Cougar worked with us cooperatively and after some further investigation, he came up with a new solution that necessitated working with our roofing contractor, who he worked with closely. The solution was to create a new external drain that turned out to be a great permanent fix. Cougar was very cooperative, proactive, and flexible as the project evolved. His workmanship is excellent and he and his crew worked very hard and skillfully. They coordinated scheduling with the roofing company so the work could be completed before an upcoming atmospheric river rain event. The entire job went off seamlessly. A rite of passage for new homeowners is to deal with a major repair. Less than a year after moving in, heavy rains led to water from outside making its way inside without invitation. Noticing some damaged wood that was likely to blame, we called on Nelson to help. Of the various contractors we solicited for quotes, Nelson was the most through and punctual. And throughout, Nelson and team were reliable, communicative and provided expert work for a job which started as a "minor" siding repair but expanded (to our dismay) in scope as increasing amounts of rotting, structural wood from the previous owner was uncovered. Although it was disconcerting to see how much damage we would need to address, Nelson was sympathetic and assured us that it would be straightforward to fix and advised on a couple of different approaches, which we agreed to. His team arrived on time every day and worked around weather conditions to perform carpentry, waterproofing, and offered continuous updates. We also hired Nelson's team to paint afterwards, and are very happy with the results. By the end we started dreaming about other projects or repairs we could accomplish and started getting his feedback on those as well! One thing we learned is that it's necessary to make sure the discussions are thoroughly documented-we had a couple of misunderstandings about what was included or not after verbal discussions, which we either resolved through the contract, or realized after the fact that it was something discussed but never written down so we let it go. You want someone who doesn't bullshit you. You want someone who is kind of like a Sherpa guiding you. Here is my personal experience: We had an outdated kitchen that was not up to code. I used to love to cook but I'd come into the kitchen and quickly wanted to step away. So I initially went to Home Depot thinking ok great they have everything in one place! Because I'm not a DIY nor have any knowledge in this I felt half way through that I needed a bit more direction. I work 12 hr days and wanted someone who understood what I wanted. But what's interesting about a remodel is sometimes it's beyond your imagination! Green Bay had a 3D model which they tied into appliances and helped to see how the kitchen would look! Noy also had tips and tricks and advice along the way. But here's the thing - it isn't always butterflies! In any relationship there is misunderstanding, impatience and a difference in communication. Noy knows his shit. You just have to trust that. July 6 was demolition. sept 11 we moved all our stuff back. Now I just walk into the kitchen and just stand and breathe and thank Green Bay and Noy for being my Sherpa to the Mount Everest I call kitchen remodeling. Alex was not the cheapest yet his bid stood out as well written, comprehensive and timely. When questions were asked he was right there with answers. He was able to work with our tight time schedule. His accountability and responsiveness made him a stand out amongst the rest. Meeting on the job, Alex, is personable and a good communicator. The doors were going to be set in an irregular construction space so adjustments were expected and Alex had included an hourly rate for extra time and materials. Alex and his assistant brought needed tools and supplies, laying out cloths to protect the flooring. He has a calm demeanor and gave confidence the doors would work well.
