make an appt for physio & she kept saying she'd refer me to my Dr for surgery.. wtf?! Go in instead, got the wrong 'window' so instead of calling her colleagues over (who were too bust chatting) to assist, Im just stood there waiting. Other members of staff pretend they cant see you waiting at the 'physio' window.. 5 mins pass & eventually someone comes, she looks at us like were something shes stood on and then after tapping in some details tells us she cant help us they dont deal with our particular ins, even though the Dr that referred me & operated on me is from the same company?! I would like to say that this should have been completed a while ago. I had an overall decent run with Texas orthopedics. First, dr. Loeb is very good at his job and a pretty cool guy to boot. My pt, Alexa was very helpful and nice too. In Round Rock and cedar park the front office people are nice. The surgery center folks were helpful as well. Unfortunately, there is some issues with a couple of the Austin locations. I do not have too much time to get into it, but if I did those front office people would do everything they could to waste it. They treat you as though if you don't like the way we do things... there is the door! I have had to leave work early to go to an appointment that no one called me to tell me they cancelled it. I had one dumbass make an appointment on zoom for me to see my doctor when I was in front of her. Btw, she told me it was the following week. Just one thing after another with the Austin based clinics. If you go here stay in Williamson county. Where people actually seem to care about customer service a little bit. I just got a call from the Physical Therapy office and they said "They don't recognize my insurance provider" I said "That's fine I'll just pay it out of pocket." and they said "I couldn't do that, and they will not accept my cash." I made an appointment 2weeks+ ahead to check up on my ankle. Apparently the lady I talked to scheduled my appointment with a doctor who does not look at the ankle and she realized it on the day of the appointment. It seems like that lady tried to reach me about 3 hours before the appointment and unfortunately I missed those calls. When I arrived at the orthopedics and talked to the receptionist, the receptionist told me that the next earliest appointment I can make is 7 days later. I was very disappointed that I cannot reschedule my appointment on the same day, so I just left the building without any reschedule. I understand that if I have received the phone call *3 hours ahead*, I would not have to leave my workplace early to visit the doctor. However, I am mad at Texas Orthopedics for 3 reasons: 1. Just realizing the problem on the day of appointment. 2. Not being able to reschedule the appointment on the same day, even though the mistake was their problem (I specifically told the lady that I am visiting to check my ankle) 3. Just saying 'sorry'. I am frustrated on how the hospital nowadays charges the patient when patient misses the appointment, but the hospital does not take any responsibility when the hospital mess up. If the hospital is truly 'sorry' then they should take a responsibility in some ways or the other; they should not make the patient to go through the hassle. read more
