You want someone who doesn't bullshit you. You want someone who is kind of like a Sherpa guiding you. Here is my personal experience: We had an outdated kitchen that was not up to code. I used to love to cook but I'd come into the kitchen and quickly wanted to step away. So I initially went to Home Depot thinking ok great they have everything in one place! Because I'm not a DIY nor have any knowledge in this I felt half way through that I needed a bit more direction. I work 12 hr days and wanted someone who understood what I wanted. But what's interesting about a remodel is sometimes it's beyond your imagination! Green Bay had a 3D model which they tied into appliances and helped to see how the kitchen would look! Noy also had tips and tricks and advice along the way. But here's the thing - it isn't always butterflies! In any relationship there is misunderstanding, impatience and a difference in communication. Noy knows his shit. You just have to trust that. July 6 was demolition. sept 11 we moved all our stuff back. Now I just walk into the kitchen and just stand and breathe and thank Green Bay and Noy for being my Sherpa to the Mount Everest I call kitchen remodeling. A rite of passage for new homeowners is to deal with a major repair. Less than a year after moving in, heavy rains led to water from outside making its way inside without invitation. Noticing some damaged wood that was likely to blame, we called on Nelson to help. Of the various contractors we solicited for quotes, Nelson was the most through and punctual. And throughout, Nelson and team were reliable, communicative and provided expert work for a job which started as a "minor" siding repair but expanded (to our dismay) in scope as increasing amounts of rotting, structural wood from the previous owner was uncovered. Although it was disconcerting to see how much damage we would need to address, Nelson was sympathetic and assured us that it would be straightforward to fix and advised on a couple of different approaches, which we agreed to. His team arrived on time every day and worked around weather conditions to perform carpentry, waterproofing, and offered continuous updates. We also hired Nelson's team to paint afterwards, and are very happy with the results. By the end we started dreaming about other projects or repairs we could accomplish and started getting his feedback on those as well! One thing we learned is that it's necessary to make sure the discussions are thoroughly documented-we had a couple of misunderstandings about what was included or not after verbal discussions, which we either resolved through the contract, or realized after the fact that it was something discussed but never written down so we let it go. I was referred to Luis by a coworker and he was fantastic!…read more In the past 5 years, I've probably worked with a dozen contractors in the Bay Area, from GC, drywall, electricians, plumbers, tile, HVAC, and landscape (after having completed a down to the studs renovation in 2021). I would consider Luis in the top 10% of people I have ever worked with. Luis was easy to communicate with, showed up on time, clearly outlined the scope of work, and delivered exactly what was asked for and more, at a fair price! My water heater was EOL and developed a leak which damaged the plywood housing supporting it. Luis cut out the damaged part, cleaned all the mess out, reinforced the subfloor joists, and replaced it with new plywood. All of this in time so that the plumber could install a new water heater the same day. While he was here, I also asked him to make some small adjustments to my cabinets. One of my cabinet doors had broken off and I ordered new hinges but struggled to get it back on level. Luis made sure that 3 cabinet doors which were a little off-level were adjusted and tightened to open and close perfectly. He even noticed my front door had the same issue and proactively fixed that too. He did such a great job that my fiance wants to hire him to do a fence for us. 5/5 stars!
