I can't say enough good things about my experience with Langley at Chasing Tone. Incredibly gracious with his time. I had some fret buzzing on a higher end acoustic. He made time for me same day. Walked me through all his suggestions to fix the issue and factored those to my playing style. Price was absolutely fair and he had it dialed in and ready for pick up the next day. Beyond fixing the guitar his willingness to let me pick his brain on all things guitar was a value in itself. Having a resource like Langley with a wealth of experience and a willingness to share his knowledge is invaluable for guitar enthusiasts! read more

I have had many guitars setup by Langley and always plays so well after he touches it. The first project he ever did for me was rebuilt my 45yr old ES-335, which is now 50yr old. Nowadays I just enjoy looking at it in its glass display case. The most fun project Langley ever helped me with was custom build a guitar from scratch and it turned out beautiful. We started with a custom ordered Les Paul body from China and all other parts genuine Gibson. read more

Langley helped me with my Taylor gs mini guitar. He walked me through his thoughts and gave me a few options and the rationale behind his suggestions when I requested intonation and action to be adjusted. Overall really happy with Langley's professionalism. My guitar sounds much better and is much easier to do bar chords now that the action is optimal. read more

Langley is the real deal! He was extremely helpful with replacing my volume pot and making cosmetic improvements to my guitar, and I couldn't be happier with the results! The guitar went from not being able to play at all to looking like it could be on the wall at a guitar center. If you're looking for someone who knows their craft, Langley is your guy! Highly recommend! read more

It has been more than a year since I had repair work done by Langley on my son's bass guitar, so I don't recall details, but here are some key points: 1) The repair has lasted without any apparent issue since. 2) The charge was very reasonable. 3) Langley is very friendly 4) The work was done in a very timely way. I will definitely turn to ToneZone first for any future guitar work. read more

Langley was very responsive and made time for me to stop by for a guitar issue. He quickly diagnosed the issue and fixed my son's guitar within minutes. Great customer service and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend! read more

Langley is the man. He solved a problem with a custom-made telecaster. I loved the instrument when I bought it 5 years ago, but I could never enjoy playing it standing; the neck was too heavy, and the instrument "dived." Langley made recommendations and adjustments, and now, I can enjoy playing my Tele. Langley is an amiable guy, his work is reasonably priced, and I didn't need to make appointments 2 or 3 weeks in advance!! My only problem is that I live far from his workshop. But, even with all the driving involved, I'll bring more of my instruments to him. Thank you, Langley! read more

I bought a very expensive acoustic guitar that just didn't seem to live up to the hype and high price. I was going to sell it, but decided to have a luthier take a crack before I did. SO happy I brought it to Langley. Now, it plays like a dream and I will most likely never sell it. This was my first experience taking a guitar to a luthier and it was worth it. Will be bringing him more of my guitars. read more

Brought in my MIJ Jazzmaster for a pickup swap and set-up. Guitar is playing great, a lot better sustain, and the pick-ups are miles better than the originals. REALLY wanna highlight Langley's turnaround time on this job. Was done WAY quicker than I expected, and communication was great the entire time. I have dropped off guitars and amps to various techs, and not heard back for a month before. Anyone whose had a guitar or amp repair can understand that communication is HUGE. 100% recommend and will be using in the future. read more

I was having issues with the pickup on my guitar and they needed replacement. I reached out to Langley and he recommended some pickups that meant my criteria. Black, Covered, High Gain, and Passive The install was tricky (fitting issues and pot needed to match the pickups), but he handled all that professionally and at a reasonable cost that was what he first quoted me, Guitar is back and playing better than when I first bought it! read more

Langley was phenomenal! I highly recommend his guitar repair service. I was having a problem with my 1996 Fender Stratocaster with pickup static. He was able to track down the problem and fix it. He also did a complete guitar setup and did a great job with intonation. Intonation is critical to having a guitar stay in tune. I will be using Langley again in the future if I have any issues with my other guitars. read more

Langley took the buzz out of my bass guitar! He explains everything about the set up procedure and is very reasonable with his fees. Will visit him in the future with my bass needs! read more

I contacted Langley about my Schecter Tempest Custom for some minor work. I was switching hardware from chrome to black and needed the bridge saddles filled to match the fretboard radius. I also had him do a recrown of the frets. I do most work myself since I get nervous bringing my stuff to others for work sometimes, and am so glad I sent with ToneZone for my work. I read all the great reviews and they are spot on. Langley does great work, is very knowledgeable, and very nice as well. After talking to him the first time, I was comfortable leaving my guitar with him. And I am so glad for it. The work done turned out great! And the frets, just wow, so shiny and smooth. I definitely recommend Langley for any work needed, he knows his stuff! And great conversation too. Absolutely a happy customer, thanks man!! read more

I brought a brand new Stratocaster in to Langley at ToneZone for a setup and to have the trem blocked. I'm a guitar beginner, and it's difficult for me to objectively judge the quality of the work, but even I can tell that the string height is much more comfortable for me (he lowered the string height so it's easier to make chord shapes), and it's much easier to tune with the trem blocked. The time I spend learning is much more enjoyable because the guitar is easier to play, I don't have to spend as much time tuning, and I don't have any nagging worries about whether problems with my sound are the result of issues with the guitar (like intonation problems) or my lack of skill. Totally worth the very reasonable fee. I was so pleased, I brought my acoustic guitar in for Langley to set up, and he knocked it out of the park again! I'd been playing this guitar for a while, and the difference was night and day! Beyond the work, Langley is a very nice guy, and seems really passionate about his craft. He was very generous about sharing his insights into learning the instrument, guitar gear, and maintenance, and he shared his knowledge without patronizing the guitar noob (me). I'll definitely be back. read more

Langley not only did an awesome job setting up and repairing my Fender, he was great at working with my tight schedule. Thanks Tone Zone and thanks Langley. read more

I brought my Ibanez GB10 archtop to Langley to have it set up. It was factory new, but after I changed the factory installed strings to higher gauge strings there were some intonation issues. Langley did a great job bringing everything into balance and fixing the intonation so my guitar is now in tune up and down the neck. What was a nice guitar out of the box now plays like a dream. He took great care of my instrument, his fee was reasonable, and he's a friendly, easygoing guy to work with. Two thumbs up. read more

Langley set up 2 of my guitars and has done so very quickly and with attention to detail. I have nothing negative to say at all. Super happy with the results and service. Happy to have someone nearby to fix my stuff from here on out. read more

Langley was really great to work with. Trust-able and earnest, it's apparent that he's been doing this for a long time with a lot of history. Langley did a great job checking, cleaning and setting up my Strat and my Taylor acoustic. They are easier and more fun to play now. Thanks, Langley! read more

Langley is awesome! Under most circumstances I work on my own guitars unless it's something I am not comfortable doing, usually higher difficulty neck or fret work. I brought in a new Hofner contemporary 500/1 Beatle bass for some odd fret buzzing on the G string to another luthier who I used to take my instruments to (who never remembered me after 7 guitars and kind of overcharged after a while) and couldn't resolve my issue. I found ToneZone on Yelp and since I live nearby I thought I would take a chance because of the reviews. I left the Hofner with Langley who also couldn't deduce the odd buzzing issue on the G string but he recommended changing the offending string. I changed the string and the odd buzzing stopped (yay) however I discovered a high fret around #13 and contacted Langley again. He responded by sending my his notes on my bass outlining uneven fret issues for the whole neck. I knew I'd found the right guy. I ended up bringing him my Hofner again plus a Fender Geddy Lee Jazz bass that has the truss rod adjustment on the body side rather than at the headstock (which is a real pain to access). The Hofner no longer buzzes and plays like a dream plus the Geddy Lee J plays like it did when it was new 15 years ago. He told me he would set it up according the Fender factory specs and that is what is feels like again. I will be taking all of my guitars to Langley in the future to keep everything in excellent playing shape. Thanks for the excellent work! read more

I've taken several guitars to Langley at ToneZone over the last two years, some beaters but also some very nice acoustics, a PRS Hollowbody II, and a 1977 Les Paul. Langley always does a wonderful job setting them up and making sure the action and intonation are perfect. They play wonderfully fast with NO BUZZ. Langley's care around the electronics and fretboard are second-to-none. And it's clear he likes talking guitars, because I'm always there about a half-hour longer than I anticipated! I'm happy to have found a great local resource who cares about my guitars as much as I do. read more

I purchased a bass from Sweetwater about a year ago. It came in good condition but after playing during that time I thought it might be a good idea to take it in to a luthier to check out the E string hitting the frets. I took it to the ToneZone and am so glad I did. Langley looked at it and said that actually my A D and G strings were quite high off the fretboard. So he tuned it up for me and did a great job. My playing has actually improved on songs that use those higher strings after he adjusted them. To sum, if you want to just tune your bass or have a potential issue, you can't go wrong taking it here. Rates are affordable and the service is excellent. read more
