A rite of passage for new homeowners is to deal with a major repair. Less than a year after moving in, heavy rains led to water from outside making its way inside without invitation. Noticing some damaged wood that was likely to blame, we called on Nelson to help. Of the various contractors we solicited for quotes, Nelson was the most through and punctual. And throughout, Nelson and team were reliable, communicative and provided expert work for a job which started as a "minor" siding repair but expanded (to our dismay) in scope as increasing amounts of rotting, structural wood from the previous owner was uncovered. Although it was disconcerting to see how much damage we would need to address, Nelson was sympathetic and assured us that it would be straightforward to fix and advised on a couple of different approaches, which we agreed to. His team arrived on time every day and worked around weather conditions to perform carpentry, waterproofing, and offered continuous updates. We also hired Nelson's team to paint afterwards, and are very happy with the results. By the end we started dreaming about other projects or repairs we could accomplish and started getting his feedback on those as well! One thing we learned is that it's necessary to make sure the discussions are thoroughly documented-we had a couple of misunderstandings about what was included or not after verbal discussions, which we either resolved through the contract, or realized after the fact that it was something discussed but never written down so we let it go. But making the agreement itself was a breeze, and Nelson is good humored, flexible and was easy to work with at all of the stages of the process. We would certainly work with him on future repairs.

G-Family is the best contractor in Marin County, and I don't say that lightly!…read more Our home renovation was anything but straightforward. We had architects and cabinetmakers working remotely from LA, countless change orders, unexpected delays due to surprises hiding within our house. Through it all, there was never a moment when we questioned our decision to hire G-Family. Our architects, who are close friends and have exceptionally high standards, had nothing but praise for the entire team. I've always believed a great company starts with the values of its leadership, and G-Family exemplifies that and trickles down to every employee. Their patience, kindness, fairness, integrity, organization, and attention to detail were second to none. They treated our home as though it were their own. They're also exceptionally knowledgeable about mold prevention, building materials, and minimizing exposure to potentially toxic products. For anyone concerned about creating a healthier home, this level of thoughtfulness is invaluable. Dany, our project manager, was truly the glue holding everything together. There wasn't a task too complicated, a person too difficult, or a problem too overwhelming for her to handle, always with a smile! She navigated some incredibly stressful situations with what felt like magic, grace, and professionalism. If you're lucky enough to work with Dany, you're in exceptional hands. Jon Grabham, co-founder and our supervisor, is one of the kindest, most patient, organized, and fair people I've ever met. He's incredibly knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely invested in making sure we were happy with every decision. His integrity and leadership are reflected throughout the company. Our architects were particularly impressed with Juan, their talented tile artist, who embraced our unusual designs and challenging installations with enthusiasm rather than frustration. He genuinely enjoyed the challenge! Walter, their electrician and resident lighting wizard, has the patience of a saint. He's been with the company and close to the family for decades, and it shows in the trust, camaraderie, and communication among the team. We also hired G-Family Landscaping after disappointing experiences elsewhere, and they were equally phenomenal. Across both projects, the team consistently researched solutions, sourced the right products, and found excellent subcontractors for our many special requests. When you're investing this much time, money, and emotion into your home, you want to do it once, do it right, and work with people who have integrity. G-Family delivered on every level. Even during moments when I panicked or thought something was going terribly wrong, they met us with patience, reassurance, and solutions. I've come away believing that just about everything is figureoutable when you have the right people by your side. We're endlessly grateful for their expertise, care, and for turning a daunting renovation into an experience we'll remember with genuine fondness. WE LOVE OUR HOME! Thank you, G-Family!

After interviewing multiple contractors, G Family stood out immediately as the only team that came on site, dug into the details, and worked to understand our intent--not just replicate the designs. Their honest, up-front pricing was a major differentiator. We received a clear, comprehensive estimate with everything included, while other bids had many "TBD" items that weren't part of the real number. When I factored in those gaps, G Family was very competitive. They were also incredibly collaborative in helping dial in the details: when certain elements exceeded our budget, they provided practical alternatives and helped create a phased plan so we could add features later. Execution matched the planning. Communication was clear, updates were frequent, and when inevitable snags arose, they took the time to explain options and trade-offs. They even diplomatically guided me away from a bad design choice using their experience--absolutely the right call in hindsight. They also handled HOA-required changes without billing extra or anything like that. G Family isn't the cheapest, but the value is worth it. They were accountable, invested, and genuinely treated the project like it was their own backyard. Beyond the craftsmanship, they're just great, down-to-earth people to work with. Our once-underutilized yard is now a beautiful outdoor living space we use every day. I highly recommend G Family Construction!

You want someone who doesn't bullshit you. You want someone who is kind of like a Sherpa guiding you. Here is my personal experience: We had an outdated kitchen that was not up to code. I used to love to cook but I'd come into the kitchen and quickly wanted to step away. So I initially went to Home Depot thinking ok great they have everything in one place! Because I'm not a DIY nor have any knowledge in this I felt half way through that I needed a bit more direction. I work 12 hr days and wanted someone who understood what I wanted. But what's interesting about a remodel is sometimes it's beyond your imagination! Green Bay had a 3D model which they tied into appliances and helped to see how the kitchen would look! Noy also had tips and tricks and advice along the way. But here's the thing - it isn't always butterflies! In any relationship there is misunderstanding, impatience and a difference in communication. Noy knows his shit. You just have to trust that. July 6 was demolition. sept 11 we moved all our stuff back. Now I just walk into the kitchen and just stand and breathe and thank Green Bay and Noy for being my Sherpa to the Mount Everest I call kitchen remodeling. I'm looking forward to using them for projects down the road!

A special thank you to our project manager, Ari, who was excellent throughout the process. BACKGROUND: We wanted bookshelves installed above a built-in cabinet unit in our living room. I sent Jitendra a sketch and described what we wanted. From my chicken-scratch sketch, he created a design and mock-up, then measured our space. While measuring, he flagged all existing flaws in the space (uneven/slanted walls) so that we were aware of all inconsistencies upfront. He has amazing attention to detail! RESULTS: We were simply blown away by how well he was able to match the custom shelves to our existing unit; all of the wood looks like it was manufactured at the same time! It truly looks like it was all constructed as one piece from the very beginning, which is exactly what we wanted. In addition, we really appreciate that he took initiative to incorporate crown molding/extra detail on the top of the shelving unit. This is something that I would never have thought to do. WHY YOU SHOULD HIRE HIM: There's good reason why the word "artisan" is in the name of this business. He goes above and beyond on quality, service, and workmanship, AND he's very personable, patient, and kind. I HIGHLY recommend working with Jitendra and his crew; worth every penny!
