Very saddened by my experience yesterday. I have a 4 month old baby and we don't get alot of opportunities to go out but in this case, my friend asked if I'd like to go to lunch. My daughter and I got to the restaurant a couple minutes early. We were the only ones waiting and I told the waitress we'd need a table for two. I did have a stroller with me, and the waitress said uhh ok one second, and just walked away. Several people flooded in, about 4 parties worth, and several waitresses flocked to them and seated them insantly. One waitress asked how many people were in our party and we said just 2. She said "ok two and a high chair". I responded by saying my daughter is an infant and too young for a high chair. My friend and I sat in the chairs, waiting for about 30 minutes at this point. We tried to flag down several waitresses and they all avoided us. I finally went up to the counter and asked if we could just sit there since it was completely empty. One young lady rudely told me no, that having my daughter there was a fire hazard. I said "ok understood but you've sat everyone else but us so far and there were several tables that we could have been seated at". She told me she was waiting for a larger table to open up so i can put her carseat on a chair. I politelytold her that was really unsafe. I did not feel comfortable putting my daughters carseat on a chair where someone can knock her over. An older waitress came over and told me that I should leave my stroller outside (in the rain). We just walked out at this point, and I asked my friend to watch my daughter. I went back inside and asked to speak to a manager. The girls were already talking about me, as they looked startled to see me at the counter. They told me the manager wasn't there. I told them I felt discriminated against for having a baby in a stroller and was just ignored without being given an update on getting a table. They told me the problem was my stroller. We definitely were not treated nicely and there's a good chance I won't be returning since bringing my daughter was a problem for them. read more

I am not sure why this place is rated so highly. We attended a funeral in PA and decided to stop here on our way home because reviews were good It's a cute place, has nice hometown charm and the service decent but the food os just not very good. It's bland, doesn't seem fresh, etc. we had lunch there and all of us thought it was comparable to a basic diner. The big "sell" there is the scones. Firstly, they cost $3.75 so you would think you were getting something real special The scones were dry, all of them were basically the same. For example? Batter the same but they threw chocolate into it and drizzled some chocolate on top The strawberry shortcake was just plain batter with whipped cream and cut up strawberries on top. Just not very inventive..very small and dry. I don't usually ever leave reviews but don't waste your money here. read more

Return in hope for good food but I guess I have gave this place my last shot. Ordered veggies omelette and stayed away from my usual waffle today. The eggs are fresh eggs and the veggies are beyond well cooked. Nothing to wow or complain about but I would surely do it differently to bring out the flavor of the egg. Fantastic breakfast/lunch place with an inventive & unique menu. The atmosphere is country & the place is always jammed. Omelets are always delish & the sandwiches such as the turkey club (which doesn't look like a traditional club) & mahi-mahi sandwiches are yummy. The scones are to die for - OMG! The only thing I did not care for was the caesar salad as they called it traditional but it was not - it had other stuff in it & when I want a caesar salad - I want it the normal way it should come. Met a friend here from brunch recently and absolutely enjoyed everything about Stella G's! We were able to BYOB so we had champagne for mimosas (awesome!) and our server was super attentive and helpful. I ordered a goat cheese omelet with gluten-free toast (an amazing perk I didn't even know this was available so awesome). My omelet was delicious and the toast hit the spot (this was great since I usually do not get to enjoy my omelets with toast because of being GF). They closed by 2pm on a Sunday and we almost outstayed our welcome but they let us sit and chat until we kinda realized we should head out. First of all, we were never in love with this place like the hundreds of people who've rated it 5 stars on Yelp. We live 20 minutes south so it's nearly as convenient for us to hit any number of excellent cafes and breakfast spots in Hunterdon County (Sky Cafe, Lovin Oven, Sweet Melissa's), Easton PA (Breakfast Table, State Cafe, Public Market) or Upper Bucks County (Vera's, Someday Cafe). Warren County restaurants simply cannot do sophistication well which is why, when we venture up there for breakfast, we prefer down home options like Carols in Oxford or Candy's or Thissildous to Stella Gs. This was our third visit to Stella Gs in maybe 10 years and it's likely our last. Service was meh. After a 5 minute wait for the waitress to take our drink order, it was another 10 before I actually got my iced tea--when she took our food order. The tea itself was good though I was nearly done with it by the time the food came and I was never offered a refill. In fact, aside from dropping the food off, the waitress didn't come back until we were finished. The check came promptly. My husband had the turkey BLT and he liked it so he was just pissed at the service. I got the asparagus quiche. I was expecting a tall pie slice hunk of creamy eggs with bits of asparagus suspended throughout and baked in a flaky pastry shell -- you know, what you think of when you order such a thing at a charming country cafe that everyone raves about on Yelp. Instead, what I got was a 3 inch diameter, 1 inch high tin molded bunch of cut asparagus baked in eggs. It was the kind of food a mediocre caterer would serve at a cut rate banquet. The kind of food you can find on the appetizer shelf of your local grocer's freezer section. The flavor was okay but it was decidedly rubbery. Way more like a tiny over cooked omelet than a quiche. The barley salad and the greens with Parmesan that were served with my "quiche" were quite good. The other good thing is that the prices are reasonable. My quiche was $9. However, a phenomenal slice of quiche can be had at Sweet Melissa's, for example, for only 2 bucks more. And the Breakfast Table also does quiche very well for about the same price as Stella Gs. Lesson learned, next time we eat out in Warren County, we'll skip Stella G's and go for eggs and toast at Carols. read more

Lived in Hackettstown for nearly 6 years and I just tried this place last week and I must say this is my new go to place for breakfast!!! Everything taste so fresh and the portions are very generous. I had the breakfast tacos and I couldn't even finish them! So filling! My girlfriend has the breakfast burrito and again she couldn't finish it! Came here after church for a bite. Super glad we did. Can not recommend enough the eggplant fires - omg - why have I never had these before!? So freaking delicious! Regular fries and the house potato chips were both really good too. The table tried the raspberry coconut almond scone and if you love scones you'll love these - so tasty! The potato hash that comes with the breakfast dishes is really, really good. Not greasy but has a really good bacon, onion flavor and the portions of everything are great. Breakfast staples with some different options. We enjoyed our breakfast and the prompt service. The omelette was well prepared and the potatoes with the bacon flavor were delicious. I may have already left a review. If I did I gave it five stars. But this time, I have to give it four. The ONLY reason for this is that I feel the staff quality has gone down. I still HIGHLY recommend it. And you should ABSOLUTELY go. (Like now.) The food and ambience is home town American country chic. They source locally and have hearty meals that venture on the healthy wholesome side. Love it. And they bake in house, so try a scone! Their lunch and breakfast are equally as good and it's a great spot for brunch. It's also BYOB so bring the champagne! This review is more for the owners. They maintain a phenomenal menu and they clearly care about the restaurant. But last time we were here someone other than our server brought out my friends meal to the table. But not mine. My friend patiently waited to eat while I waited for my dish but it never came out. So we started to share her dish. No one came over. Ever. Until she was done and someone other than the server came to clear the table. It was then that we told the busses we never got the other dish.... and if she could maybe take it off? She uncaringly said no, she'd just go get it. We politely insisted she just take it off because I didn't want to eat alone and we were there long enough. The server came over finally and when we told her what happened she didn't care one bit. Not even an apology. Nothing at all. She actually seemed annoyed at US for not saying anything. I was very heart broken because been going there since they opened. We went again today and the service was better, but not warm like it used to be. Great brunch spot passing through Hackettstown. They serve breakfast and brunch only, so keep that in mind. I had the Goat cheese omelette and my wife had the Crab Cake Benedict. Both delicious and filling. And the bottomless coffee refills was great as the brew was clean and bold, and the enamel cup made it comforting to drink Overall the service was good, decor was good, food was great. The food is outstanding! Everything was so tasty. The cornbeef, had the right amount of cornbeef and hash. It came with an egg and Holladay sauce, that made the dish, extraordinary. The food in kids menu is a healthy portion. I tried the apple cider they have and it's delicious. It has the right amount of sweet. Today i went to Stella G's - I've been here before and had a great experience - last time had a burger with a arugula salad on the side and tried the risotto - all was great- the location and decor is great , good service and most weekends it is hard to get into because its so packed - luckily today got in with no wait and had some soup and breakfast - the swiss onion soup was good - but the Star dish was the Breakfast burrito- well put together plate , very delicious- the homefries underneath were a little dry but the burrito was fantastic- I will be back again read more

Wow! Used Stella G's as my wedding caterer, and was absolutely blown away. The food was AMAZING. We were nervous about how the food would be but my husband and I were shocked by how delicious it was and the guests kept complimenting it was as well. The restaurant is family run and the owners did everything to make sure it was a hit. From initial emails, phone calls, questions, and menu selection they went above and beyond. I can't stress enough how each bite of food we had was better than the last. They out did themselves on taste, presentation, professionalism, and courtesy. We've been here twice now -- both while wedding dress shopping in the Hackettstown area - and we love it! We so wish it were closer to us. The scones and pastries are incredible, the pancakes and French toast are buttery and fluffy, and the egg dishes are flavorful. Oh and the coffee is great. Great family brunch location... This place has an "old-towny" feel and is right on the cute main street in Hackettstown. We almost hope we could continue wedding dress shopping so we'd have an excuse to come back! read more

Stumbled across this little gem whilst visiting my father who just purchased property in the area. The Breakfast & Lunch sign caught my eye, and we pulled into the public parking lot two doors down from this location. Admiring the quaint interior, we sat ourselves whilst the two waitresses were buzzing around servicing a fairly busy lunch crowd. Our waitress was clearly busy, and didn't really have time to make a personal connection with our table, but I was there for the food more so than being coddled, so we took our time looking over the selections. Placing our orders, we enjoyed conversation while waiting for our meals to be delivered. There are no rolls or crackers on the table, so we were a bit peckish, but the food didn't seem to take too long to be delivered to our table. Our table ordered the Spring Lamb, Hangar Steak sandwich and a Cobb Salad. The presentation of our meals was beautiful, see photo section for meals. The portions were reasonable in size, I recall seeing others complain that the portions were small however for $8.50 I wasn't anticipating a 10oz. steak sliced in my sandwich. The sauce was sweet, the caramelized onions were a nice compliment, and the hand was heavy with the cheese which is always a bonus to me. The french fries were of the homemade variety, skin on and seasoned slightly, a big hit at my table as everyone was helping themselves to nibbling on them!! Everyone enjoyed their meal, we ordered a couple of desserts, Apple Blackberry Cobbler and a Carrot Cake with Lemon Icing. We held our rehearsal dinner here last week and can't say enough positive things. The food was delicious, the staff was so pleasant, and the ambience is so cozy at night for a group dinner. Typically they are only open for breakfast and lunch, but will open for a private party in the evening for a minimum of 25 people. My mother in law handled most of the planning but she said Bruno was very accommodating and easy to work with. We had quite a few vegetarians attending so he adjusted the menu to work for everyone. Even the food presentation was amazing! My personal fav were cups that already had dip and veggies stuck in them so they were easy to eat while walking around and mingling. It's BYOB but the servers still poured everyone's refills as if it were a bar. I was very impressed with the professionalism and would definitely recommend hosting a private event with Stella's. Driving around and wanted to get some breakfast and found this little gem! When we walked into Stella's it was booming. We decided to eat at the bar and we were happy we did! I ordered the Kassler Benedict which was one of the best eggs benedict that I have had (and I have had many). We also ordered an egg sandwich, which according to my mom was the best ham/egg/cheese sandwich she has ever had! We are from Jersey so we know good egg sandwiches. The potato pancakes were the perfect size and perfectly seasoned. The owner, Bruno, was so friendly and makes an effort to speak to everyone. Perfect proportions for my mother though which is what truly matters. Also the food is for the most part healthy food. Loved, Stella G's. upon walking through the doors of this hidden little gem. Much to my surprise the place was bustling. We were seated promptly, and greeted by our very charming waiter. The menu was packed with many tantalizing treats and did not disappoint. We started with the soup du jour cream tomatoes and pesto. Delish. Our next course was a Tai salad,grilled cheese and short rib on a french baguette, and my mom had poached eggs over black bean cakes. This was coupled with lavender lemonaid,watermelon lemonaid,and dad had iced tea. All three were divine! The finale was the most amazing freshly prepared peach eclair with creme fresh. Don't let the lace curtains and dark door and brick exterior fool you -- the inside of the establishment the inside is super farm-mod and cute. I had the Swiss onion soup and the risotto, and my friend had a spinach and mozzarella omelette. The spinach in the omelette was super fresh, and the multigrain toast was that perfect amount of toasted. The soup was small and delicious and the cheese was excellent. But the real showstopper was the risotto! With tons of gruyere cheese, snap peas, leeks, an amazing sauce... and all for a super low price! My husband and I have been here multiple times and not have a bad experience. But today we went for an early lunch, there were many tables available. When the hostess went to seat us we asked if we could move to a different table that was not in the middle of the restaurant. She said she couldn't because the manager wanted specific seating. Ultimately, she sat us where we wanted but was not happy about it. The waitress came and was very nice, we ordered. While we were waiting for our food, the manager/ chef came out and told was we were rude for asking for a different table, he told us we were mean to the staff and then walked away without giving us a chance to respond, also making a scene in front of other patrons. I had the basic breakfast of eggs bacon potatoes and toast; it was descent. My wife had the huevos rancheros and she liked it. The service was great and staff were friendly and attentive.
