The staff is very friendly and welcoming and Dr. Cooper himself is very friendly and explains Medical terminology into very easy to understand Concepts. I very highly recommend this doctor. I'm considering contacting the medical board on this doctor. He became so unreasonably hostile towards me and my child that I felt unsafe during the entire appointment. He asked me why we came in and when I told him what was listed on the referral, his enraged response was "You don't get to come in here and order what you want!" I don't even know what prompted his anger or this response. He had the referral in his hand. He seemed like he just wanted to be nasty towards us. I was a woman alone with a young child and I will never forget how unsafe this doctor made us feel! Bad staff, bad doctor. My kid is traumatized, she was always a calm baby and had no problem sleeping. I already didn't like anything about that doctor, but still went for an ear surgery like many doctors including him suggested. I freaked out when I found out HE was going to do the surgery, went agains my own instinct because everyone assured everything will be fine. His hands shake but i figured it was a simple surgery and you just can't mess this up. WRONG!!! She would not stop crying as I came back after few minutes(I don't think they even put her to sleep!!!) Paid $250 for him to say he couldn't see anything, when I pointed him directly to the problem which could be seen with the naked eye. He also didn't have the necessary instruments for a procedure that I needed. His staff has always been on it and so is he. I think he has INTEGRITY. I have never had anything serious until my last visit and I am confident in him. I wish I could give 0 stars. As a new patient I called to make an appointment here for my daughter, and the receptionist lady was so rude and unprofessional. You can just hear it in the tone of her voice that she had no interest in helping me. She was soooo impolite, what a frustrating experience! I checked the Yelp reviews shortly after getting off the phone with her since I had a bad feeling, and I see this office only has 3 stars. After reading supporting reviews about the extremely rude office staff, and a few negative reviews about the actual doctor, I will definitely not be taking my child here. UPDATE: FINALLY got in to do the surgery. Dr. Cooper said there was a 10 percent chance it would come back. It did. In the meantime, I lost my job and had to downgrade my insurance. I just called to see if he would look at it again and the office person (Diana?) could not have been more rude. It was almost funny. I didn't know the details of my new insurance and she said, "Really? You didn't bother to ask if you were HHS (or something)?" She's every bit as horrible as she was before. I get that she hates her job, most of us do, but be human. STAY AWAY. Dr. Cooper WAS probably a good doctor at some time but he needs to retire. It's so clear that he doesn't care anymore. The office assistants deal with angry patients all day, and it's made them unbearable. Rude, cantankerous, insulting, and it's not their fault-- their doctor is comically lazy. I got a referral to have an abscess I had in my mouth for a month (!) removed, and he told me that yes, it needed to be removed, come back in two weeks. I did, and then he looked at it and said yep, it needs to be removed, come back in THREE weeks. 70 each trip, no surgery. While I was complaining to him I SWEAR TO GOD a mother of a 3-year-old came in and said, "I'm sorry, doctor but are you really not going to do anything? She has a fever!" He told her to schedule another appointment, the kid would be fine. On my way out I asked to get an antibiotic because the abscess was growing and he just said, "Yep, they tend to do that. Come back if it gets really bad." I called today to get the antibiotic and they didn't call back. My wife was mad so she called, and she said they were rude to her, and then hung up. Stephen Cooper is an ENT (Ear Nose Throat / Otolaryngology) doctor. But he was neither attentive, compassionate, or apparently skilled as a medical practitioner. Here's the summary: He talked to me for perhaps 1-2 minutes, paying no attention to what I said, then told me to go have CT-Scans of my sinuses. Expensive - but I do it. I return with SIX sheets of scans. I'm shown into his exam room. He takes the six sheet and LOOKS AT ONE ONLY - and then for approximately 30 seconds. There are some 24+ photos on each sheet. I ask him if he'll look at the others as I've some questions. He responds, "Oh I can see everything I need from the one." I ask, "Why then did I have to pay for six?" He growls and tells me I'm fine (which is not precisely what the CT-scans showed) and that I should go see a pulmonologist, since he (Dr. Cooper) "knows nothing about what causes bronchitis!" So, why did he take my money and order CT-scans if he knows nothing about the upper respiratory system?! With doctors like this you'd be better off smoking five hundred dollars. :-)) read more

The office staff was very accommodating with appointments. Dr. Cooper came highly recommended and was a very nice man, but he seemed to have a bit of a memory issue. Dr. Cooper forgot my name three times in ten minutes, even with a paper in his hand with my name on it. Also, he asked if I smoked three times. I felt like i was in that movie, 50 First Dates. His office staff told me they could access my CT scan from a particular facility. When I asked him, he said he had no idea how to do this. My husband saw Dr Cooper regarding possible polps in his nose. Dr Cooper sent him for a CAT scan. Upon returning Dr Cooper reviewed the images from the CAT scan and look in his nose with the light used for quick look, the same used to look in ears throat and nose. He billed our insurance for Surgery Sinus Endoscopy. This is a scope that requires numbing or the nose and it has a camera attached to take photos of the Sinus cavity. This was never done!!! I reported the office for fraud. Unfortunately all the insurance company does is request the Dr notes and sided with the Dr's office. All he had to do is write that he did this procedure. Insurance company did not even contact us. Now we are required to pay or this will obviously go to collections. I just want to warn all patients to double check their bills. Unfortunately Dr Cooper claims procedures he never does to collect from insurance companies!!! Final result after spending $550.....allergy medication. That is all!!! read more

The service here was atrocious. This is mostly towards the office and not the Doctor. Can't really say much because we never got a chance to even walk into the office. We had a referral to this place by my brother main doctor due to having a really bad infection. We didn't even get a chance to go into the office because they apparently didn't get the referral letter which oddly enough it was Email, Mail and even Faxed to them weeks ahead. So my mother called and battle for week to make sure they didn't just lose it. They just went on and on that my brother wasn't remotely near their system. From there they just kept belittling my mother over the phone. My brothers main doctor's office would call them and they would act sweet and caring but when my mother called they just turned dark. Dr. Stephen H. Cooper... hmmm where do I begin? Let me just say that I have nothing against him personally, he is pretty pleasant when it comes to how me and him used to communicate.. However, from a stand point as a patient let me just say I am VERY unhappy with him. I have a deviated septum, Dr. Cooper assured me that he could fix it with a nose operation. Also, I snore at night and he told me that he could perform some sort of small medical procedure on me in his home office to prevent me from snoring, it would ONLY cost about 1400. I paid him 1,400.00 in cash, the procedure didnt work, I was miserable for a few days because of it, when I came back to feeling normal again I recorded myself sleeping- I still snore. Lets go back to the deviated septum, I paid him 3,000.00 CASH for a nose operation hoping that he would fix my problem. Not only did it not work, but my nose looks completely deformed. I have a huge bump on the side of my nose, and I still cant breathe. Im worse than how I started because not only do I have a HUGE bump on the side of my nose, but I still cant breathe through my nose and I lost a over 4 grand with him. Down the drain. He told me that if I need to go back he will do a revision for free, but I have to pay over 1,000.00 in hospital fees since I do not have health insurance that covers that. Why would I want to go back to the doctor that couldnt get it right the first time? Its a deviated septum, not elephantitis. I appreciate the fact that he was willing to do a free revision but I want to go to a different doctor and have it done RIGHT once and for all. Like I said, no problem with him on a personal basis, I love his staff. Theyre all very friendly, nice, and helpful. They deal with many types of health insurance, but I really dont like the way this doctor handled my sitation AT ALL. My advice? Get a second opinion or have thousands of dollars to spend should something go wrong it wont hurt to throw away a few more thousand to get it fixed. P.s. I got a second opinion from another ear nose and throat doctor, he gave me a free consultation (dr cooper doesnt give you anything for free) and he assured me that my nose could have had much better results if the operation would have been a tad more successful. read more

I've visited Dr Cooper 3 times before i decided not to use his service anymore. I had a scheduled surgery a week ahead and they basicly forgot to approve and prescribe my urgently needed nosespray to my pharmacy. As a concequence of this i stayed without my nosespray for 4 full days...i have to use this specific nosespray everyday. By the end of the 4th day i actually realized that i dont need to use nosespray therefore i dont need a surgery. But just a note, even if i'd need a surgery still would not use their services...after a complete picture how much they dont care about their patients well being. Personally i had no problem with Dr.Cooper, he is an older but seems to be a knowledgeble guy. After my experience, in the future if i'd need a ENT specialist i'll visit someone else, who's office is well organized and actually care about their patients well being. read more

I am a long time customer of Dr. Cooper. I had the terrible experience with him and his office staff yesterday and today. I had an appointment Dr. Copper and gave me expired drops (see pictures below) yesterday, when I got home I called and his staff (Ms. Diana) ask me to come over again to take a prescription, I told her I'm half an hour away so Ms. Ana the office manager told me that she cannot look for my pharmacy (which is Costco Woodland Hills) so I google it for her and gave her the number in less than 15 seconds. The drop cost over $350, so the Costco pharmacist told me that they will ask Dr. Copper to write me different drops, I called again and being promise that they will talk to him and will do it once that will get hold of him. I called at 4 PM and they never did it, I was really upset as I have terrible pain. Today I called again and Ms. Ana told me that it's being done and that to give Costco a time until 10 AM when they will open the pharmacy. I ask BOTH girls that Dr. Cooper will call me anyway. He called from restricted number, He told me that he called me twice yesterday and my number was busy, what a lie!!!!! MY CELL PHONE IS NEVER BUSY, I get many called every day and I call back to anyone that call or text me, as I am in emergency business myself. I did not have any missed calls from him not a from regular number Nor from other number. I called again Costco at 11 AM. and STILL they never called to Costco to change my ear drops. I asked kindly from Costco Pharmacy to call them and to please get it done, and Costco did. Before all this happened I referred TWO of my employees to Dr. Cooper included TODAY one of them went to see him (he made his appointment before this happened), I never going to recommend this Dr. to nobody. Dr. Cooper is a complete fraud and charlatan. He misdiagnosed my ear blockage and tried to hustle me into putting a plug in my ear. This is after the same $1400 ct scan scam that others have reported. When I arrived at the hospital at 7:00 a.m. for the procedure the nurse told me there would be about a six hour wait, he schedules ALL of his patients at 7:00 in case anyone cancels. I left immediately. In retaliation he added a $325 charge for a sinus endoscopy that he never performed. In all he charged nearly $800 for a six minute office visit, plus $1400 for the ct scans. Fortunately I found Dr. Raffi Mesrobian in Burbank. He properly diagnosed and treated my condition. Had I followed Dr. Coopers advice I might have lost hearing in my right ear. Today Dr. cooper performed a tonsils removal procedure on my six-year-old son at Providence Tarzana medical center. I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Cooper or his staff. I'm actually shocked at some of the reviews here. My son (Toros) loved him the day we had the consultation. Told my son to grab a toy from the treasure box therefore after my son gets excited to go to his doctor appointment (when does that happen?) anyways, I wanted to share my experience. Maybe you are like me, you are thinking of going to Dr. Cooper for surgery and now you are feeling discouraged after reading his reviews. Well rest assured. I went through with a septoplasty and turbide reduction procedure. Three weeks later, I am breathing better, smelling more, and sleeping soundly. Throughout the healing process I was uncomfortable, but very low in pain. Dr. Cooper was very careful. The only reason I could see someone would comment negatively on an interaction is because he practices brevity. However he is an extremely nice human. He does over a hundred of these procedures a year. I would definitely recommend him. My quality of life has improved significantly in just three weeks. My grandmother, a woman of nearly 100 years of age, was dismissed from the clinic by Dr. Cooper on the basis of "not needing treatment", despite our reassurance that she was not well. Dr. Cooper did a very superficial examination and didn't even write down observation or notes of her background. When her condition worsened we returned to see him, but instead of receiving us with concern and interest we were met with arrogance and condescendence. I was referred to him because the ct scan showed obstruction in my nasal passageway, and doctor cooper did an amazing job at explaining my options..... One being a surgery to remove the polyps... Due to my health insurance plan I had difficulties getting an appointment as soon as I would have liked, however, Doctor cooper was able to fit me in! The surgery went beyond well, and I feel absolutely amazing now. I was having headaches for about a year, and in happy to report that my headaches are gone! I feel amazing l! Doctor cooper is very professional, caring and kind! He explained the entire surgery to me? As well as what the after care would look like. I'm now 2 months post op, and I feel amazing! I had a very positive experience with Dr. Cooper today. He was extremely attentive and personable. He had a calm demeanor and put me at ease with his manor. He was very careful while examining my nose and took extra care to not cause me any pain. He asked many questions and listened attentively. To me, he seemed like an experienced professional. I went into his office with apprehension and worry about a painful exam. I left feeling reassured and pleasantly surprised by having a nice conversation. I wish I could give this "Dr". 0 stars, he is the worst of the worst! He performed surgery on my nose and gave me medicine, about 2 weeks later I went back to get my gauzes removed and he told me that everything was fine. Turns out that 3 days later puzz began coming out of my nose, I went back he said that was normal, he kept saying it was normal until my body gave out and had to go the ER, then I was told that I had a really bad infection and that I could possibly go to my brain if not properly cared for. I went back to Cooper and he still denyed everything. I was refered to another specialist and asked cooper for my medical records, he did not want to give them to me, when he finally gave them to me he did not give me that reords for the surgery he did, he only gave me the records for the consultations. Dr Cooper is such a nice and thorough man! I like him already and I just met him. The ladies in the front seem a little... unfriendly upon the first meeting and as a first impression, not so welcoming. However, after my meeting with Dr Cooper, I had to go talk with the front desk ladies regarding prices for a nose procedure and everything, and they are very sweet and helpful. I think it's just that they are super busy and they look serious, not many smiles or anything welcoming, but they are nice, informative and thorough. I hope the procedure goes well...
