I can't really express how great Dr. Matarazzo is as a dentist. I have had an extreme fear of the dentist and it prevented me from making an appointment for a long time. He immediately made me feel comfortable and got to know me first as a person. After the initial visit he laid out a clear plan and how to approach the dental work that needed to get done. Dr. Matarazzo is a great communicator as to what he is doing during the procedure. My anxiety was put at ease and I did not feel pain during a few different procedures. I recently visited the office for a cleaning, and for a dental phobic like me that's a huge step. Joanne was great at scheduling me for an early morning time, and once I checked in I was able to chat with Dr. Matarrazo briefly to go over my concerns and history. He was very personable and it was good to meet him even if I wasn't seeing him that day. The cleaning was done by Dawn and she was very friendly and thorough. Overall I felt very comfortable there and while I don't exactly look forward to getting more work done, I feel like i made a good choice in this practice. They advertise having DVDs to watch while you are in the chair and an extensive library of music and movies. I'll update this review once I can speak to more services, but on a first visit I was definitely satisfied with the team. read more

I am posting because I used yelp to find this dentist. I can only speak for my experience, but I came here and they tried to charge me about $2,400 for my 8 cavities. I didn't think this was right, so I called and had them reimburse me for the money they made me pay before I even had them filled. Long story short, I went to Cambridge Dental and the same work they are only charging me $500 for and he said he was shocked at what I was quoted from here. Good thing for the internet or I would have certainly got ripped off almost $2,000 dollars. Well worth the out of pocket cleaning cost I had to pay at the new guy. I will definitely never step foot in this place again! They try to hit you with the buddy buddy, I have a kid your age and them pull the rug out from under you. I don't think you would appreciate your kid getting ripped off for $2,000 dollars. I hate scam artists. read more

One of the first things Dr. Matarazzo said to me was "I'd like for you to think of me as your dentist." But I think of Doctor Steve as 'the man who changed my life.' I was plagued with serious tooth and gum problems for almost forty years. I had always thought my dental health was a lost cause: the list of problems was so daunting that I felt powerless. But after twenty-five hours in the dentist chair over seven months, my situation went from hopelessness to a completely healthy and beautiful smile: and I have gotten to know Doctor Steve and his staff like family. Even though I was prepared to endure suffering though this dramatic transformation, I was relieved to find it wasn't nearly as painful as I was expecting. Each visit was was such a tremendous relief: I felt as if a curse was lifting off me. Everyone involved made it easy for me to be an easy patient. I can not give enough starts for Dr. Matarazzo. Quick back story: I have really bad anxiety and a very hard time going to the dentist, hence the poor condition of my teeth. I have Mass Health. I broke my tooth in November. I went to 4 different dentists. I have extensive decay and needed a lot of work done. Because my insurance does not cover much, I was told to remove my 4 front teeth and "just get dentures". I decided to seek a second opinion from a non mass health Dentist. After much research I found Dr. Matarazzo. From the very 1st phone call with Joanne, I knew I was heading in the right direction. They scheduled me a complimentary consultation. His personality and passion for his specialty put me at ease immediately. He was incredibly professional and really gave me thorough information about my options, in which prior to seeing him, I had only 1 option. Dentures. At 33 years old. He followed up with me twice with a personal letter and a 4 step plan, which would allow me to save my actual teeth! I decided to do a bridge on my 4 front teeth. I walked into the office morning of appointment and had 3 dedicated hours. I was his only patient. His assistant (I forget her name) was amazing. She made me feel at ease and chatted with me to keep me calm. The procedure was 100% painless. 2 teeth extractions, shaping of teeth etc. I had 0 anxiety while I was working with him and his team. (For me, this was a miracle) I left his office with a beautiful new smile! Dr. Matarazzo saved my smile. I literally write this with tears in my eyes and a beautiful smile on my face. I had been having terrible sinus headaches that eventually progressed down to my jaw, which led to a very bad tooth ache. I had not been to the dentist in many years, because of a general fear I have had for the dentist since I was a kid. I found Dr. Matarrazo online, and after reading everyone else's great reviews, I decided to make an appointment. They took me right away, and they were very comforting the whole time. It turned out I need some major dental work, and they took very good care of me, and went over a budget so I could plan everything. I was very pleased with Dr. Matarrazo, and his staff's (Krista was awesome) professional attitude, and their understanding with my fear of the dentist. I had some cosmetic work done here for my teeth. There website says free consultation so I was assuming I didn't have to pay but right when I got out to the front desk they make you put a deposit down if not they charge you for the consultation. Such a scam.... I wish I hadn't got it done here also they charge a lot more than other dentist around the area. Not sure that's even legal, posting consultation free then charge customers a deposit right when they walk out his office. read more

I recommend Dr. Matarazzo 100%. Experience was very efficient. I was able to get an appointment at the time I wanted in only 3 days. Everyone in the office was very friendly and professional. As a new patient I just needed a cleaning/checkup and was in and out under an hour. No need to schedule 2 appointments like the dental assembly line (ASPEN). The worst dental office, my cleaning was not efficient and I had 2 horrible sores.dentist didn't find necessary looking in mouth to check for cavity. In the result in another dental office I had to do 2 fillings, but I had to wait 2 weeks because of these horrible sores. I was Dr. Matarazzo's first patient, when he was fresh out of dental school, in 1978, and here we are, now 37 years later, and he is still my dentist. I have always felt confident in his services and recommendations. I needed a lot of dental work when I first became his patient, and, I was very concerned about the future of my teeth. With his immediate attention, my teeth were saved and the problems I was facing (and some of them were quite major) were solved. In the intervening years (many of them!), I have been well-served by the entire staff and I have not had as much as a toothache in that period.
