We also exchanged several emails, and I appreciated his willingness to dig up old information that I needed for insurance purposes. I think if you can get ahold of him or his team, they'll do a good job for you. They seem knowledgeable and capable in all things remodeling. My only demerit reflects the challenges I experienced in communications with them. They could invest in some processes, staff, or tools to make sure questions/requests don't fall through the cracks. read more

We worked with Zeus Remodeling for a project that amounted to a whole-house remodel (with landscaping) and were very satisfied with both the process and the end product. At the start of the project we set out to find a 'one stop shop' in that we were focused specifically on Design-Build firms who would help plan a vision and then execute to it. While my partner and I have strong aesthetic opinions neither of us are particularly creative and we were seeking a firm that could come in and present us with options that we could iterate on. Thankfully this turned out to be a strong match to Paul's artistic sensibilities. We interviewed several other firms through this process but none of them inspired the level of confidence or empathy in terms of what we were looking for. I should also call out Paul's skills in sketching as a tremendous tool in pre-visualizing options as we were discussing layouts or alternative designs An adjustment going into the process that led to a better outcome was recognizing that the project would evolve along the way. That can feel a little daunting going into a project of this magnitude but being prepared to adjust designs as new options presented themselves and being opportunistic worked out very well for us with the final result. While I suspect that some firms come with an attitude of 'give the client what they want but no more' in preservation of their margins I felt that Paul was constantly providing useful ideas and feedback - he was easily as invested in the project as we were and we benefited significantly in terms of the end result. Designs are nothing without execution however and I'm pleased to say that both Paul's subcontractors and the various vendors that he leveraged are true craftsmen. Clean lines throughout. Well fitted fixtures. As a tech/AV nerd who insisted on incorporating Cat8 wiring to every room and Dolby 7.1 Atmos Sound systems into several rooms I was encouraged that Paul's team were able to accommodate all the wiring requirements to specs that I provided. His team were even able to customize framing to accommodate built in wall speakers and other unreasonable requests. It's tempting to offer advice to others here because obviously we learned so much through the process. The one counterintuitive thing I will share, which Paul obviously knew but we learned by experience is that it's necessary to take your time getting to done. Moving back into the house post-remodel there are necessary adjustments to the work that only become apparent once you start to live there. Paul's team was very responsive in the months following the bulk of the project as needs arose and we felt supported working through the remaining small issues that came up. We remodeled our small kitchen (10x12) in mid-July and tore down the wall and opened it up into the dining room. We gutted the kitchen and installed new floor tile, backsplash, cabinets, recessed lighting, new bar/peninsula and new appliances. The transformation of our new kitchen was amazing! I am very grateful to Zeus Remodeling and particularly Sergey for taking on my bathroom remodeling project for my small SF condo. I am sure that it was a small job for them; but they always treated me with courtesy and patience; and their design ideas and workmanship are truly outstanding. The other day I had a repair contractor in the condo for an unrelated repair issue and he also commented on the high quality of their work--which is high praise coming from another contractor! I highly recommend them and if I did another project I would definitely see if they could do it. The project took quite a bit longer to complete than anticipated, but I believe that is common and I don't fault them. It was worth the wait. Sergey and Paul have excellent relationships with material providers, workers, and others in the City. Choosing products and materials can be utterly overwhelming for a novice, and Sergey both did a great job of preselecting items, and then was an excellent guide when we went to showrooms. He is easily reachable via text for questions during the project. Once or twice there were some mistakes on measurements and placement of items and he always corrected them as quickly as he could. He was also always on time to the minute! Since this was the first project I had done in a long time, my advice for those who are considering a remodel is to ask lots of questions and to study the plans carefully to be sure you understand the design drawings and plans; once or twice things were done that I was not expecting and although the final result pleases me enormously, I had a few disappointments along the way that could have been avoided if I had paid a little more attention. Look at pictures of the recommended products/fixtures to be sure that you know what it looks like, what size it is, etc. I got better at this as we went along. This is the only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5--because I think they could have been slightly better at explaining and showing me pictures of each aspect. For workmanship and customer relations it would be 5 stars. I want to thank Paul and Sergey for taking me on as a client. It is really hard to find contractors for small jobs in San Francisco and I am sure they had more exciting work to do than this, but the respect and attention they gave me was no different I think than if I was doing a whole-house remodel. We hired Renewal by Anderson for replacement. They said best installation they've seen all around. No leaks and all dry on the inside like it was 10 years ago. Stucco didn't crack either. Sergey of Zeus Remodeling was an amazing choice. We had a complete remodel of a two bedroom condo in pac heights. Sergey put in new hardwood floors, completely redid two bathrooms, and a kitchen. The project came in on budget and on time, and Sergey was super communicative through out the entire process. He is an intelligent problem solver. We ended up firing our designer a few weeks into the project and Sergey picked out all the finishing materials (recessed cans, baseboards, door hardware, etc) and we're super happy with his choices. I ran the project at our house over the last year that was a complete gut job of the property down to the studs. New elec, plbg, floors, lighting, sheet rock, kitchens, baths, etc... Most of the sub contractors have been great, but we consistently had trouble with the carpenter/contractor/framer guys. We used four of them over the course of the job - two were complete aholes (and did shoddy work), one installed a new front door and worked on it 3 more times and it still didn't close right, and the last one did good work but was a complete flake. We had one last thing to do to complete the job, and I didn't have time to do it so I reluctantly went in search of yet another contractor to finish up for us. I spoke with Paul at Zeus remodeling and got a very good impression from the beginning, which only got better as things went along. Not only did he have someone come out the next day to do the job - we were on a tight timeline - but his guys were really nice, listened to everything we said about dust and cleaning (we have an infant), and most importantly did a really great job that took some creativity and talent to do it right. As the owner of local Real Estate company (King Realty Group) I often get requests for contractors because we have done several big remodeling projects and managed them ourselves, but until now I have always had to reluctantly say, "sorry," when asked for the carpenter/framer guy. Life is hard enough without having to deal with jerks who take your money for bad work. I recommend these guys wholeheartedly, and I do not make recommendations like this lightly. read more

We spent the better part of 2013 remodeling our SF home that was in desperate need of updating. We ended up doing a full kitchen remodel, floor refinishing, drywall repair, complete interior painting, new lighting, fireplace refinishing, etc. We chose Zeus remodeling as the primary contractor and designer for the project and overall, our experience with Zeus was excellent. The owner, Paul, is obviously very committed to his company and takes great pride in his work. Paul was fully engaged in the entire process, from the very first project quotes all the way through to the very last touch ups before the project was signed off and completed. After getting quotes from a dozen different contractors and designers, we chose Zeus because of the following: 1) Competitive pricing - Zeus wasn't the least expensive option, but we feel we got a very good value for the high quality of service provided. 2) Design esthetic- Paul's professional design service adds exceptional value that other contractors couldn't match. This was critical for us, being first time homeowners who had no previous experience with home remodeling. 3) Subcontractor management- Paul took care of everything, managed all the subs and even gave us tips about the best stone/cabinet/etc providers to work with, all of whom gave us great products at very reasonable pricing. 4) Even though we certainly weren't the biggest project on his list at the time, Paul always made us feel important and took the time to listen to our questions, even the crazy noobie ones. Did the project go perfectly all the time? Nope, definitely not. Man, talk about someone who cares! I am doing an all-out condo remodeling, stripped walls, ceilings, two bathrooms, new electric, plumbing, new kitchen, absolutely everything. Paul has been there for me from day one, and has tuned into my needs in absolutely every aspect of my project. What I specifically liked about him was that he is not afraid to disagree with me, and it has saved me from making a few wrong turns along the project! At this point I wouldn't trust anyone more than Paul who has shown to be not just an extremely lovable and caring human being but also outstanding at what he is doing. This of course also includes his team which doesn't appear to be a random group of on-the-fly hires but are very much tuned in with the total operation and constantly do work for him. Thought we had the misfortune of living thru the neighbors remodeling the whole house. I was expecting to be dealing with all the noise and construction for well over a year. That was my introduction to Zeus Remodeling. In 7 months they remodeled the neighbor's from top to bottom. A tree's root in the my backyard introduced me to Paul. He was so professional and addressed all the issues that tree's roots damage which ended up being extensive. Paul and the whole Zeus team were friendly and always made sure their work had the least impact on the neighbors. Zeus' vision and design was not only exhibited on the inside but it carried thru seamlessly to the outside including the backyard. The entire house was gutted and rebuilt in 7 months. Seeing the quality and the modernization from a 1980's vinyl siding nightmare was very impressive. The exterior stucco work is stunning on all sides of the house. The stucco pattern is consistent and seamless looking from any angle. The modern design follows through the entire house both upstairs and downstairs, even into the backyard. I cannot recommend Zeus Remodeling highly enough. We hired them in the summer for a major bathroom expansion/remodel and also to build a wall within a larger room to create a walk-in closet. We had such a positive experience with them that I hired them for additional projects, including re-sloping and tiling of our backyard patio. During the bathroom remodel, we lived in the house the entire time and they were always very professional and courteous. I worked primarily with Dmitry and also with Alex. Both were excellent to work with...their communication was great and the really know what they're doing. I chose an extremely complicated floor tile (hexagonal with a pattern) that they laid with extreme attention to detail, and many other professionals (such as the shower door glass installer who probably sees a ton of bathrooms) was super impressed by. The whole project was completed on time and on budget. The backyard work was also done with the same attention to detail and workmanship. Their work ethic is exceptional. We had a minor leak in the bathroom after completion. I contacted Dmitry as soon as I noticed it, and he was at our house within the hour to fix it, and followed up several times afterwards to make sure everything was okay. Besides kitchen remodeling that was done some time ago, they did some additional work on drywall repairs in a hallway, installed few extra lights and did an amazing interior painting in the entire appartment. I recommend Zeus Remodeling. I enjoyed working with Paul. He is easy to talk to, has a good attitude and is a clever problem solver. Paul helped me make many decisions that were good ones. I remodel a bathroom, added two bathrooms and an in unit laundry to my building. Over the phone, without seeing the job, Paul estimate the ball park price for the work and it sounded reasonable to me so I got him over. By then I received multiple bids, some didn't make any sense (fleece). Paul submitted a professional bid, I approved it and he got his crew over to start the work right away. They did the work as he'd bid it. We ran into some dry rot that had to be repaired, it was addressed and the charge was reasonable. I offered a 10% bonus to finish the work on the date he estimated it would be done. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to get the bonus; probably because Zeus Remodeling was doing several other jobs at the same time, so my job slipped a few weeks. Some of the work they did was magic; custom closet doors, bathroom skylight, sound proofing for laundry and bathrooms, etc. Also, the initial demolition and hauling of debris was done with great care. Remarkably, I couldn't see even a single small scrap left behind from it. Overall, I am very happy with the results; I recommend Zeus Remodeling and will hire them again. Of course there were a few post construction issues. Each was corrected completely, calmly and in a timely manner. Very professional! read more

We actually did not end up using Paul and Zeus Remodeling for our project, but Paul deserves a good review after undergoing our rigorous interview process. Our building was 100 years old and had never undergone a major renovation. In addition, the garage contractor we hired (SF Garage) was very bad and cut a lot of corners, so we needed some professional help to figure out exactly what they did wrong. Also, while we were renovating the house, we wanted to do a voluntary whole building seismic upgrade. After interviewing Paul, while we felt he was very competent and his quote was very reasonable, we went for a structural engineer - led construction crew because we felt a structural engineer would better suited for the project. Three months into construction we have seen, and it proves that Paul offered an honest opinion: 1) The budget sheet he quoted me prove to be a realistic number and it's good to know that there are people who are honest in the construction industry. 2) While some contractors told me the project could be done in 3 or 4 months, Paul literaly told me he did not like this sales gimmick because there's no way the house can be done in less than 6 months. He explained that subs need to come in a certain sequence, and inspections take time. He could have said what his clients wanted to hear, but instead he wanted his clients entering an agreement with realistic expectations. 3) Among all the contractors we interviewed, Paul is the only one who can sketch out some suggestions while meeting with you, and you can feel he truly enjoys his work. We would defnitely pick up the phone and call him next time when we need help. read more
