After doing research for a new piano, I settled on Steinway and Son's Boston GP-163. I contacted our local Steinway and son's location via email and was contacted by Justin. He was wonderful. He understood thru my emails as to what I was looking for and was able to communicate clearly about each piano. When I asked if he had the one I had finally settled on in stock, he made sure it would be in the store and available for my to see on the date of our appointment. Justin answered my questions, gave me private time to play the piano and to decide if it would be the right one for me. He helped me to also find a great place for my old piano to continue on a new journey of it's own. He has a passion for music and he knows how important it is for his clients to find the right piano. Needless to say my new piano is continuing to bring joy to me every time I sit down to play. Forever grateful for Justin's help in making my dream come true. read more

Justin is more than just a salesman; he's a friend along the piano journey. For a couple years, I've been toying with the idea of getting either an upright or something bigger, and there's been absolutely no pressure on me taking -forever- to make my decision. But I've made it! I'm very excited and pleased with my decision, and I can't thank him enough for the patience and understanding he's shown me, and all the Steinway galleries he's invited me to, even when I feel bad taking so long to decide. Steinway Piano Gallery - A beautiful Boston Upright - Piano Stores Near Me - Walnut Creek, California

After moving to a house with a large enough living room, I rekindled my dream of having a grand piano, similar to those of the piano instructors I had growing up. I sought that warm, mature sound and, of course, the elegant look. With so many models and options to choose from (both new and rebuilt), I initially felt selecting the right piano for my tastes and budget would not be a simple decision to make. But I had great help and patience from Justin from the Walnut Creek Steinway store. He let me come in often to try different pianos to get a good feel for what pianos were most compatible for me. I am not an advanced piano player, but each time, he respectfully listened carefully to what I was looking for and had helpful suggestions for how to find the right piano. Justin was a very accomplished musician, so he was able to match my preferences and skills to the right set of pianos. Just as important, he never pressured me to buy, understanding it can take some time to figure out the piano that is most comfortable to play and has the sound I was looking for. He let me choose my own timetable and understood that I might want to try other stores. I can honestly say, I've never been happier in my musical life with the piano that I chose from the Steinway store, and I know I will feel that way for years to come. And, more so, there will never be a regret if later I want to trade up to another piano someday, because I chose the upgrade option that would allow me to use the full purchase price toward the new piano. I highly recommend meeting with Justin if you want to find that piano you always wanted. read more

Steinway is the dream of every piano lover, including me. With the excellent service and help of Justin and Beck, my dream finally came true. I went to the Steinway showrooms in Walnut Creek and San Francisco. Justin and Beck patiently explained and played the pianos for me. Their wonderful performances fully demonstrated the high quality of Steinway. I originally planned to buy the M model piano, and they played the M, O and A models one by one. Their superb performances, as well as their tireless explanation of the characteristics of each model and letting me try it in person, finally made me choose the A model piano. With the careful explanation and excellent service of Justin and Beck, I finally own my beloved Steinway piano. I sincerely thank them. read more

Disappointing experience. We verified store hours are daily 12 to 6:00 pm. Based on a recommendation, we drove from San Jose to Walnut Creek to look at pianos. We arrived around 1:30 pm on a Wednesday. The store was closed with a sign in the window "Open by Appointment Only". The showroom looks like it has a good selection of pianos and the location is in beautiful downtown Walnut Creek. I suggest you call first before visiting. Going to try the Steinway store in Los Altos now, it's much closer to where we live. read more

We had a great experience when looking for a piano for my son. Since it was our first time purchasing an acoustic piano, the sales associate explained in great details about the differences among various models and gave recommendations based on our expectations and budget. Then we were invited to the sales event in downtown SF where the GM Justin showed us more options. We ended up buying a Boston upright piano as my son's 6 years birthday gift and he has been playing it happily ever since. We will come back if we want to upgrade the piano to a grand piano in the future. read more

Our family had the pleasure of working with Justin and Gerry to bring first Steinway home. The acoustic piano is a purchase for our 11yo twin daughters who are training for awhile; the instrument is to enhance their interest to pursue playing piano as a hobby. Our entire experience from start to finish was nothing but top notch from identifying the right instrument, to the delivery and follow up elite client services. Both Justin, gallery manager and Gerry, our piano tutor are fantastic artist themselves, very knowledgeable, patient and well versed to meet our family needs. Imagine, having frequent concerts being played by our daughters at home on Steinway, music to ears and melody while juggling high end professional fronts. We are very impressed by the sound quality and craftmanship of the handcrafted acoustic piano. We highly recommend anyone considering addition of a masterpiece to their family. read more

I was looking for a piano to replace my Steinway Upright that I had for 24 years. In April this year, I went into the Walnut Creek store and the manager, Justin, kindly let me play on a couple of Steinway Uprights that were in the store. When I didn't find the possible piano, he recommended me to go to the San Francisco store to try out the other Steinway Uprights that they have. When I was in the SF store, I didn't find the upright piano that I wanted, but the sales person recommended me to try some Boston baby grands. This opened my mind that I might actually want to upgrade to a grand piano. In searching for the right Boston grand, Justin was very helpful. There was no pressure, but enough reminder to me to continue to search for the piano that I will be happy with. I'm extremely sensitive to the touch of the keys, the lower register resonance, and the piano's ability to sing in the upper register. I'm so grateful to have Justin's help. He listened to my reactions to each piano that I played, and he also got a feel of what I meant by playing the same piano. With his understanding of what I was looking for, he helped me find the right piano. Later, I found out that Justin is a pianist and a composer, he composes music for films and dance. I felt so lucky to have someone who has the musical sensitivity and the enthusiasm in helping people. He is very personable, professional, he went above and beyond to make sure I played all the pianos in both SF and Walnut Creek stores. Finally, I got an early appointment going to the private sales event held by Steinway at Davis Symphony HallI, in there I found a Boston Grand piano that I like. After I played this piano myself, having him playing and evaluating on this piano, I was able to confirm this is the piano that fits all my criteria. The signing of the paperwork and the delivery of the piano were very friendly and easy. Now I'm a happy owner of a Boston Grand Piano. Highly recommended ! read more

Justin was awesome to help us to get our new piano. My son loves it a lot! It is very happy experience for us in this Steinway store.

1605 Bonanza St, Walnut Creek, CA 94596 Steinway Gallery of Walnut Creek is my favorite piano store in the San Francisco Bay area. This showroom carries the full line of Steinway and Steinway Spirio R pianos as well as the Steinway designed Boston and Essex pianos. What really makes this showroom special is its manager, Justin Levitt. From the moment you walk in, Justin is attentive and so helpful in the selection of the correct piano which will fit your needs and budget. He is exceptionally knowledgeable about the history of the instruments, the newer designs, craftsmanship, and developments of each piano part and the role they play in tone projection and touch response. Besides his knowledge of the pianos, he is a fine pianist and talented composer which is so important in that he can play the various pianos while the customers are able to hear the tone of the piano away from the instrument as well as when they try it themselves. He knows what wanting a lighter touch or deeper bass or being more responsive, or longer sustain means. I am a piano teacher and the way he so patiently and eloquently explained everything to one of my adult students and on another occasion, to another young student with his parents, without any pressure about the pianos they were interested in, was such a welcome pleasure. Justin has a very kind and respectful demeanor for each person I have seen him interact with. I personally have had so many questions about various models, hammers, construction, design changes, trade in values, etc. and each question was answered so thoughtfully and thoroughly. He is honest and very trustworthy. I know he will guide me and my students to the correct piano showing us every detail to make the right decision. My adult student did purchase a piano, and the after purchase care was amazing. Justin told her how to care for the piano and sent a refinisher to touch up a small area of the piano that needed buffing. Justin was also instrumental in guiding her to set up the scheduled free tunings after purchase. I highly recommend the Steinway Gallery in Walnut Creek and its wonderful and caring manager, Justin Levitt. Like read more

I am in the process of searching for a used Steinway. I filled out an inquiry form and spoke to the sale person on the phone. Instead of providing me the proper information on available Steinways, she spent most of the time talking down other Steinway sellers and trying to justify the high price she is selling. Worse yet, she never provided the information she promised to send even after submitting another inquiry form. This is not the proper way to do business with potential customers. read more

A wonderful manager, Justin, has been helping me lots in many ways, from choosing a right piano, to picking a caring & affordable piano moving company, or even in getting a piano insurance. One of the very best Steinway's piano galleries in the Bay Area. Justin's a passionate musician and composer himself. (I've enjoyed playing his music for some time now.) His vast knowledge about Steinway grand pianos and Boston Performance Series II pianos are incredible. His style of discussing the Steinway's features and demonstration are also admirable. He's never pushing or doing any tricks to get you buy piano. I'd highly recommend to this gallery if you are seeking a great piano to buy or to rent. They got this nice offering of affordable rent to buy program for people who is not yet ready to commit buying but in need of a great piano to enjoy. I have been playing piano for the last six years and have given multiple public appearances. I wanted to buy a piano and so when I entered the shop I went ahead to the piano to play it, but the manager immediately stopped me telling that the "other customers were getting disturbed." That was a little weird considering that all the other people were trying out the pianos around me freely. When I started playing again the manager exclusively came to me and he said "maybe you should come sometime later." I did not understand why he was particularly discriminatory in my case. I felt insulted and discriminated. I went out of the store and I went to the music exchange store on the next street. I was treated warmly there and I ended up buying a piano. Sorry Steinway, you lost a customer and will lose many more since I suggested many to not go there. All because of your manager. Thanks. read more

We went into the Walnut Creek Steinway & Sons store recently to see how things looked since the change from Sherman Clay and it was absolutely beautiful! They have a great variety of Steinway pianos to choose from. The Steinway & Sons Piano Gallery in Walnut Creek is an outstanding showroom that's well-managed by Justin Levitt. I recently participated in a survey among pianists and teachers that included evaluating Steinway and Boston grands as well as an Essex studio upright. Because I am unable to post a link to my blog according to Yelp terms of Agreement, I can just say that my recorded interview with Justin fleshed out his superior expertise about pianos from every important dimension and my sampling pianos on the floor proved to be the tour de force. These pianos were well-voiced and regulated besides being gorgeous to behold. Therefore, I wouldn't hesitate to send my students and colleagues to the Walnut Creek showroom to purchase a fine piano. read more

We were very excited to get our three boys a starter piano and when they mentioned that we can rent 12 months and decide if we want to keep or not sounded a great idea. The wonderful Walnut Creek Steinway Piano Gallery graciously allowed our granddaughter's novice group to play their first piano recital on the "Concert Grand" this summer. Surrounded by baby grands, this elegant atmosphere delighted all as our sweeties' little fingers created such enriched sounds. Justin Levitt, the manager was so supportive--letting our granddaughter practice before the recital, clapping, encouraging her. He was so kind with his openness and calm demeanor, thus, he helped to settle our nerves a well. (We Grandparents were just as nervous) When Justin demonstrated his own creative compositions and when we listened to two brothers practicing for their senior recital, the full power and sound of the Concert Grand filled our souls. While the Gallery is a showcase for their pianos, Justin never put on a salesman's hat but was more a guide to the incredible instruments only on request. His ultimate emphasis is the music, the sounds, the compositions, the performance. Thank you for continuing to make piano playing a joy for all. read more
